Launching 6 November worldwide: Alexander Wang x H&M Mens Bags and Shoes

If you are a H&M designer collaboration fan, a sports enthusiast, a worshiper of all things black...then the upcoming Alexander Wang x H&M Collection will tickle your fancy.

Sportive influences abound in the entire collection, offering fans a slice of Alexander Wang’s urban attitude style at attainable prices. Although I am not entirely sold on the looks... but I am sure a lot of urbanites will be making a beeline for the collection once it launches worldwide and online on 6 November.

So let’s take a closer look at what’s on offer at the accessories front...namely the bags and shoes. Expect gym ready duffle bags, backpacks to spice up your fitness sessions. An all black ensemble of sleek metal hardware, oversized branded zipper pulls and scuba/rubber materials are signatures of the collection. Water repellent is key consideration as well, so you can be sure these backpacks will come in handy during year end’s rainy wet weather. The footwear comes with Scuba diving inspired styling, made with rubber, leather and scuba materials.

All in all, this collection exemplifies hi performance gear for the active modern individual.  What’s critical now is to start pumping up those muscles, so you look the part when you buy into the collection this Thursday (6 Nov)!

My MANy Bags News #340

Below: Bangkok will welcome 3 fashion powerhouses to their retail scene very soon, all thanks to Club 21 Global. Lanvin...

Below: Alexander Wang... (Girls start screaming!)

Below: and my most anticipated... Givenchy! Club 21 members with discount privileges can enjoy their discounts now (yes even in Bangkok!) and no longer have to pay full retail like in Singapore (Singapore's Givenchy is operated by FJ Benjamin)...

myMANybags Shopping Intelligence: New Stores Opening Soon In Bangkok By Club 21 Global

Having just gotten back from a weekend getaway to the land of smiles... I thought I share some 'shopping intelligence' with fellow shopping fans who shares my love for Bangkok.

If you think Singapore's luxury retail scene is unbeatable in our region... think thrice. Our friendly neighbour, Bangkok is also getting a boost in their luxury offerings with impending addition of 3 fashion powerhouses to the city of angels (and shopping!). All operated by my favourite luxury retailer, Club 21 Global. French chic Lanvin, New York edgy Alexander Wang (Favourite for models! Singapore seems to be opening one soon too!), and avant garde Givenchy will all have their own standalone store in Bangkok soon! (all located inside Erawan Bangkok.)

If that's not enough reason to get you planning a trip to the city of angels... then how about Club 21's membership discounts and vouchers being applicable in Bangkok as well? That means, you will enjoy not paying full retail plus reward points accumulation even when you are shopping outside of Singapore's Club 21 Global operated boutiques. I am thrilled with this piece of news, especially since Givenchy in Singapore is operated by FJ Benjamin (which I do not have any discount privileges).

Time to fly to Bangkok again:-P Live the high life: Eat, spa and literally shop shop till u drop!

(Download Club 21 Global's new smart phone app here which will ensure you stay updated with shopping news both in Singapore and Bangkok. And get information on lifestyle and dining privileges in both cities... all at your fingertips!)

The Material Boy #437

Below: Alexander Wang Kirsten Multi-Strap Tote (£742)... this is one 'messy' design for a bag... all those straps going in all directions. But in a strange way, it's dishevelled beauty... and I am drawn to it...

Below: Alexander Wang Ingrid Multi-Strap Shoulder Bag (£633)... comes in a messenger bag style as well. Love the sand suede colour...

Alexander Wang Kirsten Multi-Strap Tote + Ingrid Multi Strap Shoulder Bag

I am strangely drawn to these new SS2011 bags from Alexander Wang...

They looked messy. They looked confusing to figure out which strap does what and where the handles are. They looked visually stressful ... but in a peculiar way, where lies the chaos, there is beauty...

What do you guys think? Mess or mesmerising?

