Below: Balmain Homme SS2013 Menswear Lookbook... a more polished and sartorial direction for the Balmain men. Distressed leather , military coats and boots take a break for next season...
Below: Love the casual rolled up hem in the styling for those trousers...

Balmain Homme Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook

The Balmain man is laying down his combat boots, biker and military coats for a more casual sartorial styling. At least for Spring Summer 2013, that is. Olivier Rousteing proposes a slightly different take for his SS2013 Balmain menswear,  with the introduction of more sartorial pieces to the looks. Tailoring styles in exchange for all the grunge we have grown to love and hate from previous seasons. Khaki chino rolled up at ankle length, worn sockless with monkstrap lace-ups. No more pairing with boots nor distressed leather jackets for a change, which is welcoming to inspire a new way to create the Balmain look.

Tailored jackets are also key to the new collection. Less grunge and more polished with cropped length for a semi formal look. However, the diehard Balmain grunge fans need not falter in their loyalty, the biker and military influences are still present, albeit in more subtle doses. In my opinion, I am all for this new direction. Even the biker dudes needs to take a break from all that heavy metal and distressed leather sometimes, afterall, variety is the very spice of life.

Below: Lanvin's Metallic Blue Tassel Loafers all the way back from Spring Summer 2007 is beckoning to me... perhaps too late to get myself a pair... it's still an inspiration to hunt down something similar! Just in time to get ready for SS2013's metallics trend...
Below: These shoes may be from 5 years ago... their classic shape modernised with the use of metallic leather makes them relevant any day! An outstanding shoe for the modern dandy...
Lanvin Spring Summer 2007 Metallic Blue Tassel Loafers

During the recent Spring Summer 2013 Mens Fashion Week in Florence, Milan & Paris... Metallic accents and colours are a key trend adopted across many major fashion houses such as Burberry Prorsum and Lanvin. This brings to mind a recent pic I spotted online of a pair of gorgeous Lanvin metallic blue tassel loafers. They may be from 5 years ago (Lanvin's Spring Summer 2007 collection), but looked incredibly relevant even till this day. Lanvin's Menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver is a designer with great foresight, setting trends and innovations way ahead for others to follow. The use of metallic leather accents in mens footwear took off largely because of Lucas' Lanvin collections during his early rein at the house.

I am now obsessed. I love and want this pair of shoe. Perhaps too late... but there's never harm in having a little shopping 'wishful thinking'...:-P I am inspired to wear some metallics right away!

The Material Boy #542

Below: More studs and tartans for FW2012 Christian Louboutin mens collection...

Below: I love the new Bruno zip flat which features zipper edges all over the shoe... simply amazing! Charlie leopard pony loafer also features a more subdued studs placement...lining along the base of the shoe... LOVE!

Christian Louboutin Fall Winter 2012 Collection

Yesterday I had the pleasure of previewing Christian Louboutin's Fall Winter 2012 collection. Of course, my attention and anticipation was for the new mens shoes... which definitely do not disappoint. There were some hits and misses... but I am loving quite a few designs already. The Tartan Roller-Boat spikes is a hot favourite... colours and patterns against spikes simply looked amazing and easy-to-wear any day. There is also a Bruno Zip Flat in shiny calf which got my thumbs up. Named after Mr Louboutin's business partner and spots interesting zipper edges that add a subtle touch of hardware and grunge to the otherwise classic design. However, my heart fell head over heels (literally) for Christian Louboutin Charlie Leopard Pony Loafer which features spikes along the base. A more subtle take on Rollerball Spikes but yet just as drool worthy:-).

There were also some tote bags this new season for the boys. And if you are a fan of those 'dangerous' studded designs, this will set your hearts on fire. However, I think I will passed since they appear too loud for my taste. But I am sure some guys will go gaga over it:-)

The lucky ladies will also get amazing shoes and accessories with interesting details and innovative materials. So go check out more pics on my facebook fanpage. Here's one which is my absolute favourite... featuring mix materials with gold rim crystal studs. If there's a word to describe the shoe... it's high glamour!

Preorder for the new Fall Winter 2012 collection starts now at Christian Louboutin boutique at Ngee Ann City, Singapore. Samples will only be available for viewing till Monday. So pop by the store to check them out!

Below: Guys do look good in florals this season!

Spotted at Pitti Inmagine Uomo SS2013: Zara Spring Summer 2012 Flower Print Blazer

Women love their florals. Men usually shy away from them. But this spring summer season where prints and patterns are running amok in the fashion scene, even guys are adopting flower patterns for a flair of summer.

