Christian Louboutin Freddy Flat

I have officially gone to 'rock' heaven and back:-) yes, and with a pair of the most 'devilishly delish' shoes available in recent months... Christian Louboutin's Freddy Flats!

I have left my name at the Singapore Christian Louboutin boutique, called to check a couple of times and now finally these shoes are in my possession. It's a dream come true!

While enquiring at the Singapore boutique, I was surprised that there is a huge difference in pricing for the women's and men's version. The former costing SGD $1600 and the latter a hefty SGD $2500! Is that 'gender discrimination', Mr Louboutin? Why do guys have to pay like a thousand bucks more for these cool feet candy?!?! I protest!

Worst part of all, I checked 2 times with the Christian Louboutin sales staff and they all told me there is no difference in the design between both male and female versions except women's sizes run smaller and men's bigger. Women's sizing run up to size 41 and men's sizing starts from size 41.

Since I wear size 40 for shoes, the SA put my name down on a size 40 women's pair (with tremendous savings on price!) but I was skeptical about me fitting that since there must be some difference between a men and women's version of size 40. Singapore stores will carry women's sizes till size 40. While men will get them from size 41 and above. I crossed my fingers I do not have to pay men's pricing of $2500 for a same pair of shoes that the ladies can enjoy at almost half the price. I left the shop praying hard and my 'prayers' kinda get answered a few weeks later:-P

While doing some blog research, I chanced upon these Freddy Flat available online at www.brownsfashion.com. And best news was their women's sizes run up till 41 and not 40! I knew I have to act fast and grab them they sold out. I placed my orders right away but was informed the next day that their system had an error and the shoes in size 41 was sold out! Such a disappointment. However, the sales department at Browns informed me that there may be an order cancellation so I was asked to wait for any good news. I was so determined to get the shoes, and not wanting to miss out on them, I called Browns in UK and change my order to a size 40.5. Fortunately, before my order gets shipped, the kind folks at Browns emailed me to let me know size 41 was available again and they will ship me my original order. I was of course exhilarated at the good news which was a blessing in disguise.

When the shoes arrived yesterday, I was bothered by the teeny weeny shoe box size of my parcel. I was getting worried that the shoes might be too small. As soon as I get home, I tried on the shoes, which to my relief, they fit! I thought to myself if I had gone thru with a size 40.5, the shoes would have been too small. Thank the shopping gods for making size 41 available to me!

The shoes are indeed glamorous and beautifully made. Every stud, every thread meticulously crafted. The contrast of patent and regular calf leather adds a different textural appeal while the signature striking red soles are a real head turner!

Although I would have gotten size 42 for a perfect fit, I am already thankful that I saved more than $1k (which is going to another cool shoe!) on the purchase. The design of the Freddy Flat is more refined than Prada's studded version. It has a shorter, smaller heel, thinner soles and a comfortable round toe fit. Classic look with a bad boy edge!

I am now a Christian Louboutin convert. Now my 'headache' lies in which glamorous occasions should I wear these 'red carpet' worthy shoes? Any fashion events happening soon?:-P

Retail price: £630. Where to buy: www.brownsfashion.com

Just an advise dont wear them if you go out clubbing.... the red sole is very sensitive....

I got the same pair back in December and I love them. Congrats on having small feet and getting the cheaper version lol...

I've worn them out on the cobble streets of NY so the bottoms have worn down, but shoes are meant to be worn! Enjoy~

Will you wear your louboutins out? I see that the soles are leather and red. Pharrel's look beaten up as well. I just got the Stingray Orwells myself last week, and decided to have them as indoor shoes instead so as not to damage the delicate leather. Congratulations on your purchase, they are a stunner!

Studs look hard and this red sole.. Omg.

Kevin @ myMANybags said...

Hey Tom, shoes are meant to be worn...and soles getting beaten up comes with the use:-)

So just enjoy the shoes as it should be... no need to get worried about the soles being worn out, you should enbjoy them! Especially when they are louboutins, all the more to make the maximum use of what you paid for them!

I think my first comment didn't go through because of that stupid firewall at the office.

congratulations, Kev! I'm so happy for you. And jealous at the same time. haha

If you have Collonil there in Singapore, look for the leather sole protector. It's colorless and will protect your leather soles from water and will make your shoes last longer.

Gorgeous, I couldn't breath for a second. It seems like a lot of work to get them but the result is heavenly...

Kevin @ myMANybags said...

Thank you everyone! Yes, Sean, a lot of work in a way...almost could not get them in the right size. Size 42 would have been perfect, I am contented for this smaller one at a hefty price difference!

Hahaha...yes, Joe, I was crossing my fingers it will fit. An expensive mistake if it does not. But fortunately, Browns can do refunds and returns...so that lessen the risk! Share your Milan photos, so exciting to see what you have snap with your camera!

Nathaniel and Skippy, yes, wear them till they are worth every cent you paid for them! Hahaha. a red carpet worthy shoe indeed.:-P

Allan, I will check out the collonil. Thanks for the tip!

very very nice! I don't own a pair of CLs at all. I'm not able to justify paying so much for a pair of shoes.....yet! I'll go back to bags, jewelry and furniture for that. But I do enjoy looking at them on uber stylish folks like you!

Hi, may i know which US size are you for mens? Thanks!

Kevin @ myMANybags said...

I am US size 7.

Anonymous said...

So...if I'm a US8 and I bought a 41.5 do you think it would be a very tight fit?

Kevin @ myMANybags said...

Hi Anony,

If you are buying men's sizing, then perhaps that will work. Do enquire at the store if they run true to size.

But if that's a women's size, then I fear they might be tight for you. I wear 7 and I feel size 42 will be a better fit. No doubt I can squeeze into a size 41, it can get a bit tight in some places. I am hoping the leather expands and stretches after a few wears.

Cheers,

Kevin

I'm so very jealous... I hope I happen upon a pair that fits me perfectly and isn't so hard on my wallet.

Here's to hoping!

Hi can someone help me in finding the right matching between men and women sizes in Louboutin Louis sneakers? I'm a 40,5 in men size.

Thanks