Gender Bender #57

Alexander Wang Ines Oxford Leather Shoes

At first glance, I thought these were men's shoes. On second glance, I realised they were women's cos I notice the source site for the pics was Net-a-porter. These Alexander Wang Ines Oxfords look so androgynous that I have confidence any guy can pull them off, make a cool statement and yet not being mocked!!! :-P

The simple 'laceless' design, clean lines and black leather reveals no signs of femininity. Dress up or down, they seem to work in any occasion. But unlike any regular bloke's leather shoes, the heels are of such interesting sculptural design that gives the shoes an immediate boost to literally 'feet' art status! Ultra cool and indifferent, I expect lots of envious peers asking you where you got the shoes from.

Now the bad news, these women's Oxfords come in very small sizes. Size 40 is the largest and few guys can squeeze into that. Even if your feet is a men's 40, I highly doubt it will be the same as a women's size 40. I assume it will still be a tight fit.
Are there any shoe experts out there that can enlighten me whether if men's size 40 is similar or are they different to women's size 40?

Such a shoe candy to ogle over and yet not being able to fit... it's like dangling a carrot in front of a rabbit... the kind of 'helpless lust':-P

(BTW, all the online sites that I can track this shoe sold out for size 40 of this black leather pair...)

My MANy Bags News #108

Below: T By Alexander Wang Menswear Line...

Below: Alexander Wang Menswear Spring Summer 2010...

Alexander Wang Spring Summer 2010 Menswear

Hot on the trail of Christophe Decarnin who did his Balmain menswear collection after the resounding success of his womenswear, Alexander Wang is the next designer tapping on this progression.

Sassy, easy, party clothes of Alexander Wang's womenswear collection is gaining attention from the fashion crowds all over the world and this season sees his Coco Mini Duffel Bag a hot sellout with many retailers. So to keep the $$$ flowing, Alexander Wang has now targeted milking men's wallets after successfully causing hemorrhaging of the ladies' bank account. Here's a first look at his new Spring Summer 2010 Menswear collection together with his T by Alexander Wang line of basics.

Wang's original concept was to design unisex clothing which means that the line was a long time coming. The first T By Alexander Wang men's collection keeps with Wang's signature glamour-athletic look. His Spring Summer 2010 collection follows this theme.

“It’s strange that so many designers are doing men’s now, but for us it’s a component that’s always been there,” said Wang. “The idea has always been there, I’m just expanding it.” Wang is already rockin’ his men’s pieces out and out downtown, he just couldn’t resist the samples.

How do you guys find the collection? For me, it's kinda bland since expectations were high after seeing what he has done with his womenswear. I hope there will be more exciting and unique pieces beyond the looks presented here, there is a promising star in Alexander Wang:-)

Alexander Wang Fall Winter 2009 Bags

Givenchy and Balmain has inspired a fashion tribe that saw influences from the 80's and packed with a mean attitude and goth/rock edge. Alexander Wang's new Fall Winter 2009 should appeal to these faithful followers but with a strong, sassy and young direction. The clothes are sexy and gorgeous while his accessories, especially bags are somewhat highly note-worthy and coveted.

Way before his collection hits the runway, one of his bag designs, the Coco Duffel has already cause a huge buzz among fashion fanatics and many have already anxiously awaiting its arrival in the stores. All thanks to Mary Kate Olsen who is often the best 'spokesperson' of all things hip:-P What she wears and uses, everyone follows. Swinging on her arms way before the debut of Alexander Wang's runway show, Mary Kate has since set hearts fluttering at the rock chic beauty of the Coco Duffel's soft lambskin bag and gorgeous studded base. Rocker gals and 'style valiant' punk boys, this is the bag for you! (The size is somewhat small, so the boys will have to be very confident and bold in order flaunt this beauty. A reader has already sought my opinion about the bag and my advice is if you think you can rock it, then go ahead. On Pedder Singapore stocks this bag if any of you is interested. Price is around SGD $2300)

Alexander Wang's other bag designs are also equally interesting. Distressed and washed leathers in predominant colours of black add to a dark and sexy design theme. Simple and not over wrought with rocker bling, these bags have a 'understated' allure. The huge weekender size Daphne Duffel could be a good candidate for the boys who wants some of this rock chic style.

I am keenly awaiting to see if Alexander Wang will hear my pleas and come up with a larger size Coco duffel. I am now smitten by those 'feisty' looking studs:-P
