After a few seasons of buying frenzy, Kenzo is back with brand new prints for Fall Winter 2013. Sweatshirt Frenzy For Fall Winter 2013: Kenzo, Givenchy And More!

Below: Sweatshirt frenzy continues for Fall Winter 2013... what was once a garment reserved for sports, it's now a major fashion statement... Thanks to Givenchy and Kenzo who propelled Sweatshirts to fashion stardom with their eye catching prints and colours.
Below: Brands are realising the unstoppable appeal of sweatshirts... so look out for more options to appeal to different tastes... From Carven's Michael Wolf photo print to Ami's rustic Bear heads... there's one for everyone:-)
The Unstoppable Sweatshirt Frenzy: Givenchy, Kenzo And More!

What was once reserved for the sporting arena or the gym... is a now huge fashion star. Yes, I am talking about the much frenzied Sweatshirt. Thanks to Givenchy and Kenzo, 2 of the pioneers who put this once boring and unsightly garment into the fashion forefront. Credit goes to them for their bold colours and eye catching prints such as the Tiger and Rottweiler. Now everyone wants a piece of the sweatshirt action. They sell out fast and often do not even last till the sales. Guys also find more wear in sweatshirts than high maintenance wools, making them a useful and wearable piece to add to their wardrobe.

Relatively low cost and easy to manufacture, brands understood the potential of this money making fashion phenomenon. So for Fall Winter 2013, look out for many more options if you are just getting into the sweatshirt showdown. French label, Ami has a quirky bear head design and Carven featured a graphic antler and Michaeal Wolf photographic print for theirs. Balenciaga continues their Sci-Fi Egyptian antics while fast rising Italian brand MSGM churns out the most eye catching quilted florals and abstract camouflage prints. Of course, veteran Givenchy and Kenzo are still unstoppable as leaders in sweatshirt designs. Doberman prints ensure sell out for Givenchy while Tiger heads, funky eyes and cloud prints continue to appeal for Kenzo.

Below: Kenzo is still the undisputed leader in sweater shirt designs... for Fall Winter 2013, look out for Eye icons, Tiger heads and cool Cloud pattern:-P

Below: Fast rising Italian label, MSGM has amazing quilted florals and camo prints while Balenciaga proposed Sci-fi Egyptian motifs. McQ (Alexander McQueen)'s swallow print versions are just as fun:-)

Which sweatshirts are you ready to adopt for this Fall Winter 2013? Just in time to keep you warm and toasty while making a fashion statement for the new season!

Kenzo Fall Winter 2013 Ad Campaign

Below: Kenzo's Fall Winter 2013 Ad Campaign embraces surrealism and has Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi and male model Sean O’Pry in many unexpected but quirky scenarios...such as being pinned down as biology specimens... How cool!
Surrealism For Kenzo Fall Winter 2013 Ad Campaign

All eyes are on Kenzo these days... Carol Lim and Humberto Leon did their magic and revived Kenzo to be one of the coolest, most relevant fashion brand of the moment. Their clothes are bold, modern and always visually engaging. The same can be said of their eye catching ad campaigns too.

Kenzo’s Fall Winter 2013 collection features fantasy-like clouds and 'Third' eye... so it is befitting that the brand embraced surrealism as a key theme for their new advertising imagery. Collaborating with Maurizio Cattelan, Micol Talso and Pierpaolo Ferrari of arts magazine TOILETPAPER, Kenzo takes us on a visual journey most unexpected. Think Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi and male model Sean O’Pry riding on giant manicured hand or wearing multiple cutout eyes. If you want more weirdness, my favourite has to be the couple being pinned down as biology specimens. Phew...What a close call!

Below: How about taking a ride to the skies on a giant hand? Kenzo says yes you can!:-P

With such fresh and quirky scenarios, you cannot help but want a second or third look. Of course, Kenzo’s Fall Winter 2013 pieces worn by the models looked just as amazing. I want to lay my hands on the cloud print coat that Sean is wearing:-P. (Also remember to watch the behind the scenes video above)

Kenzo Striped Print Canvas Diego Sneakers

Below: Loving Kenzo's Diego Sneakers in colourful stripe print... a good or even better alternative to those collaboration Vans:-P (Modelling pic from Instagram: @valentin_well_done)
Summer Ready Shoes: Kenzo's Colourful Striped Print Canvas Diego Sneakers

If you have missed out on Kenzo’s highly sought-after collaboration Vans Sneakers in ‘Clouded Leopard’ print... fret not. There is a good alternative to those colourful summer shoes. Check out Kenzo’s Striped Print Diego Sneakers which in my opinion, spot better quality and in an equally interesting and colourful pattern. I especially love the red and blue striped version, which in a way reminds me of animal stripes such as those on a tiger. They will match well with neutrals to add a pop of colour or for a more nautical look, choose the white and navy pair which is preppy casual. The rim of the rubber soles have grated textures and spots a coloured Kenzo (not Vans!) logo plaque in the rear. Love these details.

