Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #264

Below: Marni Fall Winter 2012 mens shoes, bags and accessories...always charming without trying too hard. Fur accents adds that winter touch while crimson reds injects excitement to dull winter tones...

Below: I love the plaid patterns and sporty inspirations for the collection...
Marni Fall Winter 2012 Mens Shoes, Bags And Accessories

Marni shed aways spring summer's graphic shapes and turns to winter hues and plaid patterns for their new Fall Winter 2012 Accessories collection. Crimson reds were a standout from the collection of predominant browns and navy tones. The reds stood out injecting visual excitement to the collection. Fur tail bag charms and trimmings inject winter moods that are both tactile and luxurious. The minimal lines and designs of Marni stayed consistent, cleverly utilising contrasting colours and patterns to create charming shoes, bags, all imbued with a sporty attitude.

For me, I am loving the leather totes decorated with those fur tails. The chunky loafers with a contrasting colour band on the top are also favourites. Plaid patterned backpacks will give new appeal to outdoor travel styles. All in all, Marni simply makes it easy for the boys to look effortlessly chic for the new season!

The Material Boy #508

Below: I found a nice Burgundy coloured cardigan after obsessing over the look from yesterday's Marni shirt post). Topman to the rescue... Zac kept himself warm and dashing in Topman Burgundy Chunky Cable Knit Cardigan while promoting his new movie, New Year's Eve in London.
Topman Burgundy Chunky Cable Knit Cardigan: Worn By Zac Efron!

I got very inspired by my blog post on the Marni Graphic Tile Print Shirt yesterday. I love the matching of a Burgundy coloured outer piece over the printed shirt. Hence, I was on the lookout all day to scour for one. Thank the shopping gods, I found it... all thanks to Topman and Zac Efron! Looking cute and comfy in Topman's Burgundy Chunky Cable Knit Cardigan, Zac kept himself warm and dashing in London while promoting his new movie, New Year's Eve.

Now I want both this cardigan (only £44) and that Marni shirt. The burgundy colour will bring out prints very well. The fact that Zac Efron chose to wear it, makes the cardigan even more a must-have!

Below: Prints obsessed... This gentlemen pulled off Marni's Graphic Tile Shirt shirt with a pop of colour from his burgundy coloured cardigan. Now I am in love with the shirt...
Below: Marni creates some of the most interesting graphic prints... look up close and you can feel that artistic vibe:-)

Marni Mens FW2011 Graphic Tile Print Shirt

Lately, I am obsessed with prints. Maybe I am psyching up to the incoming explosion of prints for Spring Summer 2012. But you do not have to wait till next season to start getting into the prints mania. Get your hands on some pieces right now, especially with end-of-season sales raging full on. Buy ahead, save some budget and get the look before anyone else.

I love this Marni Graphic Tile Print Shirt available now at Mr Porter (£249.99). The shirt will soon be on sale, so ready your clicks when Mr Porter's international sale starts (Their US site have commenced their markdowns, so the international site will follow soon). I know I will be counting down if my size is still available. Who bought that size 46!?!?!?!? Grrrr... (Knuckles crackling...)

The gentlemen featured in the above pic does not help in easing my disappointment.... I love how he matches the printed shirt with a simple Burgundy coloured cardigan, perfectly exemplifying Marni's preppy chic. Bravo to Marni!

My MANy Bags Lookbook #27

Below: Marni frenzy... it's time for prints and colours!

Prints Frenzy: Marni Obsessed?

Inspired by the upcoming Marni at H&M collection... I want some Marni in my wardrobe already:-P So I decided to center a look on some key Marni pieces... that means prints and colour blocking!

I chose a Marni moss green polka dot shirt, loose fitted for a relaxed silhouette but contrast it with a ultra narrow Lanvin tapered leg slim navy trousers to play on proportions. Burberry Prorsum's SS2012 wedge sole woven leather shoes adds that much needed pop of colour and eccentricity to evoke feel of Marni. Né-net's Tiger Brooch also adds up that playful touch.

