My MANy Bags News #140

Ladies...Your 'Tom Ford' Deprived Days Will Soon Be Over...

If any ladies out there is still missing Tom Ford's designs in their staple wardrobe options since his departure from Gucci...good news is here. Tom Ford has disclosed his plans for a women's collection in the very near future. In Tokyo to promote his new film, 'A Single Man', Tom Ford said he plans to launch the Tom Ford brand’s first women’s collection “very soon,” although he declined to specify a date. Right now, he most arduous task is to seek financial backing, which if achieved sooner, will see his new women's collection launched as early as Fall 2010.

“Financing is extremely expensive right now, so if we find financing in the right situation we’ll be able to start (a women’s collection) soon. If we don’t, we may have to wait a while,” Gucci’s former creative director told WWD in an interview from a 50th floor suite of the Park Hyatt Hotel with an expansive view of the city skyline.

An estimate of $50 million or more is targetted for funding the new women's collection and Credit Suisse is leading the process. When did banks take an interest in fashion? I guess anything money making is of interest to anyone:-)

So ladies, cross your fingers and wish Tom luck. You may soon be strutting down your city clad in Tom Ford once again.

1st comment here but I've got to say, I really like your blog!

Oh, and this is totally useless, but I've never seen this picture before. Funny thing is, the Grey Vetiver cap is kind of looking like a hat on Tom's head. Just saying...
