DG Ion Orchard Store Opening #02

The Calmness Before The Party Frenzy...

I was just at Orchard Road (since I am on half day leave) to get my weekly brain food (magazines!) and I saw this. Exciting... Dolce & Gabbana Ion Orchard has blocked off their entrance to the store and built a huge black covered room in front. Workers are still putting finishing touches to the structure. Looking all ready for a mega affair later. Who will attend? Will Mr Dolce and Gabbana be there? Grrr...I am excited. Can't wait for tonight.

Time to drink drink drink and of course bring you guys the happenings at the event!

HRH The Prince Of Wales Officially Opens Burberry Global Headquarters

A royal honour befitting of a world class luxury brand! On 29th October (yes, It's my birthday too! How coincidental:-P), Burberry had the pleasure of welcoming HRH The Prince of Wales to officially open the new Burberry global headquarters at Horseferry House in Westminster.

"We are honoured that he will officially inaugurate the building and take the time to meet the amazing team. It is a privilege to share Burberry's unique heritage and strategic vision as we continue to expand and celebrate our Britishness around the world." said Angela Ahrendts, Burberry Chief Executive.

Burberry design teams took HRH The Prince of Wales through the latest collections including innovations of the classic Burberry trench coat and trademark check. The visit also included a presentation of the brand’s latest digital innovations including a demonstration of the new Burberry digital platform artofthetrench.com.

Led by Christopher Bailey, the dynamic interior of Horseferry House has been designed with reference to the quintessentially British values that the brand represents.

To commemorate his visit, HRH The Prince of Wales was presented with a gabardine walking jacket made at the Burberry outerwear factory in Castleford, North Yorkshire and an iconic trademark check cashmere scarf made in Elgin, Scotland.

A well deserving royal recognition for Burberry. Congrats Burberry! Hope to visit the building again soon. It was such a great experience to be in the building at the recent Burberry After Show party. Impressive space for an even more impressive team of creative minds who gave us immaculate designs.

Kevin Goes To Hong Kong: LG's New Chocolate Phone Launch Event

I am in! I got my invitation to be flown to Hong Kong next Wednesday (together with our beloved Bagaholicboy and another Singapore blogger, Fash-Eccentric) for LG's launch of the NEW CHOCOLATE PHONE. I first blogged about this phone a couple of months back here and here, and now it is finally time for this baby to meet the world! The launch event will take place on 4th Nov 2009, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Hong Kong.

Always nice to get invited to major events such as these, especially all the way to Hong Kong with stars like Lin Chi Ling (Taiwanese Model and actress of movie 'Red Cliff') , Nadya Hutagulang (Ex MTV VJ) and the cast of the movie Avatar gracing the occasion. Will definitely capture all the memorable moments and share it here.

Thank you LG! I am exhilarated:-P

My Shoe Collection #43

Below: Another Club 21 purchase from 2 weeks ago...

Below: For a pair of shoe this price, the packaging sure looks cheap:-(

Below: Fortunately the contents more than make up for the cheap packaging...
Introducing my new Comme Des Garcon Pony Hair 'Leopard Print' Slip-ons!

Below: Love that streak of wild adventure with these cool shoes...

Below: More like 'Snow leopard' than the brown 'African leopard'..

Below: Hairy but happy feet anyone?

Below: SA told me this is pony hair, but it seems it's leather or fabric?!?!
Who cares...I just love these cute shoes!

Comme Des Garcons Pony Hair 'Leopard Print' Slip-ons

Since I am recently on a 'leopard print' fascination, I have been constantly on the look out for more leopard print pieces which could add to the look. So naturally when I first saw this pair of gorgeous Comme Des Garcons Pony Hair 'Leopard Print' Slip-ons at the Club 21 mens, Bangkok, it was instantly a love at first sight. The pair I saw then was of a brown colour which resembles the real leopard colour ways. I knew Bangkok luxury retailers impose exorbitant mark ups on any designer goods, hence I held back my lust and waited patiently till I am back in Singapore to get it.

As expected, prices are cheaper in Singapore and Club 21 mens, Four Seasons Hotel even have 2 variants to choose from:-) At first, I was insistent on getting the brown version which I saw at Club 21 Bangkok, but my size ran out in the Singapore store and I had to contemplate getting this white coloured version. I did not want to make an impulsive decision since the shoes are more 'expensive' than I expect them to be so I walked away to avoid another 'white elephant' in my wardrobe.

After a week of contemplation and not being able to get the shoe out of my mind, I am convinced I want the shoes. Because of the more unconventional leopard print colour ways, I can see it working with summer wardrobes next season. The shoe design definitely can go a long way instead of just being a seasonal piece. It's also a touch of wild 'safari' fun which is quirky and adds a sense of African adventure. Having so many positive reasons to justify my purchase, I went back to Club 21 mens store that weekend and brought back this beauty home (thankfully my size is still available. These shoes are all come available at one piece per size!).

