My MANy Bags Trendspotting #10

This is how you work the YSL Raspail Cascade Print Tote!
Ahah..out season bags does not mean you dun look chic and stylish. The YSL Raspail Cascade Print Tote is something Bagaholicboy has been wanting from last season. It sure does look very nice if you know how to work it. I do like the gold shoes and scarf against orange and beige, it's a pretty rare combination. Maybe because this guy is wearing such bright eye-poping colours that the black and white version of the tote bag suddenly stands out from the colour splash.
What do you guys think?
(Oh, I was so surprised when I read the guy is Ken Goh, Fashion Director at Harpers Bazaar Singapore! I wish we can doing layering like that here. Wonder where he got that orange jacket from. At least he did not make us 'Singaporean Men' 'lose face' amidst all the fashionistas and fashionistos in NYC.)

HI KEVIN , WOW THIS GUY IS A REAL FASHIONISTAS.I LOVE THE ORANGE JACKET AND THE GOLD SHOES THEY ARE SO STRIKING.HIS GOLD SHAWL LET THE WHOLE LOOK STANDS OUT.WOW I AM IMPRESS.
At first glance I thought it was overkill of colours and striking gold. But on second glance, I see the harmony in the tones. It is very complimentary and I start to like it. I would lose the shawl if I am him. Gold shawl on guys is a bit too much. But he does seem to be able to carry that well. :-)
I love the bag still, but the outfit I still don't get. I am no fashionista for sure...
PROBABLY IF I LOOK IT AT A SECOND GLANCE, IT HAS A LOT OF COLORS GOING ON.
I like the bag but the outfit looks very Bollywood to me.
It all depends on how strong you want your fashion 'beacon' to be:-) 10% power or 100% power. This guy seems to want 100% power and more. that is why he got featured amongst the hundreds who attend the fashion week in NYC:-) Hehe.
Bollywood style is a great description! hahaha..Allan, you are so good with descriptive words. First sissyfication and now bollywood:-P hehehhe
Yeah, the bag is cute:-) Never imagine it looks so chic.
Oh Alvin, he must be the one fighting with you for the bag!:-( grrrr...
BTW, I met up with one of the SAs from Gucci cos he stumbled upon my blog and wanted to buy the 'Bringing Home The Birkin' together with my kino card. He says he has seen you buying the Gucci dog charm! Small world eh? HEHE.
Kev
this and the black rubber "croc" version are the only other YSL bags i wouldn't mind having. although its not my colours, i think his outfit is fine.
i like his layering but i dont think his gold shawl and shoes would be able to match much with other colours, no?
pulling off the gold and then putting it back to basics with monotones are always so interesting!
The Gucci SA knows me too? How surreal...
Hi Alvin,
hehe...something that you wear or carry must have given you away. You got fans!:-P
And toosan, yes, the gold tones is complimentary to the overall orange and beige hues. Just that the gold scarf might be a bit melodramatic. my opinions only.:-) I know I will not wear the scarf. :-P
And Mr Duck, wait till you see next season's YSL bags. They have a military inspired duffel that has debossed military writing in vintage effect leather. Gorgeous! I should scan and post!:-P Spring summer 2009 will be major damage to bank acoounts!
wert? YSL has a military inspired bag? Being a devoted YSL fan and I don't know of this? Please tell me more!!!!
Hello Toosan,
yeah, next season you see more man bag designs from YSL. I will try to post a pic. If you can browse thru this magazine, L'officiel 1000 Models Homme for spring summer 2009, there is a section on accessories and YSL is featured, showing all the spring 2009 bags for men. One of them is this vintage leather duffet with debossed military letters. Very nice colour. Masculine.
:-)
Kevin
