Le Meridien Bangkok

One of the latest gems to be uncovered in Bangkok’s vibrant hotel scene is the new Le Meridien Bangkok. Being the flagship property in Asia under Le Meridien’s new global rebranding, the hotel is a perfect example where art, design, fashion and fine food culture co-exist seamlessly to present an inspirational and unique hotel experience to its guests.

Opening its doors just recently in Dec 2008, the 282 guestrooms, 24 storey of brilliant architecture in glass and steel stands proud in one of the most vibrant district of Bangkok, Silom. Mere steps away are bustling local night markets, exciting bar scenes and convenient access to public transportation which adds to the appeal of the hotel. The Le Meridien Bangkok experience starts right from the moment you step into the contemporary and spacious lobby, with Ralph Gibson photographic prints adorning the glass facade and 24 hours nature sounds playing to your ears. This pleasant sensory impression kick starts the array of attentive and innovative details within the hotel that truly sets it apart from competitors.

Great service abounds. Friendly and very obliging staff shows the level of attentiveness the hotel is committed to its guests. You instantly feel welcome with the smiles that greet you in every corner.

The guestrooms rooms are decked out in soft beiges, whites and dark wood while juxtaposing with modern touches of Thai influences. Ethnic inspired fabrics and patterns, with an artfully written poem in thai (meaning “May the wing of winds please her mind. May the light of love please her soul. May the sweetest scent of all kind. May her dream, fold on fold she finds.”) graced the impeccably decroated rooms. The signature Le Meridien beds offers utmost restfulness as if you float on the air while luxurious bedding guarantees an optimal level of comfort. Hi-tech embellishments such as a 32-inch Sony Bravia LCD TV, touch-screen IP phones, iPod Charger and wireless high speed internet ensures the technologically savvy traveller's needs are fully met. The spacious marbled bathroom allows you the option of indulging in a soothing rain shower or soaking in the over-sized tub where you can open up the mirrored partitions and overlook the room with a spectacular cityscape view from the floor to ceiling window. All these features attributes to a refined living space that extends beyond just a room to rest for the evening.

While staying in the hotel, remember to check out the eclectic and contemporary Bamboo Chic bar, with it multi illuminated, Asian inspired ambiance. Or the relaxing Tempo bar which hovers over the hotels lobby and allows an excellent vantage point to watch the world go by. Culinary enthusiasts can also look forward to an adventure of the taste buds with the hotel’s innovative restaurant, Latest Recipe where the chef plays an engaging role with the guests and prepares the dishes live according to the guest’s wishes.

As part of Le Meridien’s Unlock Art program, Le Meridien Bangkok has also partnered up with the Thailand Creative & Design Center to offer guests complimentary access thru your artist-designed room key cards to its facility just a short tuk tuk ride away. In addition, the hotel’s map goes well beyond identifying the standard tourist traps by highlighting prominent cultural institutions such as museums, libraries, bookstores, and art galleries.

Le Meridien Bangkok is indeed an oasis of luxurious, cultured living for savvy travellers of our modern day and time. I have enjoyed my stay there and will definitely be headed back for my next visit to Bangkok. Good hotels inspires, and Le Meridien Bangkok does that and more:-)
