Burberry Prorsum 'The Everyday Satchel' In Book Cover Print Leather

Below:  For Spring Summer 2015, Burberry Prorsum's The Everyday Satchel in Book Cover Print Leather is a real charmer if you are looking for a bag with personality and nostalgic literary charm:-) Love the yellow one with the vintage typographic graphic....
Below: Prominently featured on the SS2015 runways... the prints are eye catching especially on bags... the Everyday Satchel gets my pick for the good size and functionality...

Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2015 The Everyday Satchel in Book Cover Print Leather

Of all the mens bags that I have browsed thru this Spring Summer 2015 season... Burberry Prorsum easily claims the top title for being one of the most unique. Hard to miss on the runway are all those beautifully illustrated graphic prints on leather bags which captures catch your attention and imagination. Inspired by vintage book covers of volumes that creative director, Christopher Bailey picked up at flea markets, they bring a sense of nostalgic literary charm.

Apparently the artwork is hand-painted in Burberry’s studios and then printed onto calf leather. With refreshing and striking colours, the typography and illustrations come to life in the most vivid way. Out of all the bags presented in the SS2015 collection, my favourite style is the Everyday Leather Satchel. The shape and format reference classic designs with it’s foldover front and buckled notch-detail closures, much like the school bag that we fondly remembered from our carefree school days.
I also appreciate the options of being able to hand carry with the top handle or shoulder sling with the long leather strap, making the bag a good daily companion. To keep organised, the lined interior comes with a zipped compartment and two useful slip pockets.

The Everyday Leather Satchel is available in a variety of prints... but my heart is won over by the mustard yellow version. Yolk yellow is my favourite colour, as does the appeal of vintage-inspired typography:)

(The Everyday Leather Satchel in Book Cover Print Leather retails for SGD3595 while single coloured leather versions are priced lower at SGD3059.)

Below: Combined with the vivid colours of Burberry Prorsum's SS2015 menswear... the Everyday Leather Satchel in book cover print adds eccentric charm to the looks. Something Harry Porter's School of Hogwarts will approve.

Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2015 'The Field' Sneakers. Colour Blocking At Its Best!

With 2015 fast approaching, it is time to start planning some wardrobe choices when the weather gets warmer. Spring Summer colours are always welcomed in tropical Singapore!

And Burberry Prorsum has hit a home run with their new ‘The Field’ sneakers featuring some of the boldest brightest hues for mens footwear. Right on cue for the raging sneaker trend in mens fashion, these athletic style fashion sneakers are not to be missed. I love the use of fuchsia, yellows and all the primary tones you can find on the rainbow spectrum, offering a simple cheerful but exciting colour palette to spice up SS2015 wardrobe.

At SGD950 a pair (buy now at www.burberry.com), time to put some of that year end bonus to good fashion use! Me love!
(If you prefer a more subdued version, there are all black, white and red versions retailing at SGD850. But in my opinion, that defeats the purpose of these colourful shoes.)

5 Spring Summer 2014 Bags To Stake Out For During Sales

Below: With sale season starting for some brands and coming for others... it's time to plan what to buy! Here's my 5 picks I will be considering and staking out for when markdowns happens!:-P
Spring Summer 2014 End Of Season Sales Planning: 5 Bags To Stake Out For During Sales

With Spring Summer 2014 Fashion Season coming to its end... End of Season sales have already started for some brands and more to come over the next weeks.

So what are you planning to buy this time round? It does help to do some research and planning before hand so you end up with purchases not on impulse but on budget and according to plan.

My #1 rule for sale shopping... never buy anything you would not pay full price for even if it is super cheap. Buying because of steep discounts usually end up with regrets and you end up with a white elephant that will collect dust over the years. I learned this hard truth from years of sale shopping, and even an expert shopper like me, I do succumb to the lure of big markdowns.

Here’s my top 5 picks I will be staking out for. I chose them because I am feeling the prints and colours this Spring Summer 2014. And these bags will still be relevant even after this season is over. Florals never disappear from fashion when summer season comes. Givenchy’s techno afro print is visually interesting to warrant as art, art never dies. Camo prints are classics when it comes to mens fashion. Bright single hued soft leather bags can always fit any tropical vacations.