Spotted at the currently happening Pitti Inmagine Uomo SS2013... this guy makes floral prints look desirable and perfectly on trend:-) I love how the printed blazer adds a dapper touch that evokes a softer and spontaneous side of a guy. La Dolce Vita as the Italians put it...the sweet side of life:-) Contrasted with a smart sartorial style, it's about a guy who celebrates his life and not shy to look the part.

My MANy Life's Inspirations #15

Below: Brad Goreski... we have seen his impeccable taste in clothes. Now take a tour of his home and check out his interior decor tastes and amazing closet...:-P
A peek Into Brad Goreski's Home By The Coveteur

We all know who Mr 'mighty cute' Brad Goreski is. But have you wondered beyond all his cheeky personality and impeccable taste in style... what do you imagine his home would be like?

Well, wait no further... The Coveteur (one of my favourite blogs) just got an all access pass to Mr Brad's home with his boyfriend Gary in Hollywood Hills. Surprisingly, no Leopard skins and aplenty studs, pink feather boas nor 'Charlie and the chocolate factory' setup...

What's present in the amazing home, are masculine, retro chic furnishings... tastefully decorated, a wonderful pool and a closet that will induce the envy out of every guy. From Christian Louboutins to YSL to Black Fleece... all the dapper and fun brands are up for picks.

Read the captions on each pic as quoted by the man himself... they are so witty funny on some and can only be from Brad.

Brad Goreski is sunshine and inspiration. You cannot help but smile when you look at him.

Below: A new print of propeller fighter planes against paisley background for Givenchy's Pre-spring 2013 collection... absolutely amazing and refreshing!
Below: The new print translated onto shirts and clutch which is a must have!
Below: Masculine/feminine contrast that gives personality and depth to the collection. Soft pinks against military olive green? Bravo to the colour choice...
Givenchy Pre-Spring 2012 Menswear

I love pre-season collections. Designs created ahead of the prime seasonal collections to allow for transition to a new season. Pre-season designs are usually more wearable while giving a hint of what’s to come. Sometimes they can even be more exciting than what will be presented on the runways a few months later...

For Givenchy’s pre-spring 2013 menswear, such is the case. We are introduced to an entirely new set of prints, this time featuring propeller planes (military types, I presume) against an intricate background of paisley prints. Set in forest green tones, this new pattern adds on to the already heated craze for Givenchy’s statement making prints. Roitweiler, menacing Sharks, Pin-up girls and Birds of Paradise have all taken on well with the boys, so I forsee this fighter plane motif to be another sell-out! I definitely want that shirt and clutch bag with this new print.

Riccardo Tisci also continues to contradict his aesthetics with masculine sportive and gothic styles against soft feminine touches of pastel pinks and man skirts. It’s this interesting dichotomy of masculine vs. feminine, altar boys vs. bad boy style that gave Givenchy it’s stand out personality. I am a fan of all the highly wearable pieces and most of all, the colour palette. Olive greens and reds with pink... How oddly charming? Not to forget those kick-ass gladiator sandals which will send all the boys crazy.

Another thumbs up for Givenchy

Below: Burberry Prorsum FW2012 Fox Print Stripe shirt is one of my most wanted Fall Winter 2012 fashion piece... I simply love the whimsical and graphic fox illustration:-) Now available for pre-order at www.luisaviaroma.com...
Below: As spotted on Taiwanese celebrity, Sunny Wang during Burberry's Taipei flagship store opening recently...

Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2012 Fox Print Stripe Shirt

If I have to name a piece of Fall Winter 2012 fashion piece that I most wanted... it will be Burberry Prorsum's Fox Print Stripe shirt as seen on the runway a few months back. Ever since spotting the whimsical printed shirt, I have moved it to a must have list for the upcoming new season. It's iconic, fun and has a very interesting graphic illustration of a fox head that will get everyone talking:-) Neither too brash or meek, it has just the right panache to make you stand out without screaming your head off.

Seen on Taiwanese celebrity and heartthrob, Sunny Wang during Burberry's recent Taipei Flagship store opening... I am now even more convinced I need this shirt. Good news... Luisaviaroma has already put up this shirt for pre-order at €409.09 (For orders to Singapore). So hurry, sizes and quantity are limited. This shirt will simply fly off the shelves even before the shipment date arrives (latest by 30 September). Yes, it's a long wait to commit that payment... but it will be well worth the wait knowing you are guaranteed a piece of this shirt!

One of my style idols, David Thielebeule (Allure Magazine Accessories Director) is a true fashion chameleon. Sartorially smart, street grunge or casual chic, this guy pulls off all looks! I also adore his choice of bags and accessories, often surprising and inspiring.

