The Material Boy #433

Below: I am in love with this Céline Cabas Linen... the easy style translates well against any casual summer style. The frayed edging, linen fabric balanced with soft luxurious lambskin has that understated luxe that I adore... Red and blue stripes... French flag?:-)

Below: This 'rice sack' looking fabric is even presented as a huge cape on the Cruise 2011 presentation... as effortless as only Céline can achieved!

Below: Catalogue pic... I need to admire more pics of this chic bag...

Céline Cabas Linen

I am now obsessing about this Céline Cabas Linen with blue and red stripe... Love the possibilities I can play around with this simple tote bag (imagine decorating with different brooches and bag charms to add personality to the bag... The body is fabric so you will not damaged the bag in anyway. The look of the bag is also perfect to go with any summer styles!). Love the frayed edging on the top. Céline deserves a good applause by taking something as mundane as a 'rice sack' looking fabric, matched with the softest lamb skin to create something this desirable and chic. Only Phoebe Philo can achieve this attitude of effortless appeal.

I love. I want. I am also jumping for joy at the very affordable price tag of SGD1200 (or HK$6,000)... which constitutes a great part of me wanting this bag even more...

My Shopping Conquest #115

Below: Shopping in Tokyo! I got something from Tsumori Chisato Mens from their store in Aoyama:-) Singapore will soon get our own standalone boutique in Jan 2011! Rejoice!

Below: This was what I got... Tsumori Chisato Pre-spring 2011 Flower Appliqué Shirt... A huge 'painted' flower appliqué on the chest for some flair and flamboyance:-)

Below: What got me more interested are the subtle red stripe jersey lining under the collar...

Below: and end of the placket of the shirt... which peeks thru subtly when unbuttoned at neck or left untucked into pants...

Below: Mandatory myMANybags dressing room shot! I am trying out the shirt. Fits like a glove, Tokyo stocks Asian sizing:-) See how the red stripes peek out at the shirt ends...

Below: Wearing the shirt on its own... the flower print is cute!

Below: Angled view... I am sold with the red stripe detailing:-)

Below: What I wore that day... My 'newly bought in Tokyo' Tweed Blazer from Gap (Who would have thought Gap looked fab in Tokyo!), 'Brad' Denim Shirt from D&G, Dior Homme Jeans, Balmain Metal Loops Belt, Zara Military Boots (Finally my chance to do the 'tuck in' boots look! Yay!)...

Below: Spot the shirt inside the Tsumori Chisato store, Tokyo-Aoyama... See how it was matched with 'drop crotch' pants. Love the store decor. Simple and wooden rustic... hope our upcoming Singapore store by Club 21 shares the same interior details! Most importantly, stock some great merchandise such as the Aoyama store:-) Cruise 2011 Mens looked fab...

Below: Professional pics of the shirt without my 'yellow tinted' lighting at time of photography at the store...

Tsumori Chisato Pre Spring 2011 Flower Appliqué Shirt

December is indeed a month where I bled out my bank account! Having a visit to Tokyo is very bad news to my wallet. When you are in Tokyo, especially posh Aoyama... Shopping is inevitable with so many temptations waiting for you in every corner.

I did not want to buy overpriced international brands, hence the local Japanese brands are a must-see. Of course, I subcumbed to the calling of the shops... much to disappointment of my fast-crumbling resolve not to! How can one resist?!?!

One of the shopping conquests I had while wandering Aoyama in Tokyo was this Tsumori Chisato Pre-Spring 2011 Flower Appliqué Shirt. I stumbled upon this shirt on the mannequin in the store, but was not paying attention to it until I was about to leave. The cute Japanese sales guy was wearing the shirt, but contrasted it with a pair of Khaki harem pants and a pair of combat boots. This is 'living' fashion inspiration! A refreshing take on something 'feminine' against something tough. I love the look and hence, made a u turn back to the men's section to try the shirt. The sizing was petite and perfect... I just had to get it.

Besides the flower print on the chest, I also adore the red stripe jersey lining inside the collar and along the ends of the placket of the shirt. Little details go a long way! When worn untucked, the red stripes peeked out from the shirt ends and collar, adding a subtle but outstanding spot of colour and interest.

The new selections for Tsumori Chisato mens looked really promising at the Aoyama store. I wonder when the standalone store in Singapore's Forum Shopping Mall (by Club 21 Global) opens in Jan 2011, will we get an equally good selection as well? I hope so! Tsumori Chisato standalone boutique is poised to open at Forum Shopping Mall (from what I heard so far)... will share more details when I have them.

Here's some pics (see above) from my dressing room try out... I got the shirt and love it. Flower prints appeared in quite a few men's runway (Jil Sander is one!)...so this shirt should serve me well in the coming summer months!

Below: D&G Cruise 2011 shoes... love those with Gingham checks patterns!

Below: I love the D&G Spring Summer 2011 collection... Gingham checks patterns are so charming:-)

D&G Cruise 2011 Mens Bags and Shoes

Here's a preview of what's coming from D&G Cruise 2011 mens bags and shoes. I may not be a fan like I used to for D&G's very commercial collections, but undeniably, their superb cutting for menswear are redeeming qualities that kept me going back. I am a fan of their shirts... they fit the best!

For Spring Summer 2011, I have already pre-selected quite a number of looks I am coveting, since I am a huge fan of colours, checks pattern and holiday style! D&G's Spring Summer 2011 collection hit just the right notes for me. But before these desirable pieces hit the stores, it is time to shop the cruise season first. For Cruise 2011, we are given a taste of what's coming for summer. Design cues from the summer collection are incorporated into the cruise designs. I am already sold on the yellow gingham checks canvas shoes. Such a cheery feet companion for warm weather and very matching with shorts:-) I want!

