Corto Moltedo in Singapore For An Exclusive Preview from 26 April at Marina Bay Sands Hotel

Yes, Singapore has gotten attention from yet another international luxury fashion brand... this time it's Italian brand, Corto Moltedo. If you are asking who is this brand... be assured, it's a fashionista's best kept secret. Gaining more and more traction with fashion fans the likes of Bryanboy, Anna Dello Russo and many more, Corto Moltedo's highly successful clutch bags are a favourite during fashion week and more!

And one more interesting trivia about the brand... do you know Corto Moltedo is the son of Laura and Vittorio Moltedo, the founders of Bottega Veneta? Now you know:-) No wonder I see certain resemblance of the box clutch bags between the 2 brands. GabrieleCorto Moltedo launched his brand in Paris in 2004, and while born and raised in New York City has consistently maintain an Italian sensibility in his work. He designs from his base in France and his own R&D atelier in Florence. Inspired by icons like Priscilla Presley or friends like Susan Bender, he has created two bags (Susan and Priscilla) that are still today best sellers of the house.

Pop by Corto Moltedo's exclusive preview at the Marina Bay Sand hotel on the 26th, 27th and 28th of April, during this very limited time their SS2012 collection will be on sale for the very first time in Singapore.

The Material Boy #531

Below: Spotted this over the past weekend and I am immediately sold... Louis Vuitton's Trunks Shawl in Silk and Wool featuring vintage trunks and tartan patterns is one fine piece of neckwear any season, anytime!
Below: Comes in brown and also this black version... versatile colours for any savvy men:-)

Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2011 Mens Trunks Shawl

Summer time is barely here, but I am already planning my Fall Winter wardrobe essentials. Not because I am crazy, but you can hardly pass up on something this luxurious and beautiful when you come across one. Yes, I am talking about Louis Vuitton's fabulous Trunks Shawl in Wool and Silk from the Fall Winter 2011 mens collection. It may be a season past, but the archive inspired design makes this a timeless piece thru and thru. Trunk motifs from LV's archives combined with tartan pattern in classic colours of black or brown assures its versatility and longevity. Although the wool scarf is made to shield you from winter chills, I feel the mid weight material makes this a handy scarf suited for freezing air-con environments anywhere in Singapore! The 70% silk and 30% wool ensures you will not overheat:-) Measures 140cm x 140cm which is exceptionally generous in sizing too! (It drapes so handsomely especially with those frayed edges)

Surprisingly, the pricing difference between US and SG prices are not drastic. USD795 or SGD995 respectively sees only minimal difference. So no need to wait till another US or Europe trip before you stock up on these. I know I am tempted:-p

My Shopping Conquests #129

Below: The brand to watch out for SS2012... Carven SS2012 Menswear exudes boyish charms and refreshes with new proportions:-)

Below: Those colourful leather pocket protectors is a key accent to create those boyish schoolboy looks... I had to had one:-)

Back To School With Carven Spring Summer 2012 Mens

Perhaps it's age catching up or the eternal pursuit of all things youthful and beautiful... Carven's SS2012 menswear have resonated with many new male fans, me included, with their debut menswear.

Guillaume Henry has done a nostalgic take on his version of the Carven man, something that is both charming and fresh, yet playful with a french attitude. These are clothes what your brother will wear or perhaps you would too if you have not 'outgrown' them physically. Cropped proportions, preppy blazers and slightly flared shorts in vibrant hues all make up the boyish appeal. One of the key accents in many looks were this very special leather pocket protectors that appeared on pockets of shirts and blazers, something little boys wear to shield their clothes from pen stains. But done in Carven's way, it creates a sartorial flair by way of colour and interesting styling... I love it!

Below: The pocket protectors comes in many colours and are featured prominently in Carven's SS2012 lookbook...

Hence, I got mine today in a nice tan brown at Club 21 Mens, Four Seasons Hotel today. It was the only piece brought in... but you can order them at www.ssense.com or www.farfetch.com if keen.

Can't wait to put this on and get regressed to adolescence.

My Shoe Collection #56

Below: Return of the track shoes... New Balance style...
Below: I got my pair today... a hybrid sports and trekking style with metal eyelet shoe lace loops and chunky boot soles... Love hybrid styles. Wear them with chinos or cargo trousers or suits!

Below: Guys are wearing New Balance shoes all over...

New Balance Shoes Are In!

One of the most surprising trends that surfaced during the mens Pitti Immagine Uomo FW2011 in Florence was the return of track shoes as daily shoes. New Balance seems to be the favoured brand all the fashionable boys turned to... all thanks to their classic retro designs given a new update. Wear them with chinos, cargo trousers and suit it up:-) Sports inspired styles meet boardroom. A surprising mix of preppy sporty cool. I love the look! Tommy Ton is sported adopting this trend too, so why not you?:-)

That's how I ended up with my very own pair of New Balance today. Mine's all black with stunning red laces...hybrid with trekking and sportive details. Love the metal eyelets for the laces and the rugged boot soles. How cool! Kinda reminds me of DSquared2 without the price tag. Retails for only SGD129.

There are other designs such as the bright green version with trekking laces (brass ends on the laces is a brilliant detail) with chunky soles (SGD199). Love it.

