The Material Boy #472

Below: Remember this 3.1 Phillip Lim Leather Tote I blogged about a while ago? Apparently, this larger 'KC Leather Satchel' lookalike in the pic below is from the Fall Winter 2011 collection. No wonder I cannot find any information about the bag a couple of months back. I found out the name, thanks to a reader. The bag is called Pashli Satchel (Modelling pic from Garance Doré)

Below: The gorgeous Pashli Satchel comes in gorgeous Jade, Ink, Taupe and black colours. I absolutely love the zipper sides and chain details. A must have for next season:-P

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel

Remember this '3.1 Phillip Lim KC Leather Satchel' lookalike I was coveting about a couple of months ago... but found that the SS2011 version was way too petite for guy's use? Garance Doré took a pic of a fashion editor carrying a larger forest green variant with chain details. But no one seem to know where that version came from. Well... the 'bag gods' (namely Style.com) have unveiled the mystery. Yes, they are definitely from 3.1 Phillip Lim... but they are from Fall Winter 2011 season instead of Spring Summer 2011. No wonder no one at the stores can enlighten me with more details, and neither thru researching online. But thanks to a reader, I got more information. The name of the bag is Pashli Satchel, which runs a range from totes to shoulder camera bags. The Pashli Satchel retails for USD895 (approx. SGD1185).

I am loving every aspect of the Pashli Satchel. From the textured leather, to the deep Fall Winter tones of Jade, Taupe, Black and Ink, to the interesting gold tone side zippers with metal chain pulls, I cannot fault the design. Some people may feel the bag resembles a cross between the ever popular 'schoolboy' bags (the likes of Alexa and PS1) and Céline... I strongly feel the bag stands out with its own personality.

Below: Love the ink blue colour as well...

I can't wait for this gorgeous bag to debut in stores. They are hot on my buying list, especially the green version. I just hope the size will be large enough for guys:-P 3.1 Phillip Lim has many bags that is sure to win you over for Fall Winter 2011. So keep a lookout for this fast rising Amercian brand:-) Available for pre-order at Nordstrom. If not, wait for the bag to hit Singapore's 3.1 Phillip Lim store.

Remember to also check out pics of the entire 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall Winter 2011 bag collection on my Facebook Fanpage. 'LIKE' my fanpage if you enjoy reading this post.

3.1 Phillip Lim is located at Hilton Hotel, Singapore.

Ad Campaign And Catalogues #221

Below: Check out the new Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 Ad Campaign...

Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 Ad Campaign

Louis Vuitton's Fall Winter 2011 Womenswear runway presentation may have filled you with evocative feelings of fetishism, old world hotel porters and french maids, the concept for the corresponding ad campaign surprisingly bears little sign of this 'fantasy'. Instead Marc Jacobs and photographer Steven Miesel chose to be inspired by a story of vintage cars and the beautiful female passenger that travelled in them. Varying ideas it may be, the result was nonetheless no less impressive.

Bearing a classic feel and a romance of old world travel... those girls are beckoning out to you to share a ride. Of course... who wouldn't adore the alluring new Fall Winter 2011 bags and accessories that had every fashion fan talking even before debutting in stores (those hand cuffs inspired 'fetish' bracelets and furry bags are TDF!)

The Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2011-2012 campaign shoot was a complex and carefully coordinated operation involving not only six young, up-and-coming models, five vintage cars and their chauffeur, but also seven pairs of pedigree dogs.

"Steven Meisel and I met and decided we would do this wonderful story of beautiful vintage cars, little dogs and fresh-faced young women. It's a very classic scenario, and of course it suggests travel, but I think we gave it a fresh, modern and sometimes a little bit naughty, tongue-in-cheek spin." Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton Artistic Director

These striking scenes take up the narrative of the Louis Vuitton fashion show at the point where the woman leaves her hotel and steps – along with her pet pooch – into her chauffeur-driven limousine. "Who wouldn't want to be this gorgeous young woman in the back seat of this beautiful car?" asks Marc Jacobs. "And wherever she's going, she's dressed in style this season by Louis Vuitton."

Look out for these fascinating ads in magazines from Aug 2011.

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #220

Below: With this much of good designs... be ready to fall in love with many of Coach's Fall Winter 2011 mens bags... I know I did... at least these 6 as seen below!

