Daniel & Bob Mens Leather Bags

A trip to Japan and I am totally overwhelmed with the amount of inspirations and ideas, especially in the realm of mens' fashion. Immaculately dressed gentlemen who idolised Italian and European styles are seen in abundance on every street corner of Tokyo.

And of course, being a bag fan, I am constantly on the lookout for new bag designs and brands to share with my fellow bag fans. One of the brands I am going to go gaga about today is Daniel & Bob. Not exactly well known in Singapore as well as lesser known in other parts of the world... the brand is actually making highly desirable men's bags known only to the savvy few. Of course, Japan being a front runner in adopting all things trend forward, welcomes this brand. Seen and sold in stores such as Daimaru, Edifice, Beams etc... the bags have an Italian sensuality while focusing functionality and design.

I am especially in love with the slightly distressed leather (or the croc embossed print), deliberately wrinkled to give a interesting texture. My favourite from their selections has to be the Culodoro Rodi tote (380 x 440 x 240mm) which comprises of 2 sets of handles, one long and one short for varied ways of carrying the bag. Hold it in your hands, sling it over your shoulders... carry it anyway you want it.

These balloon shape totes come in gorgeous hues of khaki, navy, browns, beiges and black, you are definitely spoilt for choice.

I also notice hobo style bags being widely adopted by Japanese guys. This design is usually seen on the arms of women, and hence can appear to be too feminine a shape for men. But Daniel & Bob's version simply has that slightly rugged appeal, correct proportions to make hobo style bags a nod with even the most conservative guys. I love the oversized Joshua Rodi hobo (380 x 430 x 180mm), or the slightly smaller Jasmine Rodi hobo (360 x 350 x 140mm). Both are equally appealing in their offerings of colours ( I die for the orange coloured version!). Comes with a handy canvas shoulder strap that transforms the bag into a messenger style, or hand carry as a tote. How versatile!

Pricing wise, Daniel & Bob is very reasonable. Culodoro Rodi retails for ¥87,150 (SGD1362), while Jasmine Rodi and Joshua Rodi costs ¥84,000 (SGD1312) and ¥98,700 (SGD1542) respectively.

Next time, I head to Japan, I will be sure to bring one Daniel & Bob home!
