Dior Homme Fall Winter 2014 'Strap' Bags

Dior Homme will be launching a new series of bags for Fall Winter 2014. Named the Strap as characterised by elegant simplicity of the band of strap detail adorning the front... this new series also features contrasting materials of supersoft calfskin with cotton nylon closures and shoulder straps. Essentials like messenger bags and weekend duffle bags come in beige and navy, or black and navy for a hybrid look both urban and sporty, combining luxury and modernity.

Being the hero bag for the upcoming season, the new Strap bags are even featured in the new Fall Winter 2014 ad campaign as shot by talented photographer Karim Sadli. Definitely a thumbs up for fans of minimalist and modern aesthetics. Love the handsome colours... these bags whisper luxury for discerning.

Clément Chabernaud For Balmain Homme Fall Winter 2011 Lookbook

Criticism may be rampant over Christophe Decarnin's repetitive work for Balmain. But one thing that always garner praise has to be the beautiful serene photographic images from their mens lookbooks. Clever casting of french model Clément Chabernaud and tapping the keen photographic eyes of Karim Sadli never fail to ignite an uncontrollable yearning for Balmain Homme's pieces.

For Fall Winter 2011 (despite Christophe Decarnin's departure from Balmain and Olivier Rousteing taking over), Clément Chabernaud and Karim Sadli continue to charm fans with yet another captivating lookbook. The styling, the grooming, the mood of photography simply exudes magic... beautifully capturing the essence of Balmain Homme's Fall Winter 2011 collection based on winter mountains and military inspirations... To such extent, I am willing to forget the repetition of themes and styles in the collection. As Christophe Decarnin likes to say Balmain Homme isn't a collection; it's a wardrobe. That perhaps gives a more accurate insight on the aesthetics of the more restrained mens collection as compared to his brash womenswear.

However, not everyone will be taken in by this rationalisation. Karl Largerfeld for one, do not seem to think too highly of Christophe Decarnin.

Karl Largerfeld may diss Christophe's position at Balmain as a fashion editor job... at least the styling part of the 'job' has been executed with flying colours:-P

Below: This jacket is also my favourite but it reminds me of Balenciaga's Spring Summer 2008 collection. But I like the design on the back shoulder. An open flap which is kinda interesting.

Balmain Homme Spring Summer 2010...More Pics...

Further to my previous post about Balmain's new Spring Summer 2010 Menswear Lookbook, here more from the series featuring Clément Chabernaud and shot by Karim Sadli.

I would say not all the pieces are worthy of paying such a premium for. Most are so distressed and 'normal' that you can probably save a tonne of money by having some creative D.I.Y at home.

But the inspiration from the lookbook is priceless. Achievable style that lends a sense of individuality and easy carefree spirit. A 'devil may care' sensibility. I think I love the concept of sweat pants with a blazer and boots. Somehow Karim Sadli captures that mood and induces that yearning to replicate the look that Clément is wearing. Power of persuasion from good photography and beautiful model:-P

Balmain Homme Spring Summer 2011 Lookbook
(Starring Clément Chabernaud and shot by Karim Sadli)

This is one of my most anticipated lookbooks from any fashion brands. Balmain's lookbook has always been a pleasure for the eyes, with Karim Sadli's captivating photography and Clément Chabernaud's timeless charm.

For Spring Summer 2011, the lookbook shots seem to carry a 'yellow out', vintage treatment that reflects a certain midwest American mood. The shots are done to resemble a photo essay rather than your typical high gloss advertising shots. I am so loving the styling... nothing seemed put together in a contrived way but it showcases alluringly the key pieces of the collection. Well done, Balmain!

I am also excited to see the jeans being given a tighter fit, to the extent of mimicking the cuts of the women's version. Love it, can't wait to buy those jeans now!
