Jil Sander Spring Summer 2010 Womens And Mens Accessories
Here's more pics from Jil Sander's Spring Summer 2010 accessories collection for both men and women. Some of these impressive pieces are looking very promising, bordering on being works of art (with a sculptural quality) and fashion to be worn. Raf Simons have always infused artistic inspirations to his creations to which the result of his ready to wear feels like wearable art rather than just mere fashion. This season, the effect is even more prominent.
Lightness is the driving force to define this season’s masculine wardrobe. With pure lines, subdued colours, and paintings of Japanese artist Foujita to inject a sense of peotic, harmonised expression, Jil Sander’s collection stands out from its more embellisehed peers. This sense of design translate to the accessories as well. The shoes are a standout, with clean designs that accentuate the zen-like concept. The ‘pebbled’ car shoe soles blends traditional lace-ups and sandals in black or white, and are my favourites from the range while eyewear with lenses suspended on super-light metallic constructed frame appear modern.
Nature was part of the inspirations behind Jil Sander's Spring Summer 2010 womenwear collection. I am pleasantly surprised at how these accessories have taken on new shapes you rarely associated with the brand. Kiss lock designs, frame bags are welcome additions to the collection. Laser cut patterns derivative of the earthen crust gives interesting textural designs on bags and even shoes. The range looked beyond fashion pieces and more like contemporary artwork. This is especially true for the heels with the sculptural wooden heel. In a way, the collection gives me an impression of a more grown-up and refined Marni, or a more feminine Jil Sander women who usually takes on a more androgynous persona.
Both mens and womens collections are now available at Club 21 mens and Jil Sander Hilton Hotel respectively.