Coach Fall Winter 2011 Mens Bags

Here's more pictures I got from the Coach Fall Winter 2011 press kit I received a week ago. I have to admit, beyond the selection I saw in the showroom... my 'wandering eyes' have also set my heart 'aflutter' to these other designs which I am absolutely loving.

Coach is going ultra masculine with their mens range next season, with a huge focus on utilitarian and functional designs. All the bags featured in the Fall Winter 2011 catalogue made for such user friendly daily companions to hold documents, travel essentials or pretty much anything. I love the duality of both hand grips and shoulder straps in most bags which is most ideal for ease of movement in our urban lifestyle.

Here's a few of my favourites (From top down):

1) Portfolio cases are one of my obsession as does clutches. I don't know why... but I always find guys with minimal to carry very confident and suave. Perhaps by not being burdened by big bags, they send off a vibe of relaxed charm. I am impressed with people who can operate with minimal, a 'feat' which I am still trying to achieve. So these Crosby Portfolio cases are hot on my want list. The Crosby collection is a new range for Fall Winter 2011 and the most elevated out of the entire Coach family of Mens' bags. Everything is top of the line. From the extraordinary natural-grained Italian leather to the Soft Port leather trims to (Indulgent!) 14K gold plated custom hardware, the materials says it all. The authentic crocodile version shown above simply seals the deal for me... finished with just the right amount of metal buckle hardware for a sophistcated and uncluttered look. A Power executive's must have!

2) Besides the Crosby Portfolios... I also love that Crosby Soft Briefcase in deep green leather. Very roomy and classically alluring with subtle gold foil branding. The perfect companion to the office, business trips and even for the gym.

3) Every guy needs a messenger bag. A leather one is the best. These Bleecker Legacy Couriers are such handsome bags, they are ideal for the executives who wants to be taken seriously. No longer will you be mistaken for a 'refuse-to-grow up' high schooler when you sling these over yourself. The minimal design in Soft Port leather, sometimes burnished to showcase the natural beauty of the leather hide evokes a vintage charm while boosting your professional image. I love the tan colour version the best. Hands free days is thumbs up for commuting about our hectic urban lifestyle.

4) But if you need a bigger bag because you are those guys who brings everything, then this Rivington Quilted Tote in black light-weight Italian leather is your answer. I love the quilted design, giving it a Fall Winter feeling of protection. The size will hold anything, and the shoulder strap and long hand strap options let you cross body, hand carry or shoulder sling the bag. Talk about versatility.

5) Besides leathers and canvas, bags exists in other materials as well. How apt for Coach to use Wool Fabrics with graphic patterns to create some of their most interesting Fall Winter designs. I love this Stripe Wool Utility Tote. Needless to say, I was instantly taken in by the pattern on the wool material, very masculine and dandy-ish, a comfy bag to hug for cold winter days:-)

6) If having just interesting wool fabrics alone is not enough for your bags... turn to Coach's new Reversible totes for double the bag fun. This range is literally 2 bags in one for you to reverse to the look you deem most fitting for your mood that day. This smart' ticking stripe grey wool' version shown above on this Wool Reversible Tote gets my vote. Simple, no frills and yet versatile for any situation... from boardroom chic to downtown relaxed. Best part is, if you get tired of the bag at any time, flip and you get to refresh the look! I love choices and this bag gives you just that.

Fall Winter 2011 is looking very promising for Coach's Mens Range. I have already seen Japanese magazines featuring the collection like crazy in the latest issues of UOMO and Leon. If the Japanese loves it, you can be sure that meant something:-)

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #174

Below: Who approves of 'sleepwear' as daywear look? Ryan Gosling looking extremely sexy and suave with his
Salvatore Ferragamo SS2011 Navy 'Pajamas' Shirt at the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival... Sleepwear never looked this good... Love the idea!

Below: Super hot model, Tyson Ballou wearing the same shirt with the entire runway look in Elle Mexico. There is just something seductive about guys wearing this 'pajamas meets sartorial' style...:-P
'Sleeping' Hunks... Sleepwear Inspired Style

At the recent 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival, there were many memorable fashion moments from the glamourous guests. But there were many more disastrous clothing mishaps. However, there is one male actor that stays on top of his fashion game and I am giving him a thumbs up for being consistently appropriately attired with highly savvy choice of dressing throughout his stay. That guy is Canadian actor Ryan Gosling. His choice of fashion brand to wear... Salvatore Ferragamo. Unexpected choice since Ferragamo is never on top of your mind of celebrity fashion choices. But because of Ryan, I am now giving the brand's Spring Summer 2011 collection a different look. I love Ryan's navy top as featured in the pic above. A Pajamas meets sartorial design that came from the SS2011 runway. Ryan wore it aptly for his photocall of his new movie 'Drive'. Very nonchalant while staying subtly sexy in a tasteful way. There is just something about sleepwear in daytime that gives that vibe. I love the idea.

