The Material Boy #235

Mulberry Eliot Tote In Grained Leather

Mulberry bags are getting more and more savvy and I am getting more and more intrigued by them these recent months. I used to dislike their 'conservative' styles and I tend to find more 'mature looking' designs for their bag range, despite some lovely classics. However a breath of fresh air has now surround the brand. With the recent change of creative director, Emma Hill who has a background with Marc By Marc Jacobs, she is already injecting some fun into the bags we see on offer this spring summer 2009 season. Perhaps her Marc By Marc Jacobs stint help play a part to create designs that look more modern and youthful. I am confident the bags from Mulberry will now look even better while still being sophisticated and timeless:-P

One of the new offerings I am currently drooling is this timeless Mulberry Eliot Tote in Grained Leather. Crafted with soft grained leather, and comes in 3 beautiful colours of white, navy and deep red. I adore the white one most with its soft grey canvas handles and interior suede surface. It simply look elegant and nonchalant. An internal zipped pocket allows for storage of important items like your wallets and keys.

The shape of this tote is also what made me love the bag design. Unlike most totes which usually have a large base, this Eliot tote is slender and more streamlined making it a very handy bag to use everyday. The classic design takes you from day to night, casual to formal. Very versatile indeed. Embellished it with some bag charms and this bag will attain more character and become more fabulous. One small drawback for the bag is that it being made from grained leather do weigh a bit more...but not overwhelmingly that it will be like a workout each time you carry the bag. So it is a very small problem in exchange for sumptuous leather. The white Eliot tote is the rarest in Singapore. Only 2 pieces came to our sunny island. One for the Hilton store and the other for the boutique in Terminal 3. Very slim chance of someone toting the same bag as you in white. Dun we all like exclusivity?:-P (Alternatively, you can buy it online at www.mulberry.com as well but it may costs more due to shipping.)

(After seeing this Eliot tote in the arms of the cute model dressed in pink polo and bright yellow cardigan, under a grey leather jacket and paired with white skinny jeans, I want this bag even more!)

The Eliot white tote can be ordered online and, even with the modest delivery charge, can be delivered to Singapore for around $100 less than it is selling for at the Mulberry store.

And last time I checked, Mulberry store at the Hilton only has one piece left, the Eliot tote in blue...

dilemma 1: holdall or tote?

dilemma 2: white or blue? I'm afraid white might not b easy to take care, what do you think? But i LOVE the white

Well, go with your heart! If you like white, then you will make an effort to keep it clean, no matter what happens:-)

Dun buy the bag becos of you being afraid of it getting dirty and you did a compromise. In the end, you may find yourself not liking the bag as much:-P
