The Material Boy #590

Below: Loving Andrea Pompilio's Spring Summer 2013 mens shoes, the unexpected colours and interesting details make them a standout...
Below: I love the black and white pair with a contrast orange coloured welt as does the slip-on turquoise pair which is equally appealing. Now brogues can be an all-occassion shoe, casual or formal:-)
Andrea Pompilio Spring Summer 2013 Mens Shoes

Andrea Pompilio has been one of my favourite new labels to keep watch ever since Tim Blanks from Style.com gave his endorsement to this talented menswear designer. Testament to his rising popularity, his collections have now been steadily infiltrating some of the best fashion stores around the world, including our own Club 21b in Singapore.

Noted for his bold play of colours and prints with an expected mix of menswear concepts, Andrea Pompilio’s ready to wear collections have received positive reviews from fashion fans, season after season. However,  it is his footwear designs that gets me palpitating with excitement the most. There is something charming in the way he fuses classics with modern, using unexpected colours, unique details and mix of materials to make his shoes a standout.

For spring summer 2013, Andrea Pompilio has successfully updated 2 classic mens’ favourites, the tasselled loafers and brogues. By using a pastel palette in a burnished leather treatment, his take on these classic designs now come with a worn-in feel but refreshed with summer friendly sorbet tones perfect for any colour loving modern dandy. One of the brogues design have also been removed of the usual shoe laces, and made as slip-ons that transform the formal footwear to a shoe suited for even casual occassions. I love this interesting idea that give brogues a more wearable and youthful appeal. Noteworthy too, are the buckled versions which ride on the rising popularity of monkstraps, and crafted to be smart without being conservative. All of these heeled shoes feature a white contrast mid layer on the soles which I feel is another detail that sets Andrea’s design distinctive over other brands.

Which pair have caught your eye so far? For me, I am keenly attracted to the black and white patent leather pair with a bright contrast orange coloured welt. Street cool fused with classics... that is a must have! Bravo yet again for Andrea Pompilio. May his collections get better and bigger in the near future:-)
