The Material Boy #330

YMC Canvas And Leather Lace-ups

It is rare to find sale items from previous seasons available at the shops after the end of seasonal sales. But the joys of online shopping ensures you still find good bargains all year round, becos some online retailers retain their markdown items on their website, mostly heavily discounted. Although the selection may be very limited and usually odd sizing and designs are left, there are still gems to be uncovered for the lucky few to score a big bargain.

I managed to find a pair of shoes that I thought looked smart and casual in a TDF (to die for) price! At just US $105, it is almost too good to be true! This pair of YMC (short for You Must Create) shoes has an interesting mix of materials. Half the body is constructed of beige coloured canvas and the other half (where the shoe lace flaps are) with tan leather. A simple mix of textures and you get an interesting and drool worthy shoe. I love that casual smart appeal where you can wear it with jeans and still look preppy. Great with plaids and tweeds which is on trend for Fall Winter 2009. The shoe design worked all seasons!:-P The pointy shape and wooden sole are elegant touches and makes the shoe look dandy-ish. What can you ask of a pair of good shoes at such a good price! If you are a size 41...grab it!

As for those of you who do not know what the brand is, here's a little background of YMC:

Formed in London in 1995 by Fraser moss and Jimmy Collins in response to increasing demand for stylish, functional, modern clothing. YMC has quietly grown to become a highly significant design label. When asked how he saw the future of design, graphic artist Raymond Loewy, pioneer of American Industrial Design reasoned that "you must create your own design style" it is this philosophy that inspires YMC. YMC are not led or influenced by seasonal trends but try to provide the solution for intelligent clothing that is both wearable and distinctive. Collections gradually develop from season to season whilst a modernist approach that ensures good ideas maintain longevity. You Must Create
