Colourful and Fun: Prada Spring Summer 2015 Mens Nylon Backpacks

Summer season is in sight and brands are starting to let back in colours and prints to their collections. Backpacks have been my new obsession, and I am sure many of you feel the same too.

For this blog post, I am going to tempt you guys with Prada’s new Spring Summer 2015 range of functional backpacks that sums up fun and style. Prada was put on the fashion map and known the world over because of the success of their nylon bags. So these nylon backpacks are true classics and are quintessential for casual, handsfree daily use... now made even more appealing with new printed appeal. In my opinion, they also make perfect travel companions for summer breaks as they pack a lot, are lightweight and durable with handy exterior pockets and comfortable padded shoulder straps to ease commuting. I just cannot resist the new cheerful colours in super fun argyle checksor a recurred graphic camouflage pattern... It's a must have for the new season!

Retailing for £595, a great price for something to use for a long time and one transcend seasons. I am already eyeing the green graphic camouflage version. Time to hit the Prada stores this weekend!

Prada Pre-Spring 2014 Mens Briefcase

Below: A sell-out design... these statement making Prada Pre-Spring 2014 mens briefcases with Hawaiian and tropical prints are a must have for the coming summer months! I want the Hawaiian girl print version:-)
Work Bags That Inspire Tropical Vacations: Prada Pre-Spring 2014 Mens Briefcase

Want to stand out at the work place? Besides impressing bosses and co-workers with your work abilities... an easier way to make an impression is with some outstanding work accessories. Prada’s Pre-spring 2014 Mens Briefcases will definitely achieve that and more... especially when they feature some amazingly memorable Hawaiian inspired prints over their classic saffiano leather styles. But flaunt at your own risk. These are for eyes of the 'brave and bold' fashion-forward office crowd. However one thing’s for sure... I love them and want to take them anywhere for holidays or over weekends. I am a fan of the prints, which inspires tropical vacations. Hawaiian girls, hibiscus or  ramage motifs, the prints proves kitsch and chic can co-exist for your summer 2014 wardrobe. Wear with shorts and sandals for some feel-good fashion fun.

Already sold out on Prada’s website for most of the key prints (the 'Hawaiian girl' version which I adored is no longer available...sob sob!). It seems the US$2450 price tag are not slowing sales for these outstanding bags. I bet we will see some streetstyle action soon for these bags at the currently happening Mens Fall Winter 2014 Fashion Week in Europe.

Hawaiian Vacation Inspired: Prada Pre-Spring 2014 Gifts Collection

Fall Winter 2013 is fast coming to an end with end of season sales starting everywhere and new resort merchandise invading the stores. With Christmas coming, we will be spoilt for choice on gifts for ourselves or our friends and family.

For this Christmas, I welcome any pieces from Prada’s Resort 2014 Gifts collection. Inspired by Hawaiian vacations with florals and holiday motifs that beckon an island getaway, these are fun accessories to ease any winter blues. I love the kitsch nature of the bold graphic designs, only Prada can turn ‘tacky’ to chic. All those tropical leaves and florals makes me want to travel! I love the idea of embellishing all my bags with those colourful luggage tags to give it that holiday spin. Instant holiday makeover!

The small leather goods from coin purses to wallets will inject holiday joy when you flash them out from your pockets. Ain’t that going to bring any smiles to any friends and family like all holidays do? I want the tiger coin purse or the wallets with the sunset/palm trees motifs.

Below: Such cute coin purses... The tiger one is my must-have!
I don’t know about you... but Prada Resort 2014 Gifts collection makes me look forward to summer 2014 already. I am keenly awaiting the printed bags... but for the time being, these little vacation inspired accessories will stand in to ease the wait. I sense a little festive treat coming this weekend for me!

Flower Power For Menswear Spring Summer 2014

Below: Many designers are proposing floral prints for their SS2014 mens collection... I love Prada's rendition the most, especially on those quirky bags and sweaters:-) Flower power is invading next Summer!
Below: Dries Van Noten, Ami and Gucci are all embracing flower motifs for their SS2014 menswear...

Floral Prints For Spring Summer 2014 Menswear

Call it feminine or sissy all you want... the boys of Spring Summer 2014 wears flamboyant and brightly coloured floral prints. Yes, designers from Prada, Dries Van Noten, Ami, Gucci and even Givenchy (Pre-spring 2014) are all embracing the concept of florals on guys.

Loving Prada’s rendition of a ‘menacing paradise’ which sees Hawaiian inspired florals given new languid beauty in bright bursts of burgundys and blues. Translated on ready to wear to 'definite sell-out’ bags and luggage tags... I see another hit collection cashing in big bucks for the brand next year.

