Below: Have a 'flirt' with colours when you put on these playful Christian Louboutin 'Colourblock' Bruno Orlato Mens Flats:-)

Jazz Up Your Feet With These Colourful Christian Louboutin Bruno Orlato Mens Flat

Tap your feet, play some Cuban jazz and put on your Christian Louboutin ‘Colourblock’ Bruno Orlato Mens Flats (USD995)!

Yes, these happy shoes are definitely ready to jazz up your summer style. The stunning colours trimmed with the brightest pink or orange leather enhances the colourblock effect and creates a fun graphic appeal for these dapper footwear. Who needs studs when you have all the fun with colours?

I love the contrasting white soles with leather and suede combination. There’s texture and colours all combined into one. Wear with your upbeat summer pieces, (as demonstrated in the pic featured above) and you are all set to paint the town red or any colour you desire! I am a fan of the pink trim and blue version.

Gucci Large Flora Infinity Canvas Tote

Below: Floral prints worked for guys as well...especially something as tasteful and non feminine as Gucci's Infinity Flora print. Now I want the large canvas tote bag which is going to be a useful and gorgeous holiday companion on any summer holidays:-)
Below: Beautiful and sophisticated colours with a retro chic illustrative style, this print works great on summer ready tote bags!

Flower Power For The Boys: Gucci Large Flora Infinity Canvas Tote

Fashion designs are on a row for 'flower power' this Spring Summer 2013 for the boys! Carven has amazing botanical prints for the chic 'geeks'. Balenciaga and Marc By Marc Jacobs offered ‘Hawaiian shirt’ inspired florals for the holiday obsessed boys. And the list goes on and on from high fashion labels to street brands like Zara. It's no denial, nature is an strong inspiration source for SS2013.

With so much floral prints to choose from, it's hard to decide a favourite. For me, my top pick for summer florals goes to Gucci’s updated Flora Infinity print. This pattern have been applied to both mens and womens range of shoes, bags and accessories, which evoked a retro chic sensibility, combined with summer fresh colours and tasteful illustration style. Eye catching but never brash,  millionaire playboys will adore the Gucci Flora Infinity print for this Spring Summer 2013 season. Think sea front villas in Miami, blue sunny skies over beaches and yachting holidays whenever you have this print on you.

Aside from the highly coveted Horsebit Loafers, I am also now obsessed with the Gucci Large Flora Infinity Canvas Tote (USD720) which feature the beautiful print in prominence and will worked perfectly for summer vacations. A good roomy size to hold all (measures W60cm x H38cm x D19cm), you have no problems packing in those swim gear, sun tan oils and matching beach towels. Or simply tote in on your arm while exploring the city next to your resort for all your souvenir shopping. This is the bag for guys who dare to embrace some flamboyance in their personal style.

Below: As a testament to my summer floral obsession, I got myself this Zara Abstract Floral Print t-shirt yesterday which I thought can go well with the Gucci Floral Infinity Canvas tote. A pair of blue shorts, sandals and cool sunglasses and I am vacation ready:-)

Suitsupply Camouflage Double Monkstrap

Below: Thanks to Filipo Cirulli from the Three F, I discovered and loved these Camouflage Double Monkstrap shoes from Dutch label, Suitsupply...
Suitsupply Camouflage Double Monkstrap

Are you still fending off the ‘invasion’ of camouflage pattern into your wardrobe this Spring Summer 2013? Well, if you have been a fan of Valentino’s Rockrunner Camouflage Sneakers, then you will find it equally hard to resist this cool pair of camo shoes I just discovered today. Thanks to Filipo Cirulli from the Three F, I am now smitten by this pair of Camouflage Double Monkstrap shoes from Dutch brand, Suitsupply. I hope you are too:-)

Inject a sense of modern cool by juxtapositioning extremes on a men’s classic piece works for me everytime. I love how the rugged camouflage print transformed the classic monkstraps into a design that cuts away the conservative and adds more edge. Now monkstraps can also appeal to young modern gentlemen from all over. Take for example, Filipo, who nailed his look with a denim shirt, slim dark jeans and khaki quilted jacket, balancing casual with smart. His camouflage monkstraps of course, is a star and the focal point of his outfit:-)

Sometimes, looking beyond the usual high fashion brands can uncover gems like these from lesser known names. At a great price of USD289, and with fewer chances fellow fashion ‘compatriots’ wearing the same design... this pair of Suitsupply Camouflage Monkstrap shoes is any dapper gentlemen’s 'formidable' style accessory.

(BTW, Suitsupply ships internationally (Singapore included) using UPS. Oh my... Tempting! Click here to check out the online store link.)

