Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2010 Menswear
Yes, boys...even before Fall Winter 2009 collections hit the stores, designers are already showing their proposals for Spring Summer 2010. Fashion is forward. It is always ahead, and that is what makes the industry so dynamic and exciting.
And to kick start Milan fashion week on Saturday, Dolce & Gabbana who are always the first to show their designs did not disappoint:-P
From what I can gather after watching the whole runway presentation online, these are the key words I have gathered:
Blazers, Craftsmanship, Glitterati, Man Clutches and the best of all, Distressed, Distressed, Distressed!
Yes, Dolce & Gabbana is back! My love of the brand is rekindled. Ever since their design direction took a turn for the more sartorially elegant, I seem to have wane in my interest for the brand. The past few seasons were too suited up and high brow for my style. Although the suiting were impeccable in many ways, they were meant for men who dress for the boardroom and red carpet. Translating Dolce & Gabbana into daily wear becomes a challenge. It was not the glamourous sexy styles it used to be.
But with this new collection, I am pleased to see they brought back some of that old Dolce & Gabbana sex appeal and yet demonstrating their undying pursuit of sartorial perfection. Fabulous ode to the sartorial suit as they pushed the boundaries of the jacket with intricate embroidery which is the ultimate of masculine glamour. The 'glitterati' bling is even applied on fabulous scarves (which I am definitely lusting!) and detailing on trousers. You cannot help but be mesmerised and impressed.
The fun part starts when the first model walks in with this 'jaw-dropping' pair of distress white jeans, with an underlying pinstripe fabric. I want those jeans! It's a ingenious demonstration of balance in grunge and sophistication. What follows gets even better when the duo unveiled more of what Dolce & Gabbana is acclaimed for... distressed denim that they do so well, in many interesting washes, rips and colours. There is one look which pairs a meticulously embroided blazer with a pair of black ripped jeans that revisits the old Dolce & Gabbana style of extravagance and decadance. Dejavu my Dolce & Gabbana fanatic days...I am a fan again!
On the accessories front...quintessential throughout the runway, are my recent obsession, the man clutch! They are back with a vengeance and those models sure look astounding flaunting them. So start dusting off those clutches and get ready to brandish them in months to come.
Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2010 Menswear brought a balance of ultra luxury and casual glamour. The collection comprises of very wearable pieces that will wowed back the old Dolce & Gabbana fanboys. I know I have been 'smitten':-) Bravo! All this just in time for Dolce & Gabbana's duplex flagship store in Ion Orchard:-)