Dries Van Noten’s fearless but tasteful proposition of florals vs. masculinity is quite a visual treat too. Gold bullion embroidery juxtaposes with swirling floral patterns, in sometimes feminine fabrications challenges even the most daring fashion guys to embrace their softer side.

Ami took the flower prints in a tropical paradise and weave in an endearing story of guys on the move at airports. Be it holiday makers or business executives, their worlds meet and greet, bringing a sense of familiarity to the clothes, relatable to guys who travels. Tropical flower prints simply beckons for holidays:-)

Gucci also sent a series of heavily decorated floral looks down their runway... exemplifying Italian charm and a luxurious athletic direction, thoughtfully soften with flower motifs.

Next year will be a visually exciting fashion summer. Get ready for the invasion of flower power!

Below: Prada Spring Summer 2013 Mens Shoes are a fashion take on sporting trend for the new season...

Prada Spring Summer 2013 Mens Shoes

In this Spring Summer 2013 where sports influenced trends takes the spotlight, trainers are a given when it comes to season relevant footwear. We have seen plenty of those by now. But for non-conformist, Miuccia Prada, her take on the sporting trend brings us designs of summer friendly sandals, a welcoming choice for those who want more casual options. Reminiscent of hiking designs, Prada injected a modern colour block detail in the form of trimmings and using brushed calf leather for that high shine fashion spin.

Even slip-ons get the same retro inspired treatment... the pointy toe shape gives the wearer a sharper look while colour trims spice up your colour palette.

Below: Strong colours and high shine brushed calf leather adds a modern feel to the slip-ons...

The Sandals retails for USD620 and slip-ons for USD760.

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #206

Below: Milan Fashion Week's snowy weather did not dampen the spirit of the 'fashion squad'... especially Simone Marchetti who wore a match red cardigan and scarf with amazing Prada FW2012 Levitate Shoes! I love those shoes:-)
Simone Marchetti Wore Prada Levitate Shoes During Milan Fashion Week Fall Winter 2013

WIt's a snowy fashion season... Milan got its fair share of winter weather during the recent Milan Fashion Week FW2013. However, it seems all the frosty weather is not dampening the fashion squad's spirit to dress to impress. Not when it comes to fashion chameleons like Simone Marchetti:-)

Clad in a deep red cardigan and matching scarf... the menswear buyer also got out those drool worthy Prada Levitate Shoes from FW2012. Most appropriate for the SS2013 season's sporting themes that influenced collections from Prada to Louis Vuitton to Dries Van Noten.

Below: This metallic pair is right on cue for SS2013's metallic and sporting trends... love!

I want the metallic pair! Right on cue again for the metallic trend for this summer too;-) Miuccia Prada has amazingly keen foresight for what's in, way before others:-)

The Material Boy #565

Below: New prints for Prada's SS2013 Nylon Shopping Totes... One of my favourite bags for any day, any time. I now want to add these new prints to my collection:-)
Below: Love the green paisley version and the blue geometric florals... almost like a camouflage pattern of sorts:-)

Prada Spring Summer 2013 Mens Printed Shopping Tote

New shopping lists are forming with the incoming Spring Summer 2013 merchandise arriving speedily into stores. One of my must buys for each season is Prada’s Nylon Shopping tote. A staple in Prada's collection now with different prints introduced for each season. I have been raving about the visually interesting patterns and functional aspect of these light weight bags on my blog here and here. Having acquired 2... I can attest to their usability and now they are my favourite 'go to' bags for any time any day.

Your Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy may induce serious bag envy with your fellow peers...but some days you just need a casual throw around arm companion that matches, carries everything and even serve as a good day bag during travels. Prada's Nylon Printed Shopping Tote fits these roles perfectly. Especially when they come in an almost camouflage like pattern of paisley and geometric florals of greens and blues. Just in time for ‘green and prints frenzy’ this Spring Summer 2013. (Retails for USD395)

The Material Boy #558

Below: Prada SS2013 runway featured bags are a departure from the patterned frenzy propagated by Miuccia Prada for the past few seasons... something minimal and sports inspired is taking over. Do you like these 2 tone leather weekenders? or Travel bags and leather satchels? They remind me of early days of Prada in the 80's...

Below: The models 'proudly' showing off the new SS2013 leather bags...

Prada Spring Summer 2013 Runway Featured Bags

A sporty Spring Summer 2013 is what Prada is all about. Somewhat retro inspired but modernised with a graphic colourblock sensibility.

The bags are pared down in design, no extra flashy details to brag about. Colours is the key appeal. 2 tone leather weekenders, travel totes and leather satchels form the backbone of the SS2013 runway accessories. Choose from either grained or smooth calfskin, these bags are a departure from the patterned frenzy Prada have been propagating for the last few seasons.

