My Bag Collection #43

Balenciaga Spring Summer 2009 Anthracite Weekender Bag

Greetings from sunny Hua Hin! I have been lacking on posting for my blog ever since I arrived in Hua Hin on Thursday morning. To be honest, I had the most stressful of days before the trip. So much work to rush out, which is typical of 'pre holiday frenzy'! I totally dislike it but can't help it. It seems that stress has filtered down to yesterday which sees me unable to ease up. That is...until my relaxing oil massage this morning.:-) So feeling refreshed and awaiting my room service, I am finally able to sit down and start a bit of 'much-lacking' blogging from the past few days.

And to kick start...the long overdue unveiling of my Balenciaga purchase! Yes, as many of you may have guessed right...I finally got one of my 'dream' bags...the Balenciaga Weekender Bag, in Spring Summer 2009 Anthracite colour! Not being able to track down the much loved argent colour, I settled for the next best hue...a deeper gray...anthracite. A new interpretation of the dark grey for this season, embodying a slightly more bluish undertone than fall 2008's charcoal gray. What truly captivates me about this bag beyond the colour is the classic style of this bag. Totally timeless, and yet ever so chic, the weekender has gotten into my list of 'must-have' bags to collect.

I first enquire about this bag in anthracite colour at the Balenciaga store at Hilton hotel just before Christmas 2008. The SAs have told me they will arrive sometime after Christmas and having left my name down at the store, they promise to inform me when stock arrives. And they did! I immediately went down to the store over boxing day. Only 3 pieces of the weekender bag in Anthracite colour were stocked there for this Spring Summer 2009 season. I was the very first to see this bag. Being the first, I had the privilege of selecting among the 3 pieces and picked what I thought was the best looking bag out of the 3.:-) Yeah, yeah, I am being picky or I should say discerning.:-)

I made my pick and promptly paid for this belated Christmas present, meant as a blog anniversary gift:-) Which is why I delayed the unveiling until my blog hits its 1st year anniversary. Woohoo!

I love Balenciaga and this weekender bag. Very versatile in look, it almost goes with anything I could wear. The deep bluish hued gray colour is neutral and yet versatile which makes matching outfits easy as a breeze! The leather is again in sumptuous distress goat skin, having a soft and buttery feel. The tassels add a sense of nonchalance and I am a fan of how they swing as you 'work' the bag. I also adore the idea of a mirror attached with the bag, especially handy for those unexpected wind swept days (yes, this is the women's weekender to have a mirror. I find the men's range too boring in colours and handles too long for my liking). As a Classic Club 21 cardmember, I also scored a 10% discount for this bag which never goes on sale.

One 'most wanted/classic' bag off my wishlist...so what's next?:-P

(Pardon my bad grammar...I think I was too lazy to do an edit and post this without checking:-P Holiday mood lah!)

Retail price: SGD $2769. Where to buy: Balenciaga Boutique at Hilton Hotel

no you are definitely not discerning, but very very picky and choosy. whichever SA who serves you are unlucky to have a choosy customer like you!

Hey Tom,

if you think you are so kind and ever so understanding when you pay huge amounts of money to buy something, please feel free to. I am not you. and I do not have to get you to approve what I do. Who are you? it's my money to spend, not yours. I am definitely not those people with no standards. and please please stay away from my blog. I cannot stand silly people like you reading my blog. please have some dignity...it's so pathetic of you to still linger around when you are not welcome here. This will be the last time I am going to publish your nonsense. Have good fun 'haressing' other like-minded noble people like yourself.:-P

Dear Kevin,

Congrats, nice weekender. I went Balenciaga at Hilton last week, they have 2 colours left if i remembered correctly. Too bad Men's Collection Weekender is no longer available at Club 21, the SA at Hilton told me they will not bring in anymore Men's Weekender. Not much difference except without mirror & longer handle which i prefer.

Kevin @ myMANybags said...

Thanks anthony...yes, Club 21 men is not stocking men's weekender this season as apparently the buyer told me it was not available for men this season. They had very nice courier bags in Sanguine and officer...very beautiful colours and reasonably priced.

And Jurr...lol..dun be:-) there will be other bags that you will find equally to your liking too!:-P

hey i bought a weekender in dark vintage brown and i am kinda regreting. all my firends say that bag is a bit too homo and i seiorusly have no courage to use it agian,,,,,because i am so afraid of what ppl is goin to think of me. and i dont wanna be a public joke carryin the bag around downtown. so what should i do OMG

Kevin @ myMANybags said...

Hi Anonymous, ask yourself...are you going to not carry the bag just becos of your friends 'discriminatory' comments? In this present age and time, is there such a thing as a homo bag and a straight bag? what era are your friends living in?

Trust yourself...believe in what you feel works for you. And since you are already into fashion and style, I guess in their books, it's already one of the most 'homo' thing to be interested in. But are you willing to forgo all that?

Ponder over it. Dun let others rule your life. You are what you are, a few comments cannot change who you are. So why bother.
