The Runway Sniper #10

Jil Sander Spring Summer 2009 Menswear

Fashion moves fast...and now almost a year ahead of the clothes hitting the consumers, designers are beginning to present their spring summer 2009 collections. Ain't it fun?:-) This is a good reference of the trends that will come next year. So it will be an inspiration for all fashionistos to prepare what they are going to stock up in the coming months. I use these new looks as a reference to help in making decision in buying some items. Sometimes, you can find sale items that could take you to the latest season if you know what is coming up for you.

First collection to blog about, Jil Sander Spring Summer 2009 menswear! Raf Simons continues to surprise his fans with a collection that emphasizes on precision tailoring. Zippers, stretch cotton, his way of colour blocking all deployed to trim the silhouette, emphasizing the body. The colours used were enchanting and fresh, consisting of soft greys, bright yellows, navy. I love the colour blocking effect on the jackets, although it can appear to cut off your body in weird proportions. The geometric shapes for zipper pulls are intriguing, but I question their longevity in the lovely pieces they adorn. Will you wear those pieces after that season?

One of the best pieces that have me excited was the cropped cardigan in greys with an unusually wide white trimming. Very fresh proportions and yet easy to wear.

The accessories this season is again minimal in details. Love the simple tote bags with external flap pockets. However, I dislike the little pouches and the thick soles of the laceups.

Still, a great and very wearable collection that excites and inspires. Thumbs up to Raf Simons again!
