Highlands Calling: Tartan Patterns Are Invading Fall Winter 2011!

After browsing thru many lookbooks of Fall Winter 2011's accessories, one key pattern that dominated is tartan. Tartan is particularly associated with Scotland, having clandestine origins where specific designs and colours are adopted by families and clans as a form of identification.

For Fall Winter 2011, designers have heeded their Highlands calling... sending an array of accessories from bags, shoes and small leather goods decorated with tartan patterns. Christian Louboutin added a touch of aristocratic clandestine charm to his infamous Rollerball Spikes and the new Roller Girl flats. Céline used a blue and green version on their highly popular luggage totes and leather cabas. Prada went all tartan crazy and splatter the pattern all over nylon totes, leather wallets and card cases.

Get ready your scotch whiskey and men in kilts... Tartans have arrived!

The girlfriend (Gorgeous Rihanna) hitting Chris Brown attended the Vivienne Westwood Fall Winter 2010 Mens Fashion Show in Milan days ago. Just check out those cool shoes he is wearing! Apparently, they are from Vivienne Westwood's Spring Summer 2010 Mens Collection. Dun you love the white and navy colours, the contrast of polka dots and plaid patterns? I know I do! Of course if they weren't on Chris Brown, I probably love them more:-P

Vivienne Westwood 'Drunk' Shirt, Trousers and Trenchcoat

Vivienne Westwood has been known for her quirky fashion antics. We can expect no less from her for some unconventional ideas that often gets injected with some humour. I am quite amused by her new Spring Summer 2010 Menswear Collection which shares a theme of Pirates and English gentlemen, with a few muscled 'joker-like' theatrical personalities throw in the mix. Wacky, riotous but nonetheless more wearable than John Galliano. And out of the jumbled mix, we find some interesting pieces, which is aptly named 'Drunk' range. The range of shirts, pants and trenchcoat which feature off position button fastening and asymmetrical lengths, creates a deliberate 'messed up' look, as if they were made when the designer is intoxicated with booze. Very fun indeed!
