Every month when I get updates from Montblanc, my respect for the brand just gets deeper. Not only are their innovation in time pieces getting more luxurious and complex, but their craftsmanship and attention to detail is almost unrivalled.

For this month, I am even more convinced they have some of the world’s most detailed minds in their service to be able to conceived an exceptionally beautiful writing instrument, the Montblanc Patron of Art Edition: Henry E. Steinway.

As we all know, the classic Steinway grand piano is a work of art on its own, being favoured and admired by professional musicians and fans all over the world. The Montblanc Patron of Art Edition: Henry E. Steinway collection pays tribute to the grand master of piano manufacturing, celebrating both his remarkable piano innovations, and his outstanding contribution as an influential patron of the arts.

The limited edition collection of pens is available in two editions: Montblanc Patron of Art Edition Henry E. Steinway 4810 (black and gold) and Montblanc Patron of Art Edition Henry E. Steinway 888 (White, gold and black).

The Montblanc Patron of Art Edition Henry E. Steinway 4810 (SGD $3,690)
features the distinctive black and gold colour combination of a classic Steinway grand piano, with the barrel in deep black lacquer and gold-plated fittings. The fountain pen’s cap is decorated with the heart of the iconic music instrument – the harp, or overstrung piano.

The Montblanc Patron of Art Edition Henry E. Steinway 888 (SGD $12,900)
takes the piano inspiration to the next level. Each piece is adorned with the representation of a piano harp made from precious 750 solid gold. Through the delicately crafted skeletonised cap, the gold nib can be seen finely decorated with a filigree portrait of Steinway. The barrel features the depiction of one octave of piano keys in black and white, celebrating the exquisite balance, flexibility and smoothness that make a Steinway keyboard so unique. The pattern on the cap ring is inspired by the decor of the domed rotunda  in the Steinway Hall in New York. For this edition, the iconic Montblanc emblem is created from precious mother-of-pearl.