Here he is seen with my favourite bag of all time, Céline SS2011 Leather Cabas in Burgundy Croc Embossed Leather... juxtaposing perfectly with his navy blazer and denim shirt. The crimson tone bag pops with a touch of luxurious croc texture:-) Loved it.

Below: Spotted... urban cool Coach x Hugo Guinness Bleecker Canvas Tote!
Spotted: Coach x Hugo Guinness Reversible Canvas Tote

Coach has now become my turned to brand for cool urban mens bags. Functionality and aesthetically pleasing designs makes for a formidable work to play transition for busy urban boys.

Now with London born, New York based artist, Hugo Guinness’s eclectic linoleum cut prints adorning Coach’s Bleecker Reversible tote (among a whole range of small accessories),  I am convinced I need one soon. However, after seeing the tote as carried by the guy in the pic above, I immediately move my urgency of getting this tote to the front of the queue.

I love the linoleum prints featuring snippets of New York city life... from takeaway coffee cups to boxing dudes to house keys and more... It’s not just a bag that you are carrying now... it’s a piece of urban art and culture that adds more personality to you. Carry it for work or play, Coach x Hugo Guinness bags and accessories range definitely looked handsome while being functional for the big city. Mustard and black colour combination also gets a thumbs for injecting a modern New York attitude.

Balmain Homme Fall Winter 2012 Lookbook

Balmain Homme lookbooks never disappoint. For Fall Winter 2012, Karim Sadli's nostalgic inspired photographic style continues to work its charm. The brilliant photography showcases beautifully the Russian military inspired looks for Balmain's FW2012 collection.

Military boys, aviators and bikers' nonchalant charm brought to life with the brilliantly casted Belgium male model, Guerrino Santulliana. His boyish looks seamlessly bring the picture story to life.

Look out for stunning red accents in terms of signature ribbed thigh biker jeans, or those sharp military coats that fans can never get enough of.

Below: College cool... varsity bomber jacket in green! Green is the colour to turn to for Fall Winter 2012...
H&M Fall Winter 2012 Menswear

I am surprised an Asian face is fronting the lookbook pics for H&M's Fall Winter 2012 menswear collection. This goes to show the rising importance of the Asian fashion market especially when Europe's financial turmoil still not showing signs of easing.

For Fall Winter 2012, H&M continues a strong colour theme as if to reinforce an optimistic attitude amongst uncertain financial times. Green, orange and burgundy are key colours creating an exciting visual appeal for the collection. I love the combination, deeper in tone and yet fresh and bright when put together. Classic menswear style that are timeless forms the staple of the many offerings for Fall Winter 2012. Tweed coats, blazers, smart trousers, bomber jackets and colourblock sweaters are highlights not to be missed.

What's your pick? I love the green blazer with jeans combination. In dull winter days, some colour is desperately needed to uplift the mood:-)

Below: The best of masculine swimwear... Nick Wooster and Orlebar Brown Camo Swimshorts is a must have for any savvy male beach or pool fanatic...
Below: Water ripple inspired graphic camouflage print with 5 colours to choose from...

Nick Wooster + Orlebar Brown Camo Swimshorts

Nick Wooster's exceptional taste and masculine dressing makes him one of my style idols when it comes to inspirations. Orlebar Brown with their concept of tailored swim shorts makes them top of my list of must-have swimwear for guys. Put 2 together and 2 together and you get the best of functionality+ design with a quirky sartorial twist.

Nick Wooster's collaboration with Orlebar Brown is exactly that. Mr Wooster injected a water ripple inspired camouflage pattern onto Orlebar Browns' highly popular Setter swimshorts. He envisioned camouflaged patterns as the best example of masculine prints. But not wanting to take them at surface value nor losing Orlebar Browns beach/pool DNA, he re-interpreted them in a modern way, creating graphic swirls with tone on tone colours for a visually exciting camouflage pattern.

Those amazingly hued green and orange versions are my favourites. However, if you are one of the less exhibitionist types, choose the blue or khaki tones for understated chic around the beach or pool!

I definitely need a pair!

