Going For Gold: Balmain + Givenchy Gold 'Chain Mail' Vest

Get ready for 'battle' this coming Spring Summer 2010. Balmain propagates the art of glamourous warfare with their bling out 'glamourzon' party gear. While Givenchy's gold emblazoned muscled male warriors are sure to dazzle the night away.

If the boys are envious of Natasha Poly's Balmain 'Chain mail' gold vest, Givenchy makes an equivalent version for the boys which looks just as fabulous and probably lower in price. That Balmain piece is literally as 'precious' as gold, seeing that the price tag is a hefty € 6727.50 (without VAT)! Balmain did it again, overpricing their merchandise to the point of them becoming 'aspirational' and highly coveted. (BTW, the vest is made from laiton material, anyone know what is it? Seems like metal after gooling). This is literally gold you will be wearing with this amount to pay! I already see a 'inspired' version of the Balmain gold tank at Zara, so recessionistas can still get the look without suffering bank account meltdown:-P

Back to the men's Givenchy version, I love the star embellishments along the shoulders and collar. If there ever was a male version of Wonder Woman, this will be what he wears! Having said that, both gold Balmain or Givenchy vest will look amazing under a cool fitted blazer on both genders. A perfect party getup that's sure to get lots of eyes bewildered.

Now I wonder if the Givenchy men's version can fit my slim frame since the brand favours muscled physiques which I am not ...sob sob.

  1. Laiton = Brass in French = Copper + Zinc alloy

So that is one seriously overpriced vest. Maybe it has a hidden purpose such as a bulletproof (or knife-proof) vest or something to that effect?

  3. I think they're milking it while they can. It's way over price even with BALMAIN label on it. Don't get me wrong, I love BALMAIN but this time it's absurd !!!

  4. I agree Sean:-P Euro 6000 for some non precious metal, which you get either a good watch or real gold bars for it.
