The Material Boy #310

Louis Vuitton Sofia Coppola SC Bag In Suede Asphalt

Ever since I tried on this Louis Vuitton SC Bag in suede asphalt, weeks ago when Louis Vuitton Ion Orchard first open its doors, it had lingered on my mind for the longest time.

I think I am smitten by the elegant and clean design, looking ambiguous in gender. Very practical and non bulky, with a gorgeous dark grey asphalt colour against black leather. Everything shouts buy me. The richness of the suede, sexy in a dark shade of deep grey accented with subtle gold brass hardware makes this bag a true classic. All but one thing holds me back from owning the bag...the very short strap.:-( Darn, if it is only just a tad longer, this bag would have come home to papa:-)

Now that I see Mr Sartorialist's belle, the equally classy and talented Miss Garance Dore carrying the bag...my lust is rekindled once again. Perhaps I can carry it with the shorter strap as a shoulder bag instead of cross body sling...perhaps I can still get away with the slightly petite size for a guy's bag since I am slim and tall...perhaps...the sumptuous asphalt suede will look glamourous and neutral on me, even if I am a guy...or perhaps I can fork out an arm and leg for it first and strike lottery later...perhaps...

I think I am in LVoe:-P

  3. it's in suede, Kev. aren't you worried? dirt, sweat, wear, etc.

then again, that's my personal take. I tend to shy away from suede.

about the strap, you can buy a separate one, right? :-)

  4. Oh Alla, the suede is in a dark greyish black colour... so no worries there about dirt. and the handles is black leather..will be able to withstand sweat.

I dun think you can buy the strap and it will lose the design, as it is meant as a shoulder sling length than cross body length.

  5. Garance's bag is actually the cobalt blue leather one not the suede. she's blogged about it.

  8. I'm loving this bag too! Really love the Red leather version. Well, but I think the price's ridiculous. Still,... it looks so practical and sleek.

  10. I have seen this bag many times and I think what throws it off for me for a man is the scale of the handles. They are quite petite, say in comparison to a keepall. I think if the handles were a touch larger I would have considered it. I even like it in the monogram because of all the exquisite vachetta details. The price is putting it very close to a vintage Hermes, which is difficult to pay. Perhaps a visit to Paris is in order!

I agree with Allan, it is difficult to pay a lot of money for suede, which wears poorly. I would invest in the all leather version instead.

Who will be the first among us to own the SC bag??!!