1) Givenchy Tech-Print Backpack - US$1,125
(Available at Mr Porter. I forsee these will be snapped up as soon as markdowns begin. So start stalking the site. Tip: US site always have their sales first.:-P)

2) 3.1 Phillip Lim Medium Side Zip Duffle - Now on SALE at US$595 from US$850
(I love this bag because of the brightly hued floral print. And armed with an optional shoulder strap, this colourful bag is great to take with you on your summer getaways. What sealed the deal is the lightning bolt emblem which injects personality and fun! Available at www.3.1philliplim.com

3) Ami Floral Print Backpack - US$286 (SGD360)

Again florals done in complimentary hues in khaki tones are great to inject flower power without coming across as too feminine. I love the front pocket for a casual no frills bag to take anywhere. Available at www.matchesfashion.com

4) Mismo M/S Nordic Camo print shopper - US$345 (SGD435)

Camouflage print with colour? YES! YES! YES! Good size to use as a tote or shoulder sling. Mismo makes functional bags and now the camo print just takes the design to a new fun level. I will be talking this for sure! Available at www.matchesfashion.com

5) Burberry Prorsum The Little Duffle in Nappa Leather - Now on SALE at SGD715 from SGD1195

Brightly hued in soft nappa leather... this sling shoulder backpack is useful for casual days or in my opinion, a beach vacation bag. I would choose this bottle green colour for it’s tropical feel. Will always make you wanna take a vacation! Available at Burberry e-store.

Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014 Advertising Campaign

Below: Check out the very summer fresh Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014 Advertising Campaign, starring young emerging British talents such as 'City of Bones' actor Jamie Campbell Bower...  Beautiful pastel colours that evokes a strong feeling of Spring Summer...

Artists And Roses: Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014 Advertising Campaign

We are just a day away from Burberry Prorsum’s Fall Winter 2014 Menswear show in London (which I will be livestreaming here on my blog) and I feel it is most appropriate to dedicate a post to their upcoming Spring Summer 2014 Advertising Campaign titled Artists and Roses.

Featuring yet again an impressive cast of British emerging talents, the likes of ‘City of Bones’ actor, Jamie Campbell Bower, musician Lee Dobson, models Malaika Firth, Jean Campbell, Matilda Lowther, Neelam Johal and Callum Ball. The setting is a refreshing backdrop of summer fresh pastel coloured walls with roses and vines to bring out the brilliant beauty of Christopher Bailey’s SS2014 Mens and Womenswear.

I love the trench coats of course, and those pastel coloured coats and ties which is a nice distraction from the dull colours of winter. The young faces also bring out that sense of renewal for the new season, perfectly exemplifying the feelings of summer time.

One of my favourite ad campaigns so far! Kudos to Mario Testino of the amazing photography.

Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2013 Slim Fit 'Hearts' Print Shirt

Below: Last winter, it was the Fox Print Shirt, this Fall Winter 2013 I am head over heels for Burberry Prorsum's Slim Fit Hearts Print shirt... Look how fun it looks especially when styled with a Jil Sander SS2013 Portfolio Bag:-P
Be Still My Heart: Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2013 Slim Fit Hearts Print Shirt

Burberry Prorsum does it again. I have fallen in love with their Fall Winter 2012 Fox Print graphic print shirt then and now I am head over heels with their latest Fall Winter 2013 ‘Hearts’ Print shirt. Highly recognisable with the print, it’s a statement piece yet again to steal some attention upon yourself. Wear under a blazer or wear it proud and out, this is one shirt that speaks fun and charm for winter time. No wonder celebrities like One Direction’s Harry Styles and Taiwanese actor Chen Bolin all favoured this shirt. Comes in a variety of colours such as Burgundy and brown, and featured in jumpers and t-shirts too. The blue version of the shirt is my pick and retails for £366 at Mr Porter if you are as keen as me:-P There’s indeed LOVE at first sight in the fashion world.

Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2013 Giraffe Print T-shirt

Below: Get some bold prints going this Fall Winter 2013... Burberry Prorsum's monotone Giraffe Print T-shirt as seen on Tinie Tempah is graphic without being brash and camp. A great way to wear pattern for guys!
Bold Prints For Winter: Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2013 Giraffe Print T-shirt

When we think of Safari or jungle themed prints... Leopards, Tigers, Zebras comes instantly to mind. So it is refreshing when Burberry Prorsum throws in a graphic giraffe print for their Fall Winter 2013. I don’t know why, but the bold patches in monotone looked simply chic, outstanding but not cluttered or camp. Tinie Tempah wore one when he attended the recent Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014 mens show in London. Matched with a pair of cropped trousers and black lace-ups... the look is simple but not boring. The shirt’s bold prints ensures that. Great for layering under winter outerwear. A great way to wear prints for winter. Must have!

Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014 Menswear

Below: The models from Burberry Burberry Prorsum's Spring Summer 2014 mens show seemed to have walked out from a David Hockney painting... strong colours and relaxed tailoring rooted in the theme, 'Writers and Painters' were Christopher Bailey's inspiration...

Below: Memorable styling comes from those cute nappa leather pouches and sling duffles overdyed for bold vibrancy...

Writers And Painters: Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2014 Menswear

Burberry Prorsum returns to homeground with their Spring Summer 2014 menswear collection, as one of the line-ups for London Collections: Mens. Quintessentially English, Burberry’s showing in London never felt so right.