Will you invest in these glamourised 'gym' style bags? Or leave them at the runways? In all honesty, I would not mind the travel bag or the leather satchel. But at the price tag of USD2295 and USD1295 respectively... I do have to ponder harder. The colour tones are briliant nonetheless.

The Material Boy #550

Below: A feminine material such as sequins for a masculine pattern such as camouflage? Well, only Prada can pull off this dichotomy with finesse!

Prada Camouflage Sequin Loafers + Past Season Inspirations Recurred

The gender lines are blurring. Prada is pushing the expectations of mens footwear yet again. This time, creating even more contradiction by using a highly feminine material on a masculine pattern. Yes, sequins for camouflage print on their new selection of loafers! Do boys dare brave this pair of eye catching Camouflage Sequin Loafers (USD950)? Or shy away for fear of mockery by being too metrosexual?

The sequin patterned loafers also adopted Prada's Fall Winter 2012 Geometric Floral patterns (USD950), giving fans another option. Only time will tell if these new sequin footwear will be well received by the boys. (I have a hunch, these will fly off the shelves:-P)

For 'safer' options... there are also the studded and jewelled styles (USD1100) recurred from Prada's highly sought after Spring Summer 2012. Mens footwear just got more exciting.

Pre-order yours at Barneys New York if you are fearless in crossing fashion front lines.

My Bag Collection #68

Below: More Prada prints mania for me... I got my 2nd printed nylon tote. These totes are light-weight and tough, which is perfect for day to day use and especially for travelling...
Below: For Fall Winter 2012, the prints features head silhouettes of knights, vikings and gentlemens in a gorgeous mustard, brown and black colour print...
More Prints Mania: Prada Fall Winter 2012 Tessuto Stampato Nylon Shopping Tote

Prada's highly functional nylon totes, featuring colourful and interesting prints have became one of my favourite bags to carry around any time any day. I got my blue arabic geometric print version in Spring Summer 2011 and I have been looking for another ever since. I love Spring Summer 2012's 'dancing couple' print and Fall Winter 2011's plaids but they somehow never got me excited enough to want one. I want a pattern that is more unique with the right colour tones that can match up any outfits.

For Fall Winter 2012, Prada's mens collection stresses on the power play of masculine males. The silhouette prints of knights, gentlemen and vikings are perfect to exemplify the concept. These patterns have since been translated into shirts, trousers and even jacket pins. When I saw these prints on my favourite nylon totes, I immediately knew the time to get the 2nd one has arrived. The new season prints of these headshots comes in reverse white in navy or tobacco and black against mustard and brown. I chose the latter. The difference in the recent seasons nylon totes is the saffiano leather handles which adds a new level of sturdiness to the bag.

Looks like my year end holiday day bag is sorted. Available now in Prada Ion Orchard in Singapore and retails for SGD580. (There is also a sabre or pistol print in red and black. I am contemplating the pistol version as well!)

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #263

Below: Prada Fall Winter 2012 mens shoes, bags and accessories... Another statement making collection...

Below: It's a quaint collection with the modern dandy... sartorial styles with a twist:-)

Prada Fall Winter 2012 Mens Shoes, Bags And Accessories

Prada has now earned a reputation for creating the most eye catching and statement making footwear for men. From Spring Summer 2011's Espadrilles brogues to Spring Summer 2012's studded golf shoes, the list keeps getting longer. For Fall Winter 2012, get ready for another batch of unique footwear to get your fashion adrenaline pumping.
For the new season, burnished polished leather is a favoured material for Prada. Vintage looking with a deliberated worn out treatment adds a new level of appeal to the classic inspired designs of the Fall Winter 2012. The shoes may look classic, but nothing is ever what it seems with Miuccia Prada. The exaggerated soles, broad side rims in angular shapes are distinctive and immediately sets them apart from conventional versions. When applied with appliques of geometric floral patterns and shapes, these new shoes will appeal even more to shoe fans. There are also gladiator helmet motif, contrast stitching and exotic material mixes to look out for. With so many choices, get ready to increase your credit limit very soon:-) However, my favourites are the runway featured 'rubber dipped' shoes which appears to have been encased in rubber sheath shoe protectors that guys use on rainy days... How quaint and clever! Those black and tan leather ones are already on my wishlist:-)

Prada FW2012 shoes are a true show stopper, but do not forget the bags, sunglasses and jacket pins,  since they are equally quirky and statement making. The sunglasses with red lenses gets a 50's redesign that will make Sherlock Holmes proud. While those jacket pins are indispensable for modern dandys of any era. But take heed when choosing the flower jacket pins... go for single coloured versions as the full coloured ones looked as cheap as fake plastic flowers. I still prefer the plastic badge pins with pistol and helmet motifs.