My MANy Bags News #384

Below: The fashion merry-go-round is working its magic yet again... Spring Summer 2007 sees Louis Vuitton's sending 'cheap chic' laundry bag checks to fashion stardom with their very unexpected handbag designs... now Phoebe Philo is doing the same with her Fall Winter 2013 Céline Cabas and Luggage Tote... Love or hate? I just want them!

Céline Fall Winter 2013 'Laundry Bag Checks' Cabas and Luggage Tote

The fashion merry-go-round is at it again... In Spring Summer 2007, Marc Jacobs sent down his Louis Vuitton runway some of the weirdest bags, shaped like those humble Asian laundry /luggage bags from yesteryear. Suddenly the mundane and cheap looked chic and the high fashion crowd went gaga over them. Fast forward 6 years later to Fall Winter 2013, those ‘laundry bag’ checks are making a comeback. Thanks to Phoebe Philo’s Céline Fall Winter 2013 collection. The recognisable red, blue and white checks are transformed into modern, coveted coats, skirts and of course our favourite Céline bags. I love the new Cabas and Luggage tote bearing this pattern. So ‘cheap chic’ fun!

What do you guys think? Love it or trash it?:-P

Below: It's Céline Fall Winter 2013 vs Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2007... 6 years later, will Phoebe Philo's version of these 'laundry bag checks' patterned designs be as coveted as Marc Jacobs'? What do you guys think?

Gender Bender #66

Below: Another bag made for women but looking even more chic for guys... Check out Saint Laurent's Classic Sac De Jour which I tried over the weekend and loved!

Below: A great bag for work and play: structured but considerably light for its full leather construction and very roomy and chic... Gold lock adds just the right tough of glamour:-)

Saint Laurent Classic Sac De Jour

The design of the Classic Saint Laurent Sac De Jour may remind you of another iconic bag whose prices are over the top and not accessible to many. It may also sound similar with another from a competitor brand... but I have to urge all bag fans not to dismiss this Saint Laurent offering just yet. Let all those ‘Birkin’ and ‘Fendi Du Jour’ ideas be expelled from your consciousness and let’s take in the beauty of this bag as it is.

Having tried the bag over the weekend, physically touching and modelling it... The Saint Laurent Sac De Jour has climb up my list of bags to own this SS2013 season. I especially recommend it for guys (See my modelling pic above). The convenient size (Measures: 15.5” x 12” x 8”, Drop 4.5”), structured construction with expandable side gusset by way of snap-on straps and sturdy rolled handles, are just some amazing details one would expect from a well designed arm candy. Lined in suede on the inside, with thoughtful compartmentalising via a central zip pocket, this is the bag to get organised for work or play. Best part of all, you do not have to wrestle with the weight associated with birkins, as the polished leather Classic Sac De Jour is surprisingly manageable despite the full leather construction. A touch of glamourous gold from the printed branding, zippers and brass lock make this Italian crafted beauty a bag of stealth luxury which needs no blatant introduction. The Saint Laurent Classic Sac De Jour is to be admired with quiet sophistication and hence why it is ideal for boys.

Coveting the bag now? The Saint Laurent Sac De Jour retails for SGD4330 in Singapore YSL stores or £1935 on Net-a-porter. (Click here to purchase on Net-a-porter's UK site).

Below: The red Saint Laurent Classic Sac De Jour is striking and matches my outfit that day:-) Beautiful arm colour for those who wants outstanding...

The Material Boy #592

Below: Spotted on the wrists of talented men the likes of Israel born film director, Ariel Vromen (directed and produced many projects for major production entities such as First Look Films, Screen Media Universal, Film Colony and Next Wave Films.) and Canadian actor, Alexander Ludwig (Hunger Games. Race to Witch Mountain), Montblanc’s Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC is next on my radar for my first luxury timepiece!
Below: Alexander Ludwig wearing the Montblanc Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC at Montblanc's Signature for Good event earlier this year...

Montblanc Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC

Spotted on the wrists of talented men the likes of Israel born film director, Ariel Vromen (directed and produced many projects for major production entities such as First Look Films, Screen Media Universal, Film Colony and Next Wave Films) and Canadian actor, Alexander Ludwig (Hunger Games. Race to Witch Mountain), Montblanc’s Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC is next on my radar for my first luxury timepiece.

Featuring a sporty and modern design, this is the watch for the discerning gentlemen with a worldly attitude and lifestyle.

As with the Timewalker series, Montblanc Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC gets its appeal as a companion on long-haul travels. First, there’s the rotating small seconds disc at 9 o’clock and date window at 4 o’clock. The UTC sub-dial allows the wearer to keep track of different timezones without re-adjusting the watch (thanks to the 24-hour hand) and a day/night display, and yet also features a chronograph timer. its a rare combination seen in Montblanc releases, especially among the price range of the Chronovoyager UTC.

