Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #151

Valentino Fall Winter 2010 Menswear

Has everyone gone grunge and tough this Fall Winter 2010 season? Even the once elegant and suave Valentino man has given in to his inner rebel streak and started to wear studded biker jackets, tees and boots. To be honest, although the collection (Sartorial gone rogue?) bears little influence from the old Valentino, I do enjoy the fresh take of the design direction. More modern, more young, more the moment. Perhaps Mr Valentino will be fuming mad that his brand has lost his essence yet again (as he has always been with his successors), but I guess to move on, sometimes you need to evolve and tread new grounds.

Is this for the better or worse, only time will tell. Just as Kris Van Assche took a few seasons to get everyone agreeing to his 'anti-slimane' Dior Homme, who knows... maybe this new Valentino man may just be the future for the brand.

Sartorial gone rogue... that's a good one. Love the leather jacket.

it's not that "rogue." i think it's time for designers to step off the "polished" pedestal. not completely, but just so to not alienate consumers who dont don a suit and tie every day. i actually like this new direction. ;)
