Mulberry Large Meygan Bag (SOLD)

One bright and sunny Saturday (2 weeks ago) after buying my new D&G Nautical Crest Emblem Contrast White Shirt and also collecting my other new shirt from alteration, I walked past Mulberry Boutique at Hilton Hotel and something caught my eye which stopped me in my tracks. Inside the huge display window were a set of smart summery stripe bags that I was made to drool all over. Although they were not exactly the men's Taylor range I had blog about, these were much more interesting to me because of the shape and design. I took a quick snapshot of the largest bag and kept it with me so I can have a reference to do research online when I get home. I did not enquire with the store right away as I was in a hurry. But one thing is for sure, the bag left a deep impression and it kept lingering on my mind. I cannot seem to forget about it.

Upon returning home, I immediately logged on to Mulberry's website in hopes of finding out more information about this lovely bag I saw earlier. With much luck and some browsing, I found what I need. Finally I know what this stripey bag is named...it's none other than the new Mulberry Large Meygan Bag from the new Spring Summer range! The more i see the pictures, the more I am attracted to the bag.

Why am I so impressed with this bag?

Firstly, the round shape is a huge draw for me. I have not owned any bags in this shape so this is definitely fresh for my 'bag harem' (as my friend Mervyn puts it:-p). My other bags would be most happy to welcome a fresh and well designed new member any day! Second reason was the stripey and preppy Denim Ticking fabric. The blue and white combination was exactly on cue for a beach side summer look, not to mention also alluding an English charm and allure for the bag. Third was the simple elegant design with just the right amount of hardware. There are 2 well placed brass buckles on the sides which adds interest. And to make the bag unmistakably Mulberry, a lovely brass oval 'Mulberry tree' engraved plaque adorns the front of the bag. Lastly, the bag's user-friendly functionality also adds to my fondness of the bag. The zip opening runs almost the full length on the top of the bag allowing a wide opening to easily retrieve any bag contents. Internal zip pockets is also very useful to keep organised. Perfect bag for city or beach!

Despite being a women's bag, the large size and non-frivolous design makes it suitable for a guy as well. Seriously, I highly doubt a lot of women will want to carry this as it may overwhelm them with its huge size. Men can carry this off with more ease.

Since I know I am completely sold for the bag, there is nothing else I am left to do...except of course to hit the store the next day and purchase it. I was even more in love when I tried the bag on at the Mulberry store and found out the bag was virtually weightless. The incredibly affordable price tag makes this a definite must-have. With a 15% Club 21 classic card discount, I this piece of bag candy was picked up at an even better deal.

Welcome my new 'gal', Mulberry Large Meygan to Kevin's Bag Harem. Feel at home here in happy Kevin's bag land!:-P

Retail price: SGD $999. Where to buy: Mulberry Boutique at Hilton Hotel

Congrats on your latest acquisition! I absolutely love the simplicity of the bag. ;) Hehe. Just wondering though, what does the bag look like when U unbuckle the sides? Or U can't...? Hmmm...

Thanks Mervyn and Niz!
:-)

And Niz, I dun think you can unbuckle to sides as that will make the bag lose it's shape. and the leather flap will be odd. But you can definitely unbuckle if you want to:-)

Thanks agrasshopper...I think we have similar tastes in shopping. Perhaps next time you are in SG, we can arrange one. Hahahah.

The bag is very nice and light as a throw around bag. Not too expensive and very good for summer weather.

Mulberry is really getting better. Quality is also not too bad.

Have a happy weekend!

I dont know, Im not totally taken with this one. I think my preference is for all-leather bags, this somehow feels a bit like a beach bag. Obviously, its all preference and its always nice to see the excitement that a new bag, whether it is one's taste or not, gives someone! Hope you enjoy it, see you out and about on Orchard!

Hi UKbagboy..are you from Singapore or UK?

Yes, I agree...it's all a matter of preference. This is definitely for casual weekends and the beach. The stripey and light weight style shouts brighton and martha stewart chic.:-P

hehe.

Yes, if you are in Singapore...then probably there is a chance of you seeing me toting this bag.

Cheerios! happy weekends!

Kevin
