My Shoe Collection #20
Bottega Veneta Lizard Skin Sandals
I immediately love this pair of Bottega Veneta lizard skin sandals the moment it got featured as a must-buy from a menswear buyer in www.men.style.com. I had already own the crocodile version and thought this lizard version was even better looking. The same design principles have been applied for this lizard variant, crafted with real lizard skin and imprinting a lizard illustration on the soles.
I got this pair of sandals just before Chinese New Year a few years back(2006). Got it exchange once as I bought size 40 which was too small. Despite the inconvenience, I am always pleased about this purchase. Have admired it for many months, yet still have not gotten to wearing it. One thing is for sure, this pair of sandals feels way much more comfortable with softer leather as compared to the dreadful and painful crocodile version.
BTW, this design is no longer available. And prices have increased for sandals in this range.
Retail price: Approx. SGD $640. Where to buy: Bottega Veneta Boutique at Takashimaya

Nice sandals. Very exotic look. However, a little exorbitant I feel for a pair of flip flops. ;-)
I didn't mind spending on the intreciato sneakers though cause it's one of a kind.
But this is lizard skin...hahaha...exotics?
Yeah, it's still overpriced. But I guess we all buy into the design. That sneakers is very nice, have seen it at the bottega shop in paragon. Pricey too!
did you wear your prada open toe yesterday?:-)
Ha Ha nope. Didn't have the heart to break in that pair. Further more I was going shoe shopping so decided to wear slippers for convenience. ;-)
Hey you have so many pairs of unworn shoes? Why aren't you wearing them? I know it can pinch especially if it's a very coveted pair. But 2 years (this lizard pair). Doesn't it seem a little too long?? ha ha The longest I have taken to break in to a pair of new shoes is my Dolce and Gabbana lace-ups from their Hand Finished series. Aww...so exquisite. But still i broke into them. IT's the first pair of shoes that came in a croc printed shoe-box and with a free silver shoe-horn. Yum...
I have too many pairs of shoes and I can't seem to finish breaking all of them:-(...this should be a good sign for me to stop buying shoes...
And furthurmore, when a shoe is worn, I feel that ii is kinda not clean to store them away again in their boxes...hahaha. that's just me.
But I enjoy buying shoes.
Same here, I know what you mean. Once it's worn, it is off to the shoe case. But you can still retain that brand new feeling by investing in some good wooden (preferably cedar) shoe trees. I have one for each pair of dress shoes. They absorb mositure from the leather and keeps it smelling fresh and clean. This is quintessential in shoe-care "methodology". Epecially so if you have sweaty feet. ;-)
hahaha..I keep my shoes with the paper stuffing! hahaha...too costly to use cedar wood shoe trees!:-)
wow...you are a such a shoe savvy person...know how to maintain the shoes.
haha lets just say I am looking to wear these shoes for a long time. ha ha. Anyway shoe-trees are reusable so tat's ok. But yea, they can be pretty expensive. A cedar wood one will cost about 70 dollars a pop. Gosh i spend on accessories for my accessories. haha makes sense?
shouldn't keep shoes in boxes, display them gloriously in a shoe rack for all to see! when my friends come round to mine, the first thing they say when they enter is "wah is this a shoe shop?!"
having own more than 15 pairs of shoes, and bought 3 pairs in the past 2 weeks. i can join your club now.
handly tip: no need expensive cedar shoe tree nor tissue stuffing. i keep all shoes displayed with ikea shoe tree! keeps shoes in shape and cheap and cheerful!

damn. so cheap in singapore. they're selling it at GBP2 each here! i see an arbitrage opportunity here...
thanks for the tip Joseph and Jay!
hehe. I am just too lazy to go buy so many shoe trees.my paper stuffing is doing a decent job now. I am cheap skate in this aspect.
I wish I had so much space to display the shoes. My dream was to have a room size walk in closet. hahaha
