The Runway Sniper #50

Below: Frida Giannini looks to the Gucci archives and referenced back to the heritage of the brand with emphasis on
simple refined legance... A simple cashmere turtleneck, slim blazers and pants often matched with an oversized travel bag...

Below: Animal prints on the blazer is a memorable piece from the collection...

Gucci Fall Winter 2010 Menswear

Gucci has been lost on my fashion radar for a while, especially after being put off with the over detailed and 'over-flooded (in the streets)' monogram pieces, seen on the arms of teenagers and aunties alike. Even the ready to wear pieces focused too much on the Gucci branding that it has become a living human advertising platform rather than clothes.

But Fall Winter 2010 saw a return to the elegance of Gucci, as worn by stylish men (Peter Sellers, Samuel Beckett) back in the 60's/70's - the golden era where Gucci flourished. Frida Giannini introduced subtle basics in luxurious materials, slim stovepipe pants matched with cosy turtle necks and oversize simple luggage bags for a refined gentlemen feel. She mentioned it is in the attitude of the clothes that made the collection not on the innovating a new construction for the pieces. I love the camel coloured palette and the amazing range of materials used in the collection. The leopard print blazer may seem awkward to wear for some men, but I thought it stood out and leave a good impression on the runway. I also like the quilted jacket in sand colour which whispered luxury at its best. And a new shape of bag, named the Half Moon Bag, makes for an interesting take on man bag design.

I am featuring some backstage pics of models having some fun posing instead of the actual runway pics. All of you should have seen too much of runway pics by now. These pics gives a glimpse of the show backstage and we see the playful side of the boys. Some looking really funny while still looking so cute, you literally wanna pinch them in the cheeks:-P

Enjoy!

I fell in love with the half moon bag. I live in NY and they had the trunk show there of all the runway pieces. The blue one, which i thought was going to be suede is actually nubuck leather. I was astonished when I opened the bag and saw a price of only $890! I called over the SA and ordered it instantly!
