Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2011 Menswear
We have all watched the live stream of the Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2011 menswear show yesterday.. have anything caught your eye? Well, now you do not have to wait a year to get your hands on those coveted pieces...it's time to make miracles happen with those magic Visa cards again!
Yes, Burberry has again innovate (Burberry did it for womenswear for Fall 2010) and started a smart marketing move to allow 'impatient' fashion thirsty fans a chance to wear their Spring Summer 2011 pieces way before their store debut. Till Sunday 27 June, you can pre-order online at www.burberry.com and allow yourself a chance to brag you are wearing pieces 2 seasons ahead! How much more satisfying can that feeling be?
Before we let our 'impulse' rule over our mouse clicks, let us take a look at this Spring Summer 2011 season's offerings...
First thing that instantly hits you as the models walked down the runway, Burberry is going grunge and biker cool! Throw in tumbled leather, heavy studs, the most wonderfully cut perfecto, it's a look most men will agree and smile upon. It's been centuries since James Dean personally took upon himself to glorify the notion of 'Bad Boys rule', now it's your turn to prove his legacy is still relevant. Tough luxe is the word, the bad boy attitude contrasted with luxurious refined English aesthetics makes for an interesting combination. Burberry aptly named the collection Heritage Biker, I cannot fault the description. Who else can seamlessly blend trend coats, plenty of studs and chains, leather pants and kick ass Gladiator style sandals all in one look and still retain that British sensibility. I love the idea.
Outerwear may seem heavy for Spring Summer season, but since the trench coat is synonymous with Burberry, I personally applaud them for playing up on their heritage and strengths. On the side, the biker theme has also been inter-blend with military undertones, in the form of officer style detailing and gorgeous olive drab tones. Suffice to say, Burberry men displays their unabashed bad boy attitudes with masculine appeal, younger, fresher but always with a bit of English charm.
Now for my picks from the collection...
I love this 'heavage' (male version of cleavage) exposing look... the beautiful navy trench over a deep v-neck crochet mesh top. Not that I have much pecs to show off, but it would accentuate a guy's assets and still ensure you cool off over heated summer weather.
The heavily studded canvas bag is an outstanding statement piece, but I worry about the weight. One thing's for sure, if you carry this key item from the collection, all eyes will be green with envy. Perhaps the bag can even score you a photo with some acclaimed street style photographers (U know who! We all secretly wished to be featured on their blogs).
I have to admit, I am a sucker for gladiator sandals. So those fabulous strap style sandals will make it to my wishlist for Spring Summer 2011. The lace-up eyelet leather panel in the front is an ingenious design! Same goes for those studded belts with chains or bracelets. (on a side note, those ribbed knee panelling on the leather pants looked kinda Balmain-ish)
Lastly, if you have a 'healthy' bank account, grab one of those tumbled leather trench coat... an investment piece that keeps you warm all thru the year and cool in style for generations.
Good job, Burberry, yet another fabulous collection that will send cash registers into overload!