The Material Boy #522

Below: Prada's highly sought after dancing couples print is now on their highly functional Printed Nylon Tote! I want one!
Below: Comes in many colours and prints, from couples to florals... it's a fun and easy bag to use all the time! Ladies, time to iove the pink 'PINK WEST' motif:-P

Prada Spring Summer 2012 Printed Nylon Tote With Saffiano Calf Leather Details

My most anticipated bag of the season has surfaced! Yay... these lightweight and roomy Prada Printed Nylon Tote first appeared 2 seasons ago and has since become a staple in their bag collection. At a very affordable price point and updated with amazing prints each season, these bags are true collectibles. Most importantly, I give thumbs up for their functionality. Being crease/water resistant nylon, simple and lightweight, they make great travel bags or weekend shopper totes:-) I used mine all the time and never get tire of it. (measures L 14.17" H 14.96" D 7.87" and comes with a useful internal zip pocket)

I have a version in blue geometric Arabic print and now I want these SS2012 versions featuring Prada's ultra fun and quirky dancing couples print! There's even a 'pink west' motif which girls will covet too. If humanoid illustrations is not your cup of tea, go for the floral prints in varied colours... kitsch is chic this SS2012!

Retails for USD395 or approx. SGD560. Not to be missed.

Below: Prada SS2012 Studded Saffiano Leather Document Holder... yes or no for SS2012?

Below: The tobacco colour is less brash... if I were to get one, I chose this colour...
Prada Studded Saffiano Leather Document Holder

At £1,110 a piece, I was shocked by the price of these Prada SS2012 Studded Saffiano Leather Document Cases. Called it a DIY 'bedazzle' piece or a kitsch+ cute statement bag, does it really warrant this price tag? I know the rhinestones (think Las Vegas cowboy tackydom) require time to fasten one by one... the leather is Prada's signature saffiano... and the brand is Prada.... but I am wondering who is willing to part with this kind of money for the bag?

Below: As seen on the SS2012 runway...

I leave you to decide. The shape and colours are amazing. The back pocket is user friendly. Perhaps for half the price, I might consider getting one just for some fashion attention during SS2012:-)

What say you?

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #247

Below: From one actor to another... Miuccia Prada has chosen Michael Pitt as the face of her SS2012 mens collection:-) Loving the 50's inspired looks and prints!

Prada Menswear Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign

After Tobey Maguire for FW2011, another actor gets cast as the new face of Prada's SS2012 campaign. This time Michael Pitt known for HBO series Boardwalk Empire gets the honours!

Styled with a resemblance to James Dean, that infamous quiff, on Michael, sets the mood for the Prada's 50's inspirations of Hollywood Icons for these SS2012 ads. The campaign explores the language of male role models from the rock star to the playboy, from the self-reflective introvert to the engaging and humorous farceur. It also reflects contemporary men who work when they play and play when they work. The boundaries are no longer clear – as the campaign’s simple props and gestures emphasize.

Modelling some of the most striking pieces from the runway... Michael adds a personality to the pieces, bringing forth a new depth of visual resonance beyond pretty faced models. I love his brooding, sometimes dorky expressions... encapsulating the 'kitsch/nerdy' element expressed in memorable collection. U either love or hate it.
Most noteworthy are the prints gone wild... graphic illustrations of dancing couples, florals to geometric shapes in vivid colours update the classic menswear pieces, making them once again highly desirable. I am sure that printed shirt shown above is going to be a 'street style' darling in the coming months!

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #242

Below: Prada Spring Summer 2012 Shoes and accessories collection... kitsch or chic? You decide! I bet these golf inspired shoes are going to be a hit with the boys come next season...

Below: Bejewelled bags for guys in pastel colours? Prada makes them just so desirable!

Below: Get golf crazy for SS2012... cute key rings!

Prada Spring Summer 2012 Mens Shoes, Bags And Accessories

If anyone can turn kitsch to chic, it has to be Miuccia Prada. The ever inspiring and intellectual designer has turned gaudy flower prints, quirky illustrations, bejewelled studs and odd colour combinations into a highly interesting (and I presume highly sought-after) collection for Spring Summer 2012. Throw in golfing influences, and you have a most unexpected and clashing mix of inspirations.

Is it time to 'retire' all those espadrilles brogues that Prada has been unabashedly promoting the past 2 seasons? I think so... Cos' there's a new hit shoe waiting to be headlined for next season. Fringed golf shoes with a twist, bejewelled or not! I bet all the streetstyle blogs will be flooded with male fashionistas spotting a pair come next fashion season. Equally head turning are those portfolio bags in pastel coloured saffiano leathers, and again decorated with jewelled studs which you either love or hate. Tacky or chic, you decide:-P

Get ready to tee off for SS2012 (It's a golf frenzy... Even the key rings spot golf motifs)... will Prada score a retail 'birdie' for next season? We shall find out soon!
