Balmain Homme Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook
The Balmain man is laying down his combat boots, biker and military coats for a more casual sartorial styling. At least for Spring Summer 2013, that is. Olivier Rousteing proposes a slightly different take for his SS2013 Balmain menswear, with the introduction of more sartorial pieces to the looks. Tailoring styles in exchange for all the grunge we have grown to love and hate from previous seasons. Khaki chino rolled up at ankle length, worn sockless with monkstrap lace-ups. No more pairing with boots nor distressed leather jackets for a change, which is welcoming to inspire a new way to create the Balmain look.
Tailored jackets are also key to the new collection. Less grunge and more polished with cropped length for a semi formal look. However, the diehard Balmain grunge fans need not falter in their loyalty, the biker and military influences are still present, albeit in more subtle doses. In my opinion, I am all for this new direction. Even the biker dudes needs to take a break from all that heavy metal and distressed leather sometimes, afterall, variety is the very spice of life.
