Sunday... Shopping Day...

Below: Spotted this Khaki military style jacket at Zara today... yay or nay? I love those brass buttons on the oversized collar, the sleeves and back...:-P

Below: The collar design is different and interesting with 2 rows of brass buttons lining the edges...

Below: Quite a complex construction with a streamline cut and slightly gathered below the waist (like a tailcoat)... slimming effect with the seams curving inwards?!?!

Below: I tried it on first with my D&G soft purple t-shirt...

Below: The lower back looks cool when worn...preps up and slightly gathered... like a tailcoat..

Below: Tried it with another red stripe t-shirt for a 'nautical spin'...

Below: Works quite well with stripe t-shirt underneath the jacket...

Below: Or a plain military green t-shirt...

Below: Conclusion... I love the jacket! As seen on the lookbook on Zara's website... quite a versatile piece to go with tailored shorts and deck shoes... or even throw a scarf around:-P

Zara Shopping Picks And Ugly Bags Spotting....

It's been a while since I did my dressing room 'narcissism' posts, so on this Mother's Day Sunday which I am free (since my mother went to my Grandma's place to have a celebration with my aunts and our celebration for her will only be in 2 week's time), I took a trip down to Orchard Road and here's some of my 'dressing room' trials at Zara.

What do you think of this Khaki Coloured Cotton Military Jacket? 'Napolean' inspired with lots of brass buttons on the front, sleeves and back... Me love! The cropped cut (with back slightly longer and gathered) is great and the Khaki colour is very versatile. I tried it on with my soft purple D&G tee, then a red stripe and a deep green Zara T-shirt. I do like it... Balmain on 'budget'? I think I may grab this jacket (SGD $229):-P What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

On a side note, as I was walking around Ion Orchard, I spotted some hideous Prada bags displayed at the store window. I think Prada wants a match-up with Fendi on atrocious bag designs. These nylon totes (I think it is the Prada Shanghai Expo collection or something) resembles pre-schoolers' doodling more than any design. It's amateurish and tacky. Look at those flower applique and the grass background print... This is so ugly. My niece might even frown if she had to tote this to her childcare centre. Yuck! Oh Prada...What on earth happened there?

Below: Cannot believe these are from Prada... it's yuck to the max. Tacky and amateurish... What happened Miuccia, you got your pre-school nephews to design now?

  1. Everyone's taste is each to their own. I see these Prada's as playful & fun spirited, great for summer as an easy tote, for shopping or the beach, imagine hot days with a simple slip dress, thongs, and the Prada over your shoulder...

  2. They could do a better job with the illustrations for sure:-P It's too childish...

But there will be people who will like it:-)

  3. I agree with Kevin, these bags are not so cool at all... and there's even clouds patched in?! Floral summer prints will be better... oh my, oh my Miuccia!

  5. oh gosh~ these are real bad. I can find similar ones at Walmart or some places like that. I would understand they want to do something fun. but I haven't been a big fan of Prada's past attempts to be 'cute' and 'fun'. Stay Classy Prada!!!

  6. Well Dear...they surely designed that bags for playfull and quirky kids out there...gosh...not all kids are like Coco Chanel...duh???

  7. Indeed, bags as tacky as these are a rip off for the price they charge. Summer fun bags can be explored in other ways, rather than a 5 year old's painting.

    Shame on Prada!

  8. some may think that a men carrying a Céline Leather And 'Python' Leather Cabas bag is ugly and girly too. Its all about personal perspective... personally, i wouldn't judge.

  9. Of course, William... it all comes down to taste. These Prada totes are simply ugly in my books while Cèline's design is high on design and definitely not tacky at all.

We are entitled to judge base on our own taste. We need to have some standards to what we want to pay for. Especially Prada's kinda pricing. U have yours. Other have theirs and me have mine:-)
