Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #53

Below: Gucci's Cruise 2010 Ad Campaign...resort vibes and pool lounging styles:-)

Below: The braided handle tote looks promising...

Below: As does the snake skin version...

Below: However, the men's cruise 2010 collection looks bland and too basic. Probably you find lots of the pieces already in your wardrobe. But these are the better ones I would picked.

Below: Scarves add to the look, otherwise it is just another plain style, no surprises or interest:-)

Below: A reasonably 'easy on the eye' and handy tote bag without the GG monogram (which is a relief. These days the GG monogram is becoming so tacky (with so many odd colour ways and treatment) on all the 'cheap and ugly' canvas bags and everyone seem to have it!) ...

Gucci Cruise Collection 2010

Gucci
is fast! Way before other brands launch their cruise season advertising, Gucci has already put up their latest Cruise 2010 collection online at their website.

Seems like a Miami Vice vibe. Turquoise green swimming pool as a backdrop and lots of sexy pool lounging styles for the rich and famous. Playboy and playgirls? Paris Hilton anyone?

The women's braided handle tote looks promising.

However, the men's cruise collection feels lacking. Very basic pieces that we have already seen aplenty anywhere. Polo tees, windbreakers, bomber jackets, pants...nothing too outstanding. But I picked a few looks that to me, were the better ones among the snooze inducing collection. Frida did a great job for the women's Spring Summer 2010 collection, hope she can translate that sexy sophistication to future men's collection instead of playing it too safe for her menswear.

plain and basic can be good since they have wardrobe longevity. but then plain doesn't really motivate us to buy them asap. i also feel unmoved with this year's Gucci Cruise collection.

It's true. There should be a balance of 'freshness' and playing safe even for cruise collections. I think Frida is restraining too much on this one. It's too basic.

It's like how I walked into Gucci Paragon on Saturday and felt nothing... zilch.

It's true. There is no sense of excitement in the pieces offered. Even in London boutiques, I cannot find anything that I really like.

I love the ad campaign! And those totes!! Argh... Gorgeous, but a little bit too huge for every day, no?