I want both pairs, since each costs only Euro 116.22! Summer time footwear sorted for me, what about you?:-)

The Material Boy #581

Below: Own a piece of Kenzo's SS2013 runway print with these highly striking Kenzo x Vans Canvas trainers... Beautiful print and colour tones...I want a pair!

Kenzo X Vans Spring Summer 2013 'Clouded Leopard' Canvas Trainers

Kenzo’s collaboration with Vans created an exciting and affordable range of canvas trainers that is highly wearable and yet features striking runway prints from Kenzo. It is literally high fashion meets the streets with a price that fits. No wonder the previous collections all flew off the shelves as soon as they were launched.

I am now smitten with their latest Spring Summer 2013 collection, featuring the ‘Clouded Leopard’ print (a Kenzo SS2013 runway pattern) in a series of summer friendly hues. Choose from ocre, orange, blue, green and kaki, on 6 new pairs of Vans Authentic or Slip-On. I am definitely loving the orange pair with green leopard spots. They remind me of camouflage patterns as well, befitting Kenzo’s Asian Jungle theme for SS2013. Want! Retails for USD125. The collection will be sold at Kenzo stores, www.kenzo.com and at select retail partners including Opening Ceremony, Colette, Lane Crawford and IT China.

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #207

Below: Here's my round up of my favourite mens streetstyle... What are the 'fashion boys' wearing lately? Here's my insight and favourite looks:-P

MyMANybags Streetstyle Round-Up Of The Moment

This blog post is dedicated to all my streetstyle idols and those incredible streetstyle photographers... it's my round up of my favourite streetstyle looks for the moment...

After scouring thru many inspiring looks worn by real fashion-forward guys from all over the world... I thought I should gather some of my favourites and share it on my blog.

What are the key trend pieces that catches attention? What are the colours to watch out for? Which brand are favoured by the fashion squad lately? And who is my new streetstyle idol? Here’s my rundown.

KEY TRENDS:

Wearable and already well liked by many guys... the sports trainers is a staple footwear that you usually wear it on the running tracks or the gym. However, lately, there is an insurgence of these sporting footwear getting out of their ‘natural’ context and being put on the forefront of fashion. Balenciaga, Kenzo are amongst the many designers who conveyed this message in their recent menswear collections. But Valentino puts the luxury factor into these street-cred shoes with their leather camoufage versions. Many guys are already spotting the new Valentino Camouflage Trainers during the recent fashion weeks in major fashion cities, that goes to show their popularity. Even conventional sports trainer brands such as New Balance and Nike have been readily adopted against high fashion looks. Nuff’ said... get yourself a pair or be square.

KEY COLOURS:

With footwear out of the way, also pay attention of the invasion of prints and neon colours this coming Spring Summer 2013. Little touches of neon accents brighten your look, but do them sparingly. Metallics are also major influences on many collections with Burberry Prorsum and Lanvin taking the lead. Use these outstanding colours with discretion and you get to be at the front line of SS2013’s fashion race.

KEY MENSWEAR ITEM:

Sweatshirts propagated by the likes of Kenzo and Carven infiltrated the closets of many male fashion fans. Whether are they checks  from JW. Anderson’s or Kenzo’s, Floral embroidered like Carven's or Religious or military themed like Givenchy's... bold and graphic are the key words.

Below: Statement making Sweatshirts... metallics and neon colours are all part of the exciting SS2013 menswear trends seen on the streets:-P

KEY BRAND TO OWN:

Of course, it’s Kenzo! With affordable price points and upbeat prints and colours... the revamped fashion brand is getting new lease of life amongst the fashion community. Just look at their Tiger Print Sweaters and t-shirts... they are sold out as fast as you can say ‘UNCLE’!

Below: Kenzo is my choice for the brand to own now... for their very upbeat collection and designs. Most importantly, the accessible price points makes everyone have the ability to enjoy the creations of this revamped French fashion brand... And Anders Thomson is my new style idol... his sporting looks such as the one below with Kenzo's Tiger Print Sweatshirt is achievable and yet looks amazing on real guys!