Get your pair soon! Visit the New Balance store (Singapore, Orchard Road) at Scape if you are keen.

The Material Boy #530

Below: The boys get it too! YSL has released a mens version of the very appealing Chyc Cabas...
YSL Mens Chyc Cabas

We have all witness the beauty of YSL's Chyc Cabas on women... and got all jealous about the ladies getting all the good bags. The sizing for the womens Chyc Cabas is simply too dainty for any well build guy. Fret not now boys, YSL seems to have heard the mens' pleas and they actually came up with a guy friendly size for this ultra CHYC bag:-)

Measuring 12.5" x 18.5" x 8.5" (H31cm x W46.8cm x D21.5cm), the mens YSL Chyc Cabas retains the shape and details with signature Y panelling and buckle of the women's version, but in men-friendly size that will make any guy be a worthy 'style' match for the ladies.

Available in sexy black textured leather (US$2150) or nubuck suede (US$2250)... YSL Chyc Cabas is another bag on my shopping radar!

Below: This is one of my favourite looks! Love the burnt orange and grass green colour combination...
Clément Chabernaud In Zara Spring Summer 2012 - April Mens Lookbook

Clément Chabernaud is the face of Zara SS2012 Mens Lookbook for April. Dashing in Balmain and many other luxury brands' advertising campaign, Clément makes Zara look equally appealing!

I love the new SS2012 collection for Zara. The cuts are definitely much slimmer which is great news for slim folks like me. But the highly wearable styles is on trend and yet practical for the season. Coloured chinos are all the rage, as does driving shoes, tasseled loafers, nautical inspirations and flamboyant prints, Zara has it all for you to create the perfect summer wardrobe, at a fraction of your budget:-)

Below: Printed trousers and shirts... perfect for this flamboyant SS2012 menswear season...

I am definitely shopping Zara this weekend. Going to try on that grass green 'cargo' style slim leg trousers (SGD129). The colour work so well with the burnt orange blazer. Of course, Clément sold the look 100% for me!

My Shopping Conquest #128

Below: Finally Miansai bracelets are now available in Singapore! I am the romance of the sea and this Miansai Utility Rope Anchor bracelet gives me a sense of sea faring adventures:-) Great for stacking with other bracelets too:-) Found this at Maison Ikkoku in Singapore, an eclectic Japanese inspired store/cafe/bar in Kandahar street around Arab street area...
Below: Mr Porter stocks these bracelets (from £50) too... I had wanted one ever since I first spotted them at Mr Porter's site...

Spotted In Singapore: Miansai's Utility Rope Anchor Bracelet

Yesterday, me and a few friends (including Bagaholicboy) decided to give glitzy Orchard Road a breather and explore a new enclave of shopping destination in Singapore. Thanks to Alvin's suggestion that we head down to the eclectic district of Haji Lane to check out all the interesting small shops by creative local entrepreneurs... from boutiques, cafes, bars and some quirky retail hideouts.

One of the shops we must visit is Maison Ikkoku... a Japanese inspired Menswear store cum cafe and bar. This is one of the most refreshing experiences to be had in terms of local shopping. I love the rustic, loft like decor of the entire place, using utilitarian furnishings such as copper pipes as lights, hooks as hangers and cast iron rods as shelfing. Amazing!

But the best part of the exploration is that I found one of my most coveted accessories here... Miansai bracelets was love at first sight when I first spotted them at Mr Porter. Now Singapore stocks these and it's a must-have at pricings from SGD98 (silver hardware) to SGD 137 (gold hardware)! Adjustable to fit any wrists, you can be sure to find one to your liking. The colourful utility rope and metal anchor/hook hardware adds a nautical feel and injects sailing chic any day. From yellow to green to blue.... I had a hard time deciding.. but I finally settle for the grey and blue version which is most versatile to match anything.

Below: Stacking the bracelet with my Hermès Kelly Double Tour... they are a match made in heaven:-)
Pop by the store soon! You will not regret. Maison Ikkoku stocks Pierre Hardy, Orlebar Brown, Lad Musician, Yuketen shoes and many cult Japanese brands.

Below: Check out Maison Ikkoku... my new favourite store in Singapore!
If you are based out of Singapore, take comfort that Mr Porter stocks these in many colours too!

Check out the blue, green and even leather versions here. (Prices from an affordable £50.)

My Bag Collection #67

Below: Another Céline addition to my bag family...

Céline Bi-Cabas In Black Lambskin And Houndstooth Wool Tweed

Céline Cabas mania has strike again... although it was months ago since I acquired this new addition to my Céline cabas collection. This 4th cabas to my cabas family is still ranking top on my beloved list of bags in my 'bag harem':-)

I have always loved the simplicity of the cabas design. Especially the bi-material ones... different mix of textures and materials creates the most interesting appeal. And this new one (from FW2011 collection) features a champagne tone houndstooth wool tweed fabric which gives the bag a preppy attitude well suited for the modern dandy. Wear the bag with suits, smart shoes and add some sartorial flair any day. I love the champagne tone as well, subdued and yet not boring while matches almost any spectrum of your wardrobe colours.