The sand coloured suede loafers with blue gingham checks lining is another favourite, giving off a laid back vibe with a spot of colour. Love again!

As for bags, I am not too sure I like them. But for fans of the brand, these basic leather bags in bright summer colours are a great addition to pack your getaway gear! The blue duffel stands out the most for me. I am toying with the idea of the giant waist pouch that can be cross sling over the body... need to try that out:-)

Sale season is in full force... cruise season is following in hot pursuit... Let's shop some cruise seasons offerings while we wait patiently for summer season!

Below: Burberry Prorsum Prefall 2011 Menswear... time to start introducing colours while retaining winter themes...

Burberry Prorsum Prefall 2011 Menswear

Prefall (Cruise) collection often taps on the commerciality of a brand's designs. Often than not, these highly wearable ready to wear pieces are high on profit making capabilities but lower on design concepts.

However, things have taken a turn these days with designers paying more attention to Cruise collections. It is an opportunity to reintroduce colours of warmer months to come while retaining the 'winter-y' themes to their 'winter gear weary' customers.
Burberry Prorsum's Prefall 2011 Menswear is one such noteworthy collection. Seeing spots of tangerine, honey, camel and sky blue is a breath of fresh air amongst the abundant dull winter hues. I love the bolder colour use in this Burberry Prorsum Prefall collection, something that has been missed since many seasons.

Silhouettes are narrow and fitted, creating a smart appeal without being too suffocating. Smart tailoring synonymous with the brand is prominent in the collection. I love the fine corduroy suits in gorgeous reddish browns, refined and elegant for any occasion. The tangerine trench is a definite attention grabber, one of my favourites too, casting away the traditional subdued hues of khakis or blacks.

Cosy Fairisle wool jumpers beckons to be worn...ideal for cuddling around a fireplace during X'mas time with loved ones. The colourful patterns adds an appropriate cheery mood. I am usually not a fan of shearling coats with their weight being a burden on top of all the thick winter gear you wear. But the plaid pattern shearling coat in this collection makes me want to grab one immediately for myself! I love the plaid patterns:-)

On a last note, I am lusting over those rubber sole lace-ups that fuses trainer soles with classic mens footwear. Rich brown tone ensures it goes with anything, as seen throughout all the lookbook pics.

Love this collection. It's a testament yet again to Christopher Bailey's savvy taste and vision. If only Singapore weather allows for such gorgeous layering... this Burberry Prorsum Prefall 2011 collection will be sure to take away quite a bit of my clothing budget!

Givenchy Pre-Spring Summer (Cruise) 2011 Womens Bags

Catch on the leopard fever come next Pre-Spring Summer (Cruise) 2011 at Givenchy. Not only can you 'spot' the 3 iconic Givenchy bags (Nightingale, Pandora and Antigona) all clad in their glamourous coat of spotted 'fur' but you also find shoes and ready to wear pieces in all it's feline glory. Even the Jet-setting fashionista gets to indulge in some 'furlicious' leopard print thru the Leopard Nightingale Trolley Bag!

If 'flaunting' your animal side is not your thing, how about some elegance with the Antigona bag in white Ostrich texture? The white/gold combination exudes a new level of sophistication and the chunky hardware and elegant shape provides versatility to glam it up or tough it down.

There also seems to be a new member to the Antigona family, in the form of a shoulder sling tote spotting a python leather texture. I believe Givenchy only uses printed leather, which means I do not have to pawn an arm or leg for it. Hello, gorgeous, you are mine next season!

Givenchy is getting me excited!

Christian Dior Marina Bay Sands Grand Opening Party: Post Event Report

Last night, the much anticipated Christian Dior Marina Bay Sands Opening Party took place to much fan fare, celebrity buzz and lots of free flowing champagne amidst beautiful fashion.

Bagaholicboy, Xwen and me were there to enjoy the atmosphere while not forgetting to bring all our lovely readers the sights and sounds of the most talked about party of this year. Dior really went all the way and no expense were spared to create a most memorable experience for all Dior fans. The scale of the party is unmatched! So many celebrities and guests (almost a thousand!).

VIP guests the likes of Zhao Wei, Fann Wong and many local celebrities (Joanne Peh, Alvin Ng, Nadya Hutagalung and many others) were seated in exclusive areas while other guests wandered around the huge tent treating themselves to delicious canapes and free flowing cocktails. The atmosphere was very club-like and high adrenalin. Music was great with superb lighting that makes you want to dance right away! There were even photo booths shaped like huge mirrors for guests to snap mementos of themselves for keeps! An ingenious feature to entertain guests for a party:-)

2 runway shows were staged for the evening, first show featuring the Fall Winter 2010 collection and then followed by the Cruise 2011 collection. The high energy runway presentation saw gorgeous ready to wear from John Galliano sashayed down the massive runway, charming guests and wowing fashion fans alike. I love the flowing gowns that came at the last part of both shows. Liu Wen's peach orange gown was a huge standout. I love it and can foresee many editorial exposure for that piece:-) The fur and equestrian influences of Fall Winter is luxurious while the colourful Cruise Collection evoke a fun sensibility of aboard a cruise holiday. Applause to Dior:-)

Enjoy the many pics I took of the event. Thank you to Dior once again for the invite. Look forward to even greater and more fabulous parties from you guys. This will indeed be a benchmark for all Fashion Parties in Singapore from now on!