MY NEW STREETSTYLE IDOL:

I was contemplating Andrea Porro, after seeing his many ‘chameleon’ looks at the recent mens fashion week. His Louis Vuitton Karakoram scarf look was well liked by many. But in the end, I picked Anders Sølvsten Thomsen, fashion stylist, consultant and fashion editor of LOVE magazine for his more relatable styles. I think many guys can pull off his looks which range from Prada to Jil Sander.  Lately, his sporty looks which includes key trend pieces of the season, the likes of Kenzo's Tiger Print sweatshirt and Valentino's Camouflage Trainers are true inspirations. Of course, his good looks helped in the decision making:-)

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #278

Below: It's jungle fever at Kenzo Spring Summer 2013 Mens collection... Look out for colourful animal prints and trekking style sandals which are some of my favourite pieces:-)
Below: Kenzo is now known for their striking patterns... and Spring Summer 2013 sees colourful animal prints on bags, shoes and more...
Below: I love those printed sneakers and sandal/boots...

Kenzo Spring Summer 2013 Mens Bags, Shoes And Accessories
Ever since Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim took over the design reins of Kenzo, the brand has gotten a much needed reboot and is now back on the conversation of many fashion fans. The clashing prints and bold graphics, injected with the travel DNA of Kenzo brand have been renewed with a youthful vigour that is fun and highly wearable. Especially true when it comes to the accessories and shoes.

For Spring Summer 2013, we are transported to the jungles of Thailand and Indonesia with trekking style themes and vibrant animal prints generously applied onto many accessories. The mix of leopard spots and tiger stripes on shoes are especially striking. As does the hybrid leather sandals/boots in olive green which are an instant favourite. For bags, the graphic leopard spotted messengers and olive coloured leather field bags are also pieces that stand out.

Below: Tiger rules! Love the sweater and shoes...

I need me some Kenzo this Spring Summer 2013... The yellow tiger stripe belt is a good start!

Ad Campaigns And Catalogues #139

Kenzo Fall Winter 2010 Mens Bags, Shoes And Accessories

Complimenting his Ready-To-Wear collection which is inspired by the goofy allure of comedic actor and director Jacques Tati’s Monsieur Hulot, Antonio Marras continues an eccentric play of colours for his Kenzo Fall Winter 2010 Mens Accessories Collection.

Brick red, forest green, mandarin orange and yellow reinforce the optimism of the collection. Vintage inspired briefcases in vibrant reds and oranges are refreshing for an otherwise sombre male accessory for the office. Duffels and school bag style totes are crafted with classic plaid fabric adding a nostalgic feel reminiscent of the fifties.

One of the most eye catching offering from the collection are those patent red leather high cut boots which are definitely not for the faint hearted. I wonder if any guys are bold enough to brave the attention? Surprisingly, those boots do looked amazing and not garish on those runway looks:-P

Kenzo Spring Summer 2010 Mens Bags and Accessories

Kenzo has long been 'lost' on the radar of fashion savvy men. But with Antonio Marras holding the reins of both mens and womenswear at Kenzo, hope is surfacing for the future of this brand, famous for its ethnic and nature influences.

Staying true to the essence of the brand for Spring Summer 2010, Antonio Marras turns out men's bags and accessories that seem to be made for guys who loves nature. Leaves inspired camouflage prints on bags and swim trunks are strong pieces that is spot on for this military craze season. The snake skin leather bags and even hiking boots are a luxurious take on outdoor glamour.

Utilitarian styles, military themes makes for a practical and masculine collection.

Hopefully, Antonio Marras will continue to move the menswear division of Kenzo forward. One day, perhaps it will become a must have label for all male fashion fans.

The Runway Sniper #25

Below: Kenzo Spring Summer 2009 Ad Campaign...with a whimsical fantasy feel...

Kenzo Menswear Spring Summer 2009

Travel has always been a consistent theme in Kenzo's brand DNA. Season after season, we are taken around the world with inspirations from the far east to the high seas of the carribeans or even the mountains of Central Asia. This season, the source for inspiration for the menswear lineup is 'One Thousand And One Nights'. As the name suggests, we see handsome 'princes of arabia' sent down the runway wearing turbans, gladiator style sandals paired with long caftan style shirts/jackets, silk and linen shorts. All proudly flaunting a dazzling array of bright jewelled tone colours!

I love the smart styling for the looks, mixing ethnic looks with modern, wearable pieces. The sequined tote was featured in the fashion supplement of Another Man magazine. Definitely unique for the guy who can work the bag. The ankle height gladiator style sandals in multitude of colours also get my vote! Sometimes I see Kenzo as a 'poorer distant cousin' to Hermes, who uses travelling as inspirations as well. But next season onwards, creative director Antonio Marras will take full control of the Kenzo brand. The Fall Winter 2009/2010 menswear by Marras is looking very promising already, I am going to pay close attention to the brand from now on.:-P