Enough of the technical jargons which I am not exactly an expert. But one thing’s for sure, I can be assured this watch is going to look great on my wrist, high functionality aside. My pick from the series has to be the version with an anthracite sunburst polished dial and rose-gold toned hands which marries the best of both worlds (if you are torn like me between silver or gold accents). The large hour markers are highly legible and felt more instrumental than some of the more fashionable Timewalker dials. In other words, the watch adds an intellectual layer of appeal when you have it on your wrist. Young and modern, Montblanc Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC definitely get my top vote if you are shopping for a technically attractive and sophisticated timepiece!

Below: My pick has to the the anthracite colour dial with rose gold toned hands... the best of both worlds if you are indecisive over gold or silver accents:-) Very unique!

The Montblanc Timewalker ChronoVoyager UTC watch was first launched last year with the Grey face and a special edition of the Black face (as worn by Alexander Ludwig above). Watch out for the new classic crème face this September.  Prices start from approx. SGD7900.

The Material Boy #591

Below: Unisex and imbued with a rock chic modern sensibility, Saint Laurent's SS2013 Studded Bracelets are hot on my wishlist... such as this Classic Saint Laurent De Force Cuff in Black Leather and Silver toned Brass. I love the unique bi-cylindric studs!

Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2013 Mens Studded Bracelets

The androgyny of Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent collection has made the concept of men wearing jewellery perfectly acceptable. Conceived with a luxurious rock chic and modern sensibility, the bracelets and rings are neutral in design, definitely what a modern men need to spice up his wardrobe. I especially love the new Spring Summer 2013 range of unisex studded bracelets which came with interesting and unique bi-cylindric studs. Gold or silver tone brass, the metal hardware sits just right against the smooth calf leather cuffs, injecting a hint of rebel attitude for the wearer. My favourite has to be the Signature Saint Laurent Gourmette Trois Clous Cuff (USD395 or SGD430) where it features a single band of brass hardware with a flat pyramid stud inbetween 2 cylindric ones. I already foreseeing stacking that with other bracelets for a totally rocking look!

Below: The Signature Saint Laurent Gourmette Trois Clous Cuff is great for stacking with other bracelets...

Also noteworthy is the Classic Saint Laurent De Force Cuff in Black Leather and Silver toned Brass (broader leather band with dual row bi-cylindric studs) if making a statement is your fashion purpose. Love it! (Retails for USD725)

The Saint Laurent invasion has officially commence advancing into my wardrobe!

Gender Bender #65

Below: I am already a fan of 3.1 Phillip Lim's 31 Hour Bag... But this Spring Summer 2013 Cerulean Blue colour makes me want to add another to my bag collection. Such a cheerful colour for summer time and beyond:-)

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring Summer 2013 'Cerulean Blue' 31 Hour Bag

It may be time to add another 3.1 Phillip Lim ‘31 Hour’ Bag to my bag collection:-P  All thanks to the new Spring Summer 2013 Cerulean Blue that is updating the functional urban bag with new desirability. Who doesn’t like a spot of colour during Spring Summer time? I know I do:-)

And blue is the best colour for guys to ride the colour trend without appearing too feminine or flamboyant. The bright cerulean blue (made ‘famous’ by mention in the movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ by Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep) is just the right shade of blue to give cheer and fun to your summer style. Complimenting the minimal and modern design of the 31 Hour Bag seamlessly, the bright coloured bag now not only transcend daytime or night time but also summer season as well. The versatile hue is timeless and enduring, adding a pop of much welcome colour any time of the year.

The cerulean blue 3.1 Phillip Lim Bag retails for USD795 (bi-colour version) or USD750 for the single colour variant.

Below: 3.1 Phillip Lim's 31 Hour Bag may be positioned as a women's bag, but the generous size and minimalist modern design make it look just as good for men. I have a black version and can attest to it's appeal on guys:-) This Cerulean blue/Putty bi-colour version just reinforce the bag's desirability... (Pic below from Farfetch.com)

The Material Boy #590

Below: Loving Andrea Pompilio's Spring Summer 2013 mens shoes, the unexpected colours and interesting details make them a standout...
Below: I love the black and white pair with a contrast orange coloured welt as does the slip-on turquoise pair which is equally appealing. Now brogues can be an all-occassion shoe, casual or formal:-)
Andrea Pompilio Spring Summer 2013 Mens Shoes

Andrea Pompilio has been one of my favourite new labels to keep watch ever since Tim Blanks from Style.com gave his endorsement to this talented menswear designer. Testament to his rising popularity, his collections have now been steadily infiltrating some of the best fashion stores around the world, including our own Club 21b in Singapore.