Below: As seen on the Spring Summer 2011 Salvatore Ferragamo Mens Runway... The model looked so comfortable:-) Nice roomy pinstripe pajamas pants with linen Double Breasted jacket... Sleeping beauty will definitely approve this look!

Then I came across an editorial shot in Elle Mexico featuring super hot male model Tyson Ballou wearing the same shirt with the entire runway look. This affirms my new found fascination with 'sleepwear' as daywear on guys. The relaxed attitude combined with a quiet seductive allure makes guys who can pull off this look highly desirable.

What are your thoughts on this look? Sloppy or simply sexy?

And who wears the look better... Ryan or Tyson? For me, I'd take both guys any day!

New Colours! Christian Louboutin Rollerball With All Black Spikes And Silver Glitter

Enough said, let the pictures do the tempting. Unrelenting in easing our wallets, Christian Louboutin is releasing 2 new colours to their ever expanding variants of the popular Rollerball spikes slip-ons this June 2011. I really love the new all-black spikes this time. And metallics are picking up pace next Fall Winter 2011... so the silver glitter version came at the right time too! Gorgeous and dangerous:-) Who can resist the calling of spikey red soles? I know I can't! Help!

Below: 'Hermés x VANS' sneakers anyone?

'Hermés x Vans Sneakers' Anyone?

Will you ever believe me if I told you the world's most luxurious designer brand, Hermés has collaborated with high street shoe label, VANS? Can you imagine this marriage of 'high-low' even in this modern (and democratic) day of fashion?

Well dream on if your answer is yes. Hermés will probably frown upon the first mention of such an idea. But with a bit of creativity and ingenuity... this union of 'luxury with high street' can truly happen!

Below: So the question begs... do Hermés fans approve of this 'union' of high street and ultra luxurious?

Celebrity stylist Robert Verdi is such a 'matchmaker'. Since he cannot get his favourite luxury brand to collaborate with his favourite high street shoe brand... he took things into his own hands. He asked VANS to make customised sneakers for him out of his vintage Hermés scarves! Brilliant! And surprise surprise... I must admit, I really love the end result:-) Those gorgeous printed Hermés scarves with their whimsical designs brings a high sense of style when translated onto those familiar high street shoes. They are one of a kind. They definitely have lots of personality. Most importantly, they are the result of some good creative thinking! Have you ever thought of making shoes out of Hermés scarves? Inspiring... now I want my customised Hermés x Vans shoes too. What about you?

Below: For me... I love it! It's one of a kind and it takes some creativity to make this union happen! Love the beautiful prints of the scarves on the shoes:-P

Below: I am now a fan of these 'cheap but chic' ASOS Contrast Checks Collar/Placket and Sleeve Polo shirts! I worn mine over the weekend and they looked great! Okay confession...I did suck in my stomach cos' I just had lunch when I took this pic:-P (Worn with my Dior Homme Jeans, Dolce & Gabbana White Snakeskin Leather Belt, YSL Leather Cord Bracelet, Balenciaga Besace Day Bag and Converse Denim Shoes)

ASOS Contrast Checks Placket/Collar/Sleeves Polo Shirts

I have to proclaim my love for these 'cheap but chic' ASOS Polo t-shirts that feature interesting contrast checks fabric on the placket, collar and sleeves. Some even have a patch pocket in matching pattern which made the design all the more charming. Gingham checks or plaids simply adds a dandy flair to these summer friendly polo tees! I love them:-P Great for matching with jeans or simple canvas shoes for a smart casual look.

I received my grey marl coloured version this Friday and immediately wore it over the weekend. Love the sizing... nicely fitted while not too tight. The contrasting gingham fabric is extra cool. In the end, I love the design so much I got all four versions as shown below:-P

I have to say they are good value considering the design. D&G has similar versions for 'over the top' pricing. Zara would have sold them for at least SGD50. But at ASOS... they are very well priced... just £12 to £16. Click here to get them! (Remember... ASOS ships free internationally!)

