The Quincy Hotel, Singapore
For a modern cosmopolitan city, Singapore seriously lacks design savvy hotels for the chic traveller. We do not have interesting chains of design hotels, such as W Hotels, setting up base here yet. Majority of the Singapore's hotels dates back many years ago and the decor and architecture are usually dated and not exciting.
Recent years see the influx of savvy hotels (Naumi, Scarlet Hotel and New Majestic Hotel are good examples) with innovative design aesthetics sprouting up on our tiny island. But most of these hotels are small in scale. So we need more options to compete with neighbouring destinations who are already packing some serious players in the hospitality industry. Such as Hong Kong (with their uber chic W hotel or Jia) and Bangkok (with an overwhelming array of designer accommodations, the latest being Le Meridien Bangkok and Tenface which I adored! They are even going to have a W hotel in a few years time.) Singapore needs to catch up to stay relevant:-)
So I am pleased to discover a new modern design boutique hotel just recently opened in February 2009...The Quincy Hotel! Located in Mount Elizabeth, just a stone's throw from bustling retail heaven of Orchard Road, this hotel packs serious design features and cool decor. I love the building's architecture as well as the contemporary guest room decor, with floor to ceiling windows. Quirky round lounge chairs are used in the lobby to inject a sense of high style. Definitely worth a stay there to experience modern Singapore. And I will be sure to recommend this hotel to my friends if they ever drop by. Perfect rest place for a fashionista after making his or her rounds of shopping!
Opening rates starts at SGD $208++ with an unusual inclusion, daily buffet breakfast, set lunch and dinner. Never heard of all day meals included in a room rate before! :-) Plus, you also complimentary cocktail from 6 - 8pm. Oh wow...that's generous and super bargain with regards to other similar standard hotel prices in Singapore. On top of that, internet access is free throughout your stay with Molton Browns toilettries and big LCD TV. Never a better time to try this new hotel, in view of the many long weekends this year.