Noted for his bold play of colours and prints with an expected mix of menswear concepts, Andrea Pompilio’s ready to wear collections have received positive reviews from fashion fans, season after season. However,  it is his footwear designs that gets me palpitating with excitement the most. There is something charming in the way he fuses classics with modern, using unexpected colours, unique details and mix of materials to make his shoes a standout.

For spring summer 2013, Andrea Pompilio has successfully updated 2 classic mens’ favourites, the tasselled loafers and brogues. By using a pastel palette in a burnished leather treatment, his take on these classic designs now come with a worn-in feel but refreshed with summer friendly sorbet tones perfect for any colour loving modern dandy. One of the brogues design have also been removed of the usual shoe laces, and made as slip-ons that transform the formal footwear to a shoe suited for even casual occassions. I love this interesting idea that give brogues a more wearable and youthful appeal. Noteworthy too, are the buckled versions which ride on the rising popularity of monkstraps, and crafted to be smart without being conservative. All of these heeled shoes feature a white contrast mid layer on the soles which I feel is another detail that sets Andrea’s design distinctive over other brands.

Which pair have caught your eye so far? For me, I am keenly attracted to the black and white patent leather pair with a bright contrast orange coloured welt. Street cool fused with classics... that is a must have! Bravo yet again for Andrea Pompilio. May his collections get better and bigger in the near future:-)

The Material Boy #589

Below: Balenciaga remains one of the classic designs that is still going strong after all these years... one of the new shapes that caught my eye is the Squash. Designed with a sportier silhouette and added with the functionality of a shoulder strap, this bag is both roomy and functional to use for gym, school, work or play.

Balenciaga Squash Leather Holdall

I have always adored the lightweight and versatility of Balenciaga Bags. The modern details have survived fashion crowd’s fleeting attention span and managed to stayed a classic favourite till this day. Perhaps the edgy details of studs and details without being over brash made it relevant regardless of seasons.

Throughout the years we have seen many shapes and sizes for Balenciaga bags. But lately, one of the new shapes that caught my eye is the Squash. Designed with a sportier silhouette and added with the functionality of a shoulder strap, this bag is both roomy and functional to use for gym, school, work or play.

For this season, the Balenciaga Squash moved straight to my wishlist with the new SS2013 Maree colour. An indigo blue that breaks away from the expected black and injects colour to the modern guy’s wardrobe. Often, Balenciaga mens bags are quite overwhelming in size, but for the Squash, the length of 44cm is just right without being cumbersome. This is definitely the bag that fits right with the modern guy’s lifestyle and yet looked good while at it.

Available at Mr Porter for £806.96 (or approx. SGD1532) which is a good price for a leather bag.

Longchamp Pop-Up Store And Le Pliage Sur Mesure Service

This Friday, I had the pleasure visiting Longchamp’s Pop-Up store at Paragon Shopping Mall in Singapore. Set up as a temporary retail space before a brand new boutique (Level 2) gets revamped in the coming weeks, the Pop-Up store is never lacking in its selection of exciting Longchamp Spring Summer 2013 bags. From new colours for their highly popular Le Pliage bags to SS2013’s new designs and Jeremy Scott’s latest collaboration, it’s a must visit if you are in Orchard Road:-)

To add to the motivtion, the pop-up store is also offering a limited run of Longchamp Sur Mesure service allowing you an opportunity to create your very own customised Le Pliage bags. You may have tried out the service on Longchamp’s website (and selected stores around the world), but to do it in person right here in Singapore is a totally refreshing experience.

I had heaps of fun creating my very own Le Pliage bag, deciding on the bag model, handle length, base and highlight colours, hardware, and even down to the iniitals on the bag. So many details to ensure a truly original bag that you can proudly call your own:-P

In the end, I decided i want a travel size Le Pliage Bag with a brightly coloured but timeless combination... So I chose a cheerful indigo blue with a highlight of taupe and bling it up with gold hardware before personalising with my own initials. This is what I will be expecting in 8 weeks time:-P (see below) Like it? Try out the service yourself. Get creative with wild and crazy colours or classic and smart hues... there is always a combination for everyone. While you are at it, don’t forget to customised matching coin pouches or handy clutch bags too, both of which are super functional cute.

Below: My very own customised travel size Le Pliage bag bearing my initials! Can't wait to receive it in 8 weeks time (or less)... Try it for yourself... so fun to put your creative juices at work:-)

This service allows you to customised your very own leather bag with options of 10 leather colours and 10 linings to suit any taste. As an option, perforate your initials onto the side of the bag to make your tote bag uniquely yours. I love the proportion of largest size... very smart as a daily work companion for the boys.

Below: Longchamp also offers customisation on leather bags... ask for the Le Cabas Sur Mesure if you are looking for leather totes created to your colour liking and bearing your initials:-) Love the size of the customised Kudu tote which looks proportionately right for the boys... A handy companion for work and play:-)
