The Runway Sniper #08

Helmut Lang Fall Winter 2008/2009 Menswear

It seems comeback season is here! At least for me. I was googling thru the internet searching for pictures of the latest Helmut Lang collection and I was duly surprised at how much I am attracted to the menswear design. Clean, understated and yet sharply cut with interesting draping, collar details and exceptional choice of materials. With the closure of menswear at Miu Miu and Rykiel Homme, I applaud this new Helmut Lang arriving to the shores of Singapore! Thanks to Club 21's Blackjack store, we now have the chance to once again wear and enjoy the continuation of Helmut Lang's creative vision.

Michael and Nicole Colovos now heads the creative reins of this once respected and intellectual brand since the namesake designer left the brand. They retain the intellectually rigorous approach to fashion, while steering clear of slavish retread. Up until spring 2008, only small capsule collections were launched. So for fall winter another set of exceptionally appealing and urban sharp looks have been created. I look forward to checking out this new collection as the pics look really promising. It will be a departure from my usual D&G looks:-) I would love a change in style next season:-P For me, the first look with the draping collared hoodie, and the fifth look with the open collared sweatshirt is to die for!

The hoodie in the first picture looks interesting, but I wonder how the neck falls when actually wearing the piece and in motion.

Hi I fall in love with your blog after reading it when I was searching for the YSL downtown in Google. I am from Singapore too but have since moved to Sydney in 2004, the shops here are dreadful........... Thanks for keeping people like myself updated! Good on ya! Do you have any idea if they will make the besace YSL in blue instead of grey?? I am saving to buy it. Plus I really like your downtown! I have a regular looking one that is made of canvas.

Hi fashionisto,

Yes, I love the way the hoodie drapes. It's very unique. Have to try it to see if it fits well.

And Ken, welcome to my blog. Yeah, I agree...sydney is not the best place for shopping labels. Besace will be made in a large size this coming fall as another blogger enquired at YSL london and they told him so. So watch out for the large size which is so much appropriate for guys. As for colours, I am not sure if they will do one in blue. What sort of blue are you referring to? Jeans blue? Navy blue? Navy blue might be a possibility as that is pretty basic colour. Plus, besace bags do come in canvas material as well. Have seen it on magazines. I love the downtown range in canvas. I love bags that are easy to maintain:-) And canvas is a great material!
