Shopping Saturday: Lanvin Grosgrain Ribbon Collar Checkered Shirt
Last week I went to Lanvin Boutique at Hilton Hotel to do some browsing which is always not a good idea, as in the end, I came out of the shop non empty handed. Ever since watching 'A Single Man' (I bought the book on Friday!), I am so taken by geeky, preppy looks. I have been searching for some 'geek' shirts to compliment my Thakoon thick plastic rim frames. Not wanting to settle for normal looking shirts that everyone can find anywhere, Lanvin seems to bear potential to find unique designs.
My shopping instincts was right, I found this Grosgrain Ribbon Collar Checkered Shirt, that features not a cotton fabric collar, but grosgrain ribbon, a material that has somehow become synonymous with Lanvin! Have never seen any shirts ever using this material as part of a shirt, I always thought grosgrain ribbon is usually for gift wrapping or at most... as piping on clothing. So this was definitely unique and what I have been looking for...a good innovation!
There were 2 colours for the shirt, one with blue mini checks and the other in white with red and grey checks. I tried on both. In the end, the latter looked more 'geeky', so I went with that! After a nip and tuck at the sleeves to tighten it down, I collected my new shirt yesterday. I declare next weekend, 'Geeky Saturday'... can't wait to wear the shirt next week!
(Dressing room shots are taken over 2 weekends, hence the different shorts...)

Yeah, it looked too big as I did not tucked in properly for fear of crumpling it... but it does fit:-) Not the super slim fitted cut, which is what I want.
ReplyDeleteAnd toshiyaki, thanks for the offer! Who's your friend there? There's a few SAs there, all very nice:-)

ReplyDeleteThose lanvin necklaces with "lanvin" spelled out are to die for!!
ReplyDeleteIn Browns fashion, the same Lanvin shirt is selling for only 280 pounds/ SGD 569
ReplyDeleteWhy was the price you've listed so expensive :S (Lanvin in Malaysia is ridiculously marked up too :( )
And is this shirt seriously worth the price? Anything particular special about the construction? :)

ReplyDeleteWhat brand/model are the white shorts you're wearing in the pics? The look awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi Mike, those white shorts are from D&G...
ReplyDeleteLove the short ..!!
ReplyDeleteI bought two of this Lanvin shirts after a discount during the year end sales.
ReplyDeleteStill overpriced but I must say this shirt is a good investment.
a. An excellent cut that is slim and flatters the most bodies
b. Hand sewn buttonholes!!!!!! (looks like it to me)
c. Cloth is exquisite. i always thought fashion brands uses second rate materials but I was wrong about Lanvin. But then again, they have a shirt atelier back in Paris so I'm sure they have access to quality materials.
d. MOP buttons
e. Those collars (i hope its silk and not polyester)
Cheers!