For a luxurious boost, who else to turn to but some 'orange' magic from Hermès. The H en Voyage silk and cashmere fringed scarf will drape nicely around the neck, complimenting the green tones of the look, while a Cape Cod watch keeps the Marni guy timely and preppy. Lastly, Marni's Canvas and Leather Colourblock tote bag rounds off the outfit, balancing the navy tones of the trousers. Are you ready for more Marni? I do!

My MANy Bags News #355

Below: Marni is the next designer to collaborate for H&M! The Marni at H&M collection will hit stores on 8 March 2012...

Marni Is the New Designer To Collaborate With H&M For Next Spring 2012!

Another piece of good news for all fashion and H&M fans! Fast behind the highly hyped Versace for H&M collection which was just launched mid November... H&M announces their next designer collaboration for next Spring 2012 today! And surprisingly... of all the brands we have been speculating... it's Marni's turn to shine! Consuelo Castiglioni is famous for her whimsical and bold patterns with quirky styling that gets every girl and guy clamouring for her designs. Now everyone can have a chance to wear Marni's inventive styles all at H&M pricing:-)

“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements”. Consuelo Castiglioni, Founder and Creative Director.

“We all love the collection here at H&M and we believe that our customers will do the same. Marni has such a modern touch with everything they do, mixing prints and accessories in a playful but chic way. It’s fantastic to see how Consuelo Castiglioni coordinates her designs, matching new combinations of print and colour, with such incredible craftsmanship behind every piece. The collection will arrive in stores at just the perfect time, as a lovely statement for spring“. Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor H&M.

However, I have my reservations for this collaboration. Marni is founded on the concept of innovative fashion with an emphasis on hand work quality and revolutionary materials. Since Marni does not leverage on flashy styles or opulent glamour... I wonder how well Consuelo's designs will translate at H&M level. The beautiful fabrics/materials and quality finishes may take a back seat? (Leatherwares always disappoints for fast fashion) Or the prints will save the day as a key part of the collection as previewed in the pictures above? What are your thoughts?

One thing's for sure, this collection will still appeal to many fans nonetheless. Marni's aesthetics will be more wearable hence that will bore well for H&M:-) The Marni at H&M collection will hit stores and online come 8 March 2012.

The Material Boy #455

Below: Bryanboy’s coverage of Thai Designer JBB* by Jirawat Bote Benchakarn’s Fall Winter 2011 menswear collection (at the recent Singapore Mens Fashion Week) inspired me for some military fashion inspirations this Monday. I need to combat serious Monday blues!

Below: Love these pieces from MR PORTER that carries the military flavour without being too literal...

Below: Most of all, I want this pair of Trussardi 1911 Camouflage Print Espadrilles!
Military Monday: 'Butch' Up!

Inspired by Bryanboy’s pics covering Thai Designer JBB* by Jirawat Bote Benchakarn’s Fall Winter 2011 menswear collection (Shown at the recent Singapore Mens Fashion Week 2011)... I decided I am going to seek ‘military retail enlightenment’ today. Love JBB* by Jirawat Bote Benchakarn’s take on Military Camouflage pattern, pairing it with refined sartorial suiting and shorts. Not entirely a new idea, but I love the contrast these looks create.

Hence, I browsed online and found these lovely pieces to share here. Pieces that fit the military theme without going too literal. Trussardi 1911 has an amazing pair of camouflage print espadrilles (¥43,050) that presents a relax resort feeling...while ready to rough it out in any terrain:-)

Marni’s contrast panel short sleeve shirt (£196) is perhaps the army version of colour blocking, using jersey and cotton fabrics in olive and black tones for effective panelling effect. I love the way the back of the shirt looks... it’s a timeless and interesting piece that will command attention! I also love Burberry Brit’s dark olive green slim fit cargo trousers (£125), which breaks away from the sloppy looser versions and gets you into a more streamlined and smarter silhouette.

Wear all the above pieces together then round it up with Trussardi’s Camouflage Print Laptop Sleeve (use it as a clutch!) ... tada... you have a hot military look, ready to brave thru any Monday Blues!

