Saint James For Coach Spring Summer 2013 Collection
Summertime brings about great joy for sun worshippers. The high seas and beaches await all. For Spring Summer 2013, Coach wants to ensure your sea faring adventures are never lacking great style.
Introducing their upcoming Saint James for Coach collection launching in May 2013. It’s nautical meets New York. Coach and Saint James have combined their expertise to create a collection of key pieces destined to become classics of their own this summer. This limited-edition series features the best of both brands, Saint James signature nautical stripe pattern and Coach’s leather craft expertise.
The story of Saint James starts at the end of the 19th century, when the Legallais family established a wool yarn manufacturing business named after the Norman town where it still stands today. Alongside skeins of Saint James virgin wool yarn, the company produced undershirts and sweaters for deep-sea fishermen. Tightly knit, with a secret stitch to retain heat, the sweaters, with their long, slim cut, were soon called “a sailor’s second skin.” Their durability and practicality made them a hit with merchant marines and the French Navy working in the choppy waters of Brittany and the English Channel. Soon their appeal spread to yachtsmen, vacationers and anyone else who wanted a piece of that comfort, warmth and style. Whether with stripes or in solids, the Saint James Navy sweater, essentially unchanged, is still a cornerstone of the company today. Saint James’s second iconic product, their cotton Marinière t-shirt, also called a Breton stripe, was originally made for the French Navy, but its comfort and classic boatneck cut turned it into a staple of French leisurewear. Today, it’s hard to find a stylish person without a piece of Saint James in his or her closet. Current fans spotted wearing Saint James include Alexa Chung, Karl Lagerfeld, Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow. All the more reasons you should fall in love with these stripes come Summer 2013.
I adore the mens Saint James Tote (SGD1045) featuring horizontal white stripes against a tough navy canvas body finished with tan leather handles, base and trimmings. There is even a cute anchor charm hanging from the dog tags that gives the tote bag plenty of character. Such a cool bag to be spotted while you strut down the marinas and beaches where your private yacht awaits.
The womens range spots a white canvas body accent with very french colours of navy and red. The drawstring tote (SGD875) is on my wishlist already!
