My MANy Bags Trendspotting #52

Below: Ribbon ties...will it be the next neckwear trend?

Below: D&G Fall WInter 2009 Men's Collection has a few ribbon tie looks.
Even Zara has a version...

Below: Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2009 Mens Collection also see some similar ribbon style neck embellishment...but these are somewhat part of the shirt

Ribbon Ties

Bowties are all the rage since a few seasons back. This dandy-ish neckwear for men has been given a new lease of life with different interpretations from different designers. Lanvin being the foremost perpetuator of such classic elegance but always with a contemporary uptake. Their raw edging and used treatment lends a modern twist to this age old men's accessory.

But how long will the bowtie 'trend' last? As fickle as fashion is...one day you are in, the next day you are out:-) So what will follow next?

Can it be ribbon ties? I do like this charming alternative to men's neckwear. Kinda cute and sweet in a way. Very 'gentle-manly'...literally!

Hm, I think the Prorsum version is okay. As usual Chris Bailey did a marvelous job integrating something different into the collection without it being overbearing like those D&G ones. What I like about the Prorsum version is A) it matches the color of the shirt, so it doesn´t stand out so much and B) it´s slim. Don´t we all love slim?

i have got the prorsum shirt with the ribbon tie. I have yet to wear it though. so far its too dressy for me to wear it to work.