Marni Mens Spring Summer 2011 Bags, Shoes And Accessories

Preview into what's coming for Marni Mens Spring Summer 2011 Bags and Accessories...

Contrary to the almost monochromatic women's collection, Marni mens play on lots of colour. 'Doc Marten' style shoes with rubber soles are the highlight of the collection, coming in vibrant hues and one style with a colour blocking effect! I love footwear from Marni, and next season seemed promising to bag another pair. Colourful shoes are the trend for next Spring Summer 2011, as also seen in Prada.

The Marni mens bags leverage on utilitarian designs, crafted from fabrics and washed leather. Simple styles in totes, backpacks and shoulder bags that will take any guy thru night and day. But alaways injected with bright hues to welcome the summer spirit.

The eye wear are also bursting with colours, with coloured lens and frames to play up any summer ensemble!

For me, I just love the shoes!

Below: Marni Womens bags, shoes and accessories gets graphic and monochrome for Spring Summer 2011!

Marni Spring Summer 2011 Womens Bags, Shoes And Accessories

Spring Summer 2011 womens' accessories from Marni get more graphic and tap into a monochrome colour palette. The designs are once again, unique and quirky, evolving from the ever artistic and sophisticated Marni women we so loved. Although working with fewer colour tones, the effect is one that is concise and strong, with black and white creating an outstanding and predominant graphic statement.

Love those checks frame bags, seemingly woven and those leather hobos with accent coloured trims of yellow and dusty rose pink.

The shoes feature thick wooden heels and quite a handful adopted the graphic treatment in black and white as well.

It is interesting to see Marni playing down her colours, refreshing the visual treatment and injecting freshness to the collections!

29 October: It's An Auspicious Store Opening Day!

Yes, not only is last Friday my birthday...but it seemed to be an auspicious day for brands to celebrate their store openings as well:-) Gucci and Marni both had their new store openings at Marina Bay Sands and Paragon Shopping Mall respectively on this very special day.

I was privileged to be invited for both glamourous events, however, due to the conflicting schedule, we arrived late for Marni. Nonetheless, we still had a blast frolicking the many quirky pieces of talented Marni creative director Consuelo Castiglioni while sipping champagne:-)

Here's pictures of what has transcended before our arrival.... a well attended event with Consuelo gracing the occasion personally and our 3 beautiful Mediacorp celebrities adding that extra sparkle with their star appeal! Guests were also happy with their goodie bag (I wonder what is inside!:-P) and being able to savour in person the many delectable fashion goodies in the new Marni store. (Check out those brooches! I like!)
As for Gucci, the Marina Bay Sands store was all decked out in full glamour to await the many impeccably dressed guests that attended the event. Champagnes and canapes flowed thru the evening while we happily fondled the 'STAR' bag of the evening, the Gucci Bamboo Bag, a reinterpretation of the classic design by Frida Giannini, now made even more glamourous and contemporary for the modern women.

The night also marked the opening of the travelling 'Bamboo Retrospective Exhibition' which traces the history of this iconic bag. The exhibition will take you on a journey to view vintage products from Gucci's own archives, together with archive photography of personalities, including Ingrid Bergman and Vanessa Redgrave, carrying the Bamboo throughout the years.

This unique exhibition lets you learn about the story of this iconic bag, its place in fashion history, while at the same time, being able to enjoy the "New Bamboo", a 21st century version of this classic handbag made relevant by Gucci's Creative Director, Frida Giannini.

2 highlights of the evening, of course, number 1, has to be meeting local mediacorp actress Jeanette Aw who in person and on screen is equally beautiful, with a friendly personality to match. She gladly obliged to picture taking sessions with our whole 'blogging entourage'!:-P So gracious and approachable:)

I also caught up once again with the cute male model from Dior Homme (now spotting facial hair! So man!)....and ever so cute. Now I know he is from Brazil and named Christopher:-P Even got a picture with him. Hello Christopher!

Thank you to Gucci and Club 21 for the gracious invites. May both stores enjoy huge success and make Singapore the fashion and shopping destination that will see our luxury retail future a super bright one!
