YSL Fall Winter 2012 Mens Shoes, Bags And Accessories

Stefano Pilati's swan song collection for YSL sets a dark sombre mood with a subtle fetish theme shrouded with plenty of blacks. Metal plated details on leather footwear (LV is using metal plated details too!) were the standout of the collection as does the razor blade motifs that were translated across the runway in sweaters to bracelets and necklaces. Although, Alexander Mcqueen had a head start to using razors as inspirations... Stefano managed to introduced a different level of luxe appeal to his interpretation. I have definitely set my sights on the Y-mail dog tag necklace, now paired with a razor blade pendant.

As for bags, a reworked of proportions from the successful women's Chyc Cabas means the boys gets to be chic as the women. Nonetheless, after trying the bag in person, I find the size suited for travels and not daily use. It's also significantly heavier than the women's version. The Johnny boots with those infamous high heels continues in the collection, rendered in different colours and leathers. Burgundy, forest green and tan browns becomes the complimentary accents for the dominant black collection. I would conclude the accessories have steer into predictable and stale territory. Few surprises. But hopefully Hedi Slimane will inject some excitement soon and make YSL once again, the revered fashion house it once was!

YSL's bags are always impossibly chic. Love these items.
