  12. Hi Xian,

Baked beans was derived from an advertisement idea of Harvey Nichols departmental store in London. The ad somewhat depicts a calender where all the days are marked with a can of baked beans and at the end of the month, a new pair of shoes. The concept was to show how women or frantic shoppers scrooge themselves and eat minimum (cos baked beans is what you survived on during those belt tightening days) just to save for that coveted pair of shoes or shopping.

Get it? So we use it here to depict our irony of shopping luxury and then having to save on daily necessities. Hahaha. It's to poke fun. Nothing serious.

  14. And the baked beans idea was made 'famous' by Joe of 00o00.blogspot.com. Together with Bagaholicboy, Freshmess, Deluxeduck, we officially am the 'Baked Beans Boys' club:-P
