Press Day Visit #02: Mulberry Spring Summer 2011 Bag Collection

More Press Day coverage at Club 21 Global's Como House earlier this week:-) Here's the report from my Mulberry showroom tour of their upcoming Spring Summer 2011 bags.

Each season, Mulberry provides their loyal fans with a huge selection of bags, ranging from updated classics to new designs. Spring Summer 2011 is no exception. Amongst the many choices we are lovingly showered with, I had a very tough time narrowing it down to this few I adore the most. Not that I am becoming a girl, but if I was (which is not likely to happen, I like being a guy:-P), these are the bags I would carry myself:-P Girls always seem to have more fun in fashion and I am sometimes very jealous.

1) The Tillie family is new to the season and takes on the hot trend of school bag style satchels which everyone is clamouring about. The Tillie family is relaxed in shape (I especially love the soft and slouchy powder beige sparkle tweed, exemplifying the casual 'one bag fits all occassions' attitude) and characterised by eye catching trompe l’oeil hardware closure (a luxe solid metal piece engraved with outlines of a belt buckle, creating a new hardware signature).

The Tillie family's consists of 3 key styles, the Tillie, Tillie Tote and Tillie Hobo (there are also additional variants such as Oversized Tillie, Tillie Drawstring Shoulder and Small Tillie Drawstring Messenger) These 3 key styles is created to suit the lifestyle of any cool and sassy Mulberry girl. Both the Tillie and Tillie Tote have a shoulder strap that allows for hands free cross body carrying, while allowing for hand carry option. The Tillie Hobo on the other hand has a smarter appeal and looks ready to carry it all for the working girl. A glamourous bag for both office and off-work play time. Special thanks to Mulberry's sweet and pretty PR, I am able to demonstrate how the bag looks on a actual person (the benefits of showroom visits!). From the modelling pics, size is simply proportionately perfect for any girl. Wear the Tillie in your way, sweet or sassy? You decide:-)

Below: The sweet Powder Beige Tillie is the epitome of masculine/feminine contrast... a school boy style satchel that seems to share the same attitude of its famous sister, Alexa... except the Tillie has more bling and glam with those metal hardware. Don't you love the rose gold colour of the hardware?

Below: The trompe l’oeil closure buckle is a signature detail of the Tillie family:-)

Below: Comes in Oak Silky Snake Print with a chain shoulder strap... a touch of exotic and bling to up the luxe factor!

Below: Details on the side...the Oak Silky Snake Print is trimmed with metallic leather and embellished with metal rivets:-)

Below: The D-Ring hardware on the front, another recognisable detail for the Tillie family...

Below: A versatile style, the Tillie Hobo is just right in proportion never overwhelming a girl's build, and yet functions perfectly as an easy tote with options to hand carry or arm sling...

Below: The Tillie Hobo no the other hand, is smart and roomy for all your office needs...

2) Another of my favourite is the Small Bayswater Satchel. Bayswater is the bag that propelled Mulberry's to fashion stardom and success. I welcome this update to the now classic design. Trimming it down to a more petite size and added a shoulder strap, this is one bag for lazy afternoon tea and a stroll in the city. This version of Powder Beige Maxi Grained Leather and Rose Gold hardware will especially win the hearts of many girls.

Below: First impressions of the Small Bayswater Satchel is 'SO CUTE'... A dainty bag for all those afternoon high teas and sunday shopping...

Below: Looks great being shoulder carried:-P Don't you agree?

Below: Rose gold hardware is simply gorgeous...

3) Lastly, the most scene stealing bag amongst the entire collection and also one of the most expensive Mulberry bag ever made... The Jewelled Lily in Camel Suede. Intricately embellished with aplenty gold studs, diamonte and crystals, this meticulously crafted 'work-of-art' outshines its bag peers and is the ultimate show-stopping arm candy for evening parties. That is if you can 'shoulder' the weight (so much studs!) and also the astronomical price tag of approx. SGD9,000:-)

Below: Pricing is astronomical and perhaps not for everyone... but undeniably the Jewelled Lily in Camel Suede is one scene strealer with all that bling and glam:-P

Below: Look at the intricate work involved to decorate the entire Lily bag:-P

Which one will you pick? With so many styles, there's bound to be one Mulberry that will tickle your fancy this Spring Summer 2011:-)

I was researching Mulberrys and your blog came up in the search.

I love your collection!

Do you think the Bayswater small is a good size for everyday use? How much can you fit into it?