Was told by the SA that the shoe is made from pony hair, which explains the 'higher' pricing. A very comfortable slip on style that you can wear with shorts or rolled up pants. The furry texture together with the leopard print gives an exotic charm and is casual for the weekends but luxurious enough for a fun night out. Next holiday destination...Africa?!?!?

Retail price: SGD $685. Where to buy: Club 21 Mens, Four Seasons Hotel

The Material Boy #339

Below: The coveted Burberry Prorsum Leopard Print 'Bondage' Sweater from SS2010...

I need!

Below: As seen on the Spring Summer 2010 runway show... isn't it love?:-P

Below: What about a military style canvas bag to match from the Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2010 collection?

Below: This huge tote makes a great travel companion...the more use and abuse it gets, it will look better with more character:-P

Below: Backpack for jungle trekking holidays?

Below: If canvas is not your style, what about a roomy leather version?

Burberry Prorsum Leopard Print 'Bondage' Sweater + Military Canvas/Leather Bags

Lately, I am 'answering' a calling from the wild:-) Leopard print is my new love and Safari is the keyword in my fashion inspiration.

Hence, I am keenly awaiting this Burberry Prorsum Leopard Print 'Bondage' Sweater (From Spring Summer 2010 mens collection). The bondage like strap details across the sweater adds another layer of interest to the already interesting leopard spot pattern. Being simple in a black and off-white colour scheme, this sweater will be versatile and definitely pairs well with many items in your wardrobe. I would imagine it looking fabulous under a blazer, revealing enough detail to add interest but not overwhelm it. Sartorial meets Safari? The thought is inspiring enough already!

Beyond the sweater, the amazing array of military style bags are a bag fanatic's dream. Masculine, roomy, practical styles to let you use and abuse, attaining more character with more wear and tear. Would love to take them on nature inspired trekking trips or even just strutting down our urban jungle.

Spring Summer 2010, come quick!

My Shopping Conquest #90

Below: H&M, the heaven for real bargains and great style:-P A 'must-shop' destination for London!

Below: Where else can you find a fine Black Corduroy Blazer that fits so well and costs only £29.99!

Below: 'Obligatory' dressing room modelling shot:-P

Below: Roll up the sleeves for a more casual look:-P

Below: And where else can you also get a v-neck sweater for £9.99? Only H&M... we need one in SG!

Below: H&M Store in Knightsbridge, London. Opposite is the mega Burberry store and a few steps away, Uniqlo, Benetton and then the fame Harrods:-P

H&M Black Fine Ribbed Corduroy Blazer + Grey Cotton V-neck Sweater

What do you do when you come across a clothing with all the right cuts, at price that sets you back only as much as your full day of meals, looks more expensive than it is, comes in a sophisticated black colour and you feel like a million dollars wearing it?

Grab it. It's a 'crime' to forgo such great buys. H&M is the name. The £29.99 black fine ribbed corduroy blazer is the object of mention.

On my last day in London (during my recent trip), I almost committed fashion blasphemy to even think of missing out on this one. But one last minute enlightenment from the shopping gods above save me from 'eternal regret':-P

We need to all pray for H&M to come to SG shores now. Where else can you find such sharp looking blazers for just SGD $70? Or even a grey V-neck sweater for SGD $24 (£9.99)?

My Shopping Conquest #89

Below: 2 new scents for me to smell good:-P

Below: Love the packaging... an interesting 'H' diecut inside the box...

Below: A generous size Terre Hermès sampler...
the base of the bottle spots a 'H' design. Love it:-P

Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil + Terre D'Hermès Sampler

Hermès fragrance are considered more pricey than the rest of the fragrances offered by other brands. In a way, I feel Hermès scents are more intriguing and different than what I have used from other brands, so that justifies the higher price for me. Among all the selections of Hermès, The Hermès Garden-Perfumes collection is my favourite, offering a hint of nature and the tropics with scents that blends and changes from person to person. So what better time to buy these unique fragrances than during a 15% discount promotion. DBS credit cards and Takashimaya offered just that and hence, my time is due to smell like Hermès:-P

Among the 3 choices from the Garden-Perfumes collection, I have selected Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, which pays tribute to River Nile, a symbol of renewal and fertility. The fragrance derived notes from green mango, lotus flowers and aromatic rushes mingle with incense and sycamore wood. The scent reminds me of an after tropical rain shower, where there is a moment of serenity and nature's smell linger in the air. It makes me feel in touch with nature. The scent also morphs with our body heat as time passes, which fascinates me. This will be ideal when you indulge in some tropical resort pampering, amidst a post rain shower afternoon.

After I paid for my fragrance, I was delighted to find the sales promoter included a bottle of Terre D'Hermès sampler for me. A sampler which is surprisingly generous in size, a 12.5ml bliss of sensory pleasure again.