The Nick Wooster + Orlebar Brown Camo Swimshorts is available exclusively at Park and Bond. Good news, they now ship to 100+ countries including Singapore. So there's no excuse not to get yourself one! Send me the green pair anyday:-)

Below: Spotted this over the past weekend and I am immediately sold... Louis Vuitton's Trunks Shawl in Silk and Wool featuring vintage trunks and tartan patterns is one fine piece of neckwear any season, anytime!
Below: Comes in brown and also this black version... versatile colours for any savvy men:-)

Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 Mens Trunks Shawl

Summer time is barely here, but I am already planning my Fall Winter wardrobe essentials. Not because I am crazy, but you can hardly pass up on something this luxurious and beautiful when you come across one. Yes, I am talking about Louis Vuitton's fabulous Trunks Shawl in Wool and Silk from the Fall Winter 2011 mens collection. It may be a season past, but the archive inspired design makes this a timeless piece thru and thru. Trunk motifs from LV's archives combined with tartan pattern in classic colours of black or brown assures its versatility and longevity. Although the wool scarf is made to shield you from winter chills, I feel the mid weight material makes this a handy scarf suited for freezing air-con environments anywhere in Singapore! The 70% silk and 30% wool ensures you will not overheat:-) Measures 140cm x 140cm which is exceptionally generous in sizing too! (It drapes so handsomely especially with those frayed edges)

Surprisingly, the pricing difference between US and SG prices are not drastic. USD795 or SGD995 respectively sees only minimal difference. So no need to wait till another US or Europe trip before you stock up on these. I know I am tempted:-p

My Shopping Conquests #129

Below: The brand to watch out for SS2012... Carven SS2012 Menswear exudes boyish charms and refreshes with new proportions:-)

Below: Those colourful leather pocket protectors is a key accent to create those boyish schoolboy looks... I had to had one:-)

Back To School With Carven Spring Summer 2012 Mens

Perhaps it's age catching up or the eternal pursuit of all things youthful and beautiful... Carven's SS2012 menswear have resonated with many new male fans, me included, with their debut menswear.

Guillaume Henry has done a nostalgic take on his version of the Carven man, something that is both charming and fresh, yet playful with a french attitude. These are clothes what your brother will wear or perhaps you would too if you have not 'outgrown' them physically. Cropped proportions, preppy blazers and slightly flared shorts in vibrant hues all make up the boyish appeal. One of the key accents in many looks were this very special leather pocket protectors that appeared on pockets of shirts and blazers, something little boys wear to shield their clothes from pen stains. But done in Carven's way, it creates a sartorial flair by way of colour and interesting styling... I love it!

Below: The pocket protectors comes in many colours and are featured prominently in Carven's SS2012 lookbook...

Hence, I got mine today in a nice tan brown at Club 21 Mens, Four Seasons Hotel today. It was the only piece brought in... but you can order them at www.ssense.com or www.farfetch.com if keen.

Can't wait to put this on and get regressed to adolescence.

My Shoe Collection #56

Below: Return of the track shoes... New Balance style...
Below: I got my pair today... a hybrid sports and trekking style with metal eyelet shoe lace loops and chunky boot soles... Love hybrid styles. Wear them with chinos or cargo trousers or suits!

Below: Guys are wearing New Balance shoes all over...

New Balance Shoes Are In!

One of the most surprising trends that surfaced during the mens Pitti Immagine Uomo FW2011 in Florence was the return of track shoes as daily shoes. New Balance seems to be the favoured brand all the fashionable boys turned to... all thanks to their classic retro designs given a new update. Wear them with chinos, cargo trousers and suit it up:-) Sports inspired styles meet boardroom. A surprising mix of preppy sporty cool. I love the look! Tommy Ton is sported adopting this trend too, so why not you?:-)

That's how I ended up with my very own pair of New Balance today. Mine's all black with stunning red laces...hybrid with trekking and sportive details. Love the metal eyelets for the laces and the rugged boot soles. How cool! Kinda reminds me of DSquared2 without the price tag. Retails for only SGD129.

There are other designs such as the bright green version with trekking laces (brass ends on the laces is a brilliant detail) with chunky soles (SGD199). Love it.

Get your pair soon! Visit the New Balance store (Singapore, Orchard Road) at Scape if you are keen.

Below: This is one of my favourite looks! Love the burnt orange and grass green colour combination...
Clément Chabernaud In Zara Spring Summer 2012 - April Mens Lookbook

Clément Chabernaud is the face of Zara SS2012 Mens Lookbook for April. Dashing in Balmain and many other luxury brands' advertising campaign, Clément makes Zara look equally appealing!

I love the new SS2012 collection for Zara. The cuts are definitely much slimmer which is great news for slim folks like me. But the highly wearable styles is on trend and yet practical for the season. Coloured chinos are all the rage, as does driving shoes, tasseled loafers, nautical inspirations and flamboyant prints, Zara has it all for you to create the perfect summer wardrobe, at a fraction of your budget:-)

Below: Printed trousers and shirts... perfect for this flamboyant SS2012 menswear season...

I am definitely shopping Zara this weekend. Going to try on that grass green 'cargo' style slim leg trousers (SGD129). The colour work so well with the burnt orange blazer. Of course, Clément sold the look 100% for me!