Below: Get this Dark grey and black & white checks version... £16 only. Nice neutrals that goes with anything!
Below: This last one is my all time favourite. I simply adore the navy colour with red gingham checks trimmings. (£15)... I bought 2 pieces of this design:-P

Below: Besides travel and every day bags... there are also options for the busy executives such as these soft briefcases...

Coach Press Preview Day: Fall Winter 2011 Collections (Part 1 - Mens Bags)

Bags, bags and more bags! With Spring Summer 2011 season coming to an end, it's time to turn our attention to the upcoming Fall Winter 2011 season.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending American Luxury Brand, Coach's Press Preview Day for their Fall Winter 2011 collection. Not only were fellow blogger friends, Ms Glitzy + Fash-Eccentric's Xwen and I, the first few to set foot into Coach's spanking new press office in Singapore... but we were also treated with very promising new designs from their upcoming collection. Yes, Coach is expanding their presence in our sunny Singapore shores. More boutiques are in the plans here. And best part of the news... this time the boys will not be left out. We will definitely see more focus and wider range for sale from the mens collection. It is my hope that one day we will have our very own dedicated Coach Mens boutique (the likes of New York and Hong Kong) in the near future. Cross my fingers!

Enough of my 'fan boy' blabbering, time to get back to the report...

For Fall Winter 2011, Coach will be sending out an array of bag designs suited for the busy executive, the savvy traveller as well as the fashionable men on the move. From messenger bags, weekenders to handy tote bags, Coach aims to entice the stylish male with a bag that fits any aspect of his urban lifestyle.

My eyes are already set on not 1 but 3 bags:-) (And there's more after browsing the new collection catalogue:-) Many promising designs I will be dying to get my hands on.)

One of the most memorable bag I saw yesterday has to be this new Reversible Tote with multi-coloured stripes. I always welcome the idea of duality. Apparently Coach does so too. Coach have always uphold their decades long philosophy that their bags' interiors should be as handsome as their exteriors. So this new innovative design presents you with 2 looks in one bag. Talk about value for money! Switch from soft tan coloured leather (I touched it and it's very supple and soft) on one side and reverse it out to a khaki canvas material on the other. You choose which look fits your look for the day. Fun and versatile, this is the bag not to be missed. Just look at my modelling pic... I really like the size and colour too.

Next up, I am also loving the new Bleecker Legacy Weekend Totes which combines archival elements with modern design for a rugged masculine appeal. One version is crafted in durable Khaki faille canvas while the other entirely in premium Soft Port leather, hand-burnished to showcase the natural beauty of the hide. The Bleecker Legacy Weekend Tote has minimal hardware, lightweight and roomy while being timeless in design. An ideal companion for short getways or day to day adventures in the city. This is the bag that takes you places! Definitely a thumbs up in my books.

Enjoy the rest of the pics from my press preview visit on my facebook fanpage.
Let the bags speak for themselves:-) 'LIKE' my page if you enjoy reading this post:-)

Happy viewing, I am now looking forward to fall season already!

Below: Wedge soles and brogues have invaded Dior Homme's Fall Winter 2011 collection... All thanks to Prada's infamous SS2011 Wingtips Espadrilles:-P Dior Homme does theirs in rugged style, ready to tread any urban jungle...
Below: Anyone for Dior Homme's Wedge Sole Brogues? Who does it better...Prada or Dior Homme?
Below: Dior Homme's trainers remains my favourite sporty style option... especially with striking red accent colour!

Dior Homme Fall Winter 2011 Mens Shoes

Wedge soles, wedge soles... brogues, brogues, brogues...

These have been the key words for footwear trends this Spring Summer 2011 season. And it's all thanks to Prada's infamous Wingtips Espadrilles which caused this shift in footwear obsession. Suddenly, wearing thick rubber sole shoes becomes an acceptable style for guys who once frown upon Ronald McDonald's chunky shoes.

This 'wedge sole' trend has miraculously survived the summer and seeped into the upcoming Fall Winter 2011 season. Not only does Prada recur the designs, but Dior Homme follows suit with their interpretation as well. Chunky, masculine boots/ brogues anyone? I like Dior Homme's rugged brown leather ones with those gripping soles. But they beg the question for me... are they Dior Homme enough? I leave it in your own opinion.

