The Runway Sniper #25

Below: Kenzo Spring Summer 2009 Ad Campaign...with a whimsical fantasy feel...

Kenzo Menswear Spring Summer 2009

Travel has always been a consistent theme in Kenzo's brand DNA. Season after season, we are taken around the world with inspirations from the far east to the high seas of the carribeans or even the mountains of Central Asia. This season, the source for inspiration for the menswear lineup is 'One Thousand And One Nights'. As the name suggests, we see handsome 'princes of arabia' sent down the runway wearing turbans, gladiator style sandals paired with long caftan style shirts/jackets, silk and linen shorts. All proudly flaunting a dazzling array of bright jewelled tone colours!

I love the smart styling for the looks, mixing ethnic looks with modern, wearable pieces. The sequined tote was featured in the fashion supplement of Another Man magazine. Definitely unique for the guy who can work the bag. The ankle height gladiator style sandals in multitude of colours also get my vote! Sometimes I see Kenzo as a 'poorer distant cousin' to Hermes, who uses travelling as inspirations as well. But next season onwards, creative director Antonio Marras will take full control of the Kenzo brand. The Fall Winter 2009/2010 menswear by Marras is looking very promising already, I am going to pay close attention to the brand from now on.:-P

Lots of nice things in this collection, especially the caftan shirts and their take on the madras check is pretty bold.

Love the styling of this show too for the models and the staging. The rug on the runway is gorgeous.

I love the music and the "art deco" vest. The sandals look pretty much like your Prada so you don't need them