I am now a fan of Hermès scents. It's hard to go back to other scents once you try these:-)

Retail price: SGD $133. Where to buy: Hermès

Sony Ericsson: Jalou By Dolce & Gabbana

Out goes Motorola (thank goodness!) and in comes Sony Ericsson...Dolce and Gabbana have found a new collaborator and have released a sexy little phone based on Sony Ericsson's Jalou design. A short film has also been created specially for the phone and directed by film director Cyril Guyot.

“The film is about bad girls desiring an object more than anything, and we felt this was the best way to reflect the key qualities of Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana." explains Mr Guyot.

The short movie is a treat to watch. The set is beautiful and the mood intriguing, with a somewhat reference to film noir. I love the clothes on the models. The gloves head gear is so interesting, silly but fresh and eye catching in a way:-P

I am now very skeptical about fashion phones. Often than not, they are big on glamour and aesthetic appeal but low on functionality and technology. The new Jalou by Dolce & Gabbana is all hyped up to be an 'IT' gadget for fashion forward ladies and boys with a rose-coloured body and 24-carat gold plating....but to me it's just a makeover for an exisiting Sony Ericsson phone, just branded with a luxury name and selling for a bigger price tag. Why didn't Dolce & Gabbana reinvent a phone design entirely? Isn't it better than just an upgrade of an exisiting design?

Nonetheless, let's hope the new Jalou delivers more punch than it's Motorola predecessor! That DG/Motorola phone is so 'primitive', the user interface brings me flashback of the 80's:-P (But I do love the gold, it's so bling and cool.)

Features of the Jalou include a 3.2 megapixel camera, mirror key and music player.

Enjoy the clip! The new Jalou by Dolce & Gabbana: A yay or nay for you?

Gender Bender #51

Louis Vuitton 'Stephen Sprouse' Leopard Stole

Men and leopard prints usually do not mix too well. But this season leopard prints makes a glorious comeback and even infiltrates into men's styles, which is not exactly a bad thing. The pattern has a certain wild charm to spice up dull winter wardrobes. So to reaffirm myself guys can pull of a leopard print scarf, I found this picture online which showed a smart gentlemen wearing exactly that:-)

Not only is the scarf an instant exotic style boost, but the leopard print visual pattern also draws attention and gives focal point to the whole understated ensemble. The frayed fringing gives texture too. Like an accent piece of the wardrobe that makes everything else look more interesting.

Of course, to choose a timeless piece of leopard print scarf, the natural choice has to be the art infused, quirky, very luxurious Louis Vuitton 'Stephen Sprouse' Leopard Stole. Made from 70% cashmere, you couldn't treat yourself better than wrapping such a soft piece of scarf around your neck for cozy warm. So boyfriends, now's your turn to 'steal' that scarf from your girlfriend's closet should you happen to know she owns one! For the rest, go grab one for yourself at LV!

LVoe it.

Designed by Mulberry... made for Apple

(Yes, the embargo for posting information about this has been lifted:-) So now I am able to share more Mulberry goodies with you guys:-)

In this digital time and age, fashion becomes inevitably linked to technology. And every savvy fashion fan looks out for cool gadgets to match up their luxury designer gears:-P Apple is at the forefront of fusing cutting edge technology with trend conscious design. Apple ipods are the leading MP3 players in the world and Macbooks are applauded for their sleek and contemporary designs. Now with the iphone frenzy going around the world, all techie and fashion fans need great looking bags to match up these cool gadgets.

Earlier this year, Apple approached British luxury brand Mulberry to create a collection of their favourite Mulberry bags, adapted for Apple's best sellers – the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPod, and iPod Nano. Mulberry's has chosen some of their best house favourites such as Bayswater, Brynmore, Daria, Seth and Drew for the collaboration!

Laptop bags, laptop sleeves and mini cross-body bags for the iPhone make up the nine piece collection. Mulberry icons like the Bayswater for women and the Brynmore for men, retain their coveted exteriors; but inside, the bags have been enhanced with features like padded laptop sections, phone and music player pockets and eyelet holes for headphone access. Very thoughful indeed!

The best part about these 'new' bags are their versatility. Beyond carrying all your Apple gadgets, they ensure you stay on the fashion fast track and never lose an ounch of style:-) Perfect for use everyday - even if you've left your gadgets at home!

Deciding to do the collaboration was a no-brainer for Mac fanatic Emma Hill, Mulberry's Creative Director. "Apple products are too beautiful to reside in drab bags! Apple and Mulberry share a legacy of craftsmanship and I'm thrilled that we were asked to be Apple's first luxury collaboration," says Hill.

The bags will be available on Apple's European website and Mulberry stores on November 1st and on Mulberry.com from December 1st.

So what are you waiting for? Don't let your poor Apple gadgets suffer in ugly and conventional bags...give them that style boast they need to match up their cool appearance, namely Mulberry!