However, when it comes to trainers with a contemporary edge... no one can challenge Dior Homme's aesthetics. Once again, the collection of new designs for their signature trainers is savvy and very wallet 'seducing'. The use of Fall Winter 2011's most prominent accent colour, Red, adds an welcoming visual punch to the shoes, eye catching but not overpowering!

My Shopping Conquest #123

Below: My Hermés 'goes lucky' shopping conquest... Love my new Hermés SS2011 'Lucky Stripe' Cotton Losange Scarf with l
ots of horse shoe to bless me good luck:-P

Below: I first saw this on Mens Uomo Japan Magazine... in white and tabac. It's love at first sight. But I got mine in Thalassa blue which is as gorgeous, if not more versatile:-P
Below: The white version as featured in Hermés Spring Summer 2011 Mens Runway...

My New 'Lucky Charm': Hermés Spring Summer 2011 'Lucky Stripe' Cotton Losange Scarf in Thalassa/Tabac/Ficelle

Hermés uniquely shaped losange scarf has always been on my wishlist. I have never found one that is light-weight enough to suit Singapore's hot humid climate. The luxurious cashmere and silk versions are nice (not to mention expensive... at SGD$1550!) but they can get you feeling like a 'sauna' if you attempt it in daytime Singapore. However, if you get yourself a pure cotton version, it's a different story.

For Spring Summer 2011, Hermès sends down the runway with one of my most 'favourite to date' Losange Scarf design. Check out this Hermés 'Lucky Stripe' Cotton Losange Scarf from the mens collection. As the name suggests, it featured prints of little horse shoes done in quirky Hermés style. Horse shoe has long been a symbol for good luck. If one does magic to enhance your luck... imagine what hundreds of them will bring to the wearer of this scarf...:-) Call me supertitious. (There are simply many imprinted on scarf... so this is one mega lucky charm!:-P)
So when I spotted this scarf at the Liat Towers Hermès store in Singapore, I had to own it. I am deeming this new Hermés Losange scarf my lucky charm. Let's see if my luck will change and the forces beyond sends me more $, love and health:-P

My scarf is in the colour ways of Thalassa/Tabac/Ficelle. A turquoise based blue with golden brown prints. There is a white version featured on the Mens SS2011 runway. Perfect for summer days, the breathable cotton fabric is not suffocating nor too warm for tropical weather. The look is also more contemporary due to the flowing nature of cotton, does not drape and appear too 'heavy'. Good for casual or semi formal looks, imagine millionaire playboys on the loose in Cannes or St. Tropez. (The runway styling from the SS2011 mens runway gives me that impression:-P)

Best part of the purchase... this cotton version has an attractive pricing of SGD450 (as compared to SGD1550 for a cashmere piece). Hence, no one should resist its beckoning:-)

Below: Salma Hayek Pinault wears Gucci Fall Winter 2011 at the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival days ago... go red to wow!
Below: But I much prefer Salma in this Gucci Première Beaded Gown... breath-takingly beautiful...

Salma Hayek Pinault Opens The 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival In Gucci

Salma Hayek Pinault, actress and wife of French magnate Francois-Henri Pinault, Chief executive of the French luxury and retail group PPR SA (who owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma) graces the red carpet in stunning Gucci at the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 11.

At the photocall for Puss in Boots this afternoon, Salma Hayek Pinault wore a Gucci Fall/Winter 2011-12 Cognac soft leather strapless dress with organza shrug embroidered with hand painted flowers, purple lizard belt with light gold metal detail, tan ostrich high heeled platform pumps and paprika lizard small top handle bag with GG detail. Red is a stunning colour for red carpet!

At the premiere of Midnight in Paris in the evening, Salma Hayek Pinault wore a Gucci Première strapless champagne silk georgette evening gown with full pleated skirt, featuring an embroidered bustier of silver beads, sequins, and crystals, breaking up into clusters of crystals and beads over the skirt. Champagne satin high heeled peep toe evening sandals with crystal encrusted heels and champagne satin clutch.

Which dress fits her better?:-) I think the first red outfit could have been worn similar to what you see on the runway. The stiff leather dress seems to be too hard against the soft floral shrug.

But the beaded gown makes Salma looked like a true superstar. Elegant and extremely stunning, not to mention slimming. I wonder when Gucci will start a couture runway presentation officially...