‘Writers and Painters’ was the theme for Spring Summer 2014, as Christopher Bailey celebrates artistic and intellectual spirit, with a nod and a wink to Alan Bennett and David Hockney. Expect easy, relaxed tailoring that sits alongside lightweight pieces in linen and slouchy cashmere, all accented by bright pops of colours inspired from David Hockney’s paintings. Weatherproof cagoules and sou’westers take the whole collection outdoors and exudes the British summer. This is a collection that many guys will rejoice for its wearability, nothing too far fetched like Spring Summer 2013’s metallic frenzy. Memorable styling comes from the cute little overdyed nappa leather pouches that visually excites and while making a good alternative to all clutch bag lovers. I especially love the striped panelled or polka dot ones in suede and leather which will make a fun bag to carry come 2014. Also remember to check out the soft nappa leather clutches which at a great price of SGD950, is simply irresistable. (Pre-order at www.burberry.com from now till 25 June 2013. Personalisation option available)

One downside to the collection, everything seemed very familiar. Polka dots, stripes and colours are simply too easy references for an established designer like Christopher Bailey. I wished there were more original details or prints that would have added depth and exclusivity for Burberry Prorsum, considering the line is Burberry’s trend forward collection. What do you think?

Below: It's a celebration of artistic and intellectual spirit that exudes relaxed British summer... in summary, wearable pieces that are fun and colourful:-)

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #204

Below: Burberry Prorsum SS2013 Metallic coloured ready to wear pieces are some of the most outstanding of the season. However, they take a lot of guts and savvy taste to wear them well. What do you think of Brad Goreski's take on the Fuchsia Metallic Trench Coat? I loved his look!

Brad Goreski Wears Burberry Prorsum's Metallic Fuchsia Trench Coat

Metallic colours is undeniably one of the most visible trends for Spring Summer 2013. It’s an outstanding style to adopt but you need guts and savvy ‘mix and match’ taste to pull it off well. Too overdone and you look like a leftover Christmas tree. It’s definitely a a thin line between success or being a wannabe. However, when you succeed, you are bound to leave a positive impression:-P

I don’t know about you... but I love Brad Goreski’s outfit of Burberry Prorsum’s attention grabbing SS2013 metallic trench coat to the recent Carolina Herrera show during New York Fashion Week FW2013. This much metallic colour on a coat is challenging enough, but fuchsia colour just makes wearing the piece treading on the verge of 'tackydom'. It’s definitely not an easy style to get right. However, Brad’s bubbly personality, good looks and clever mixing of pieces in the same colour family meant everything co-exists in a visually pleasing manner. I love the deep purple shirt accented with a black bow-tie and black trousers, leaving room for the metallic fuchsia trench coat to shine without competition. His preppy outlook also helps to ground the crazy statement piece, reining in the look's bling and steering away from trying too hard. Just the right amount of attention for occassions like Fashion Week.

Below: As seen on Burberry Prorsum SS2013 runway....

Bravo to Brad:-) Burberry should be proud! (Check out Brad Goreski's other NY Fashion Week outfits on my Facebook fanpage)

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #203

Below:The very cute Burberry Prorsum's FW2013 Hearts Print shirt in blue is already making its celebrity rounds way before it hits the stores... starting with Harry Styles of One Direction. Don't you love the cute little hearts befitting any Prince Charming on Valentine's day?:-)
Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2013 'Hearts' Print Shirt On Harry Styles

It's Valentine's Day tomorrow... and by this time next year, Burberry Prorsum's very memorable Fall Winter 2013 'Hearts' print shirt will be a hot seller for this special day. However, we fans of the brand will have to wait our turn to work this cute shirt in about 8 month's time... unless you are Harry Styles of One Direction.

Yes, the teenage hearthrob wore the Hearts print shirt in blue on his birthday in London. The cute little heart shapes makes for an endearing design that brings a smile. Being in navy blue, it's cute without being overly sweet. After the fox print shirt, this will most likely make it to my shirt collection come next season. And for those celebrating Valentine’s day, this shirt is definitely befitting of any Prince Charming.

My MANy Bags Trendspotting #202

Below: Metallic colours are a prominent trend for SS2013... Outstanding and very fashion forward, it's time to dress for the future. With the influx of SS2013 pieces arriving to stores, fashion bloggers such as Pelayo Diaz and Bryanboy and other fashion week fashionistas are already wearing this trend! Are you game for some 'TRON' style this SS2013?
Below: I am a fan of these metallic stripe t-shirts from Burberry Prorsum (£195.83 w/o UK VAT)... Metallic purple or blue?:-P
Spring Summer 2013 Is The Season For Metallics!

Dress for the future... metallics are one of the biggest trends for Spring Summer 2013. Burberry Prorsum were one of the the big names to propagate the fusion of shinny metallic colours into the gentlemen's wardrobe. Lanvin second that!

As the new season pieces start to trickle in store, some of the big names in the world of fashion blogging also adopted metallics pieces into their new season style... Pelayo Diaz and Bryanboy both flaunt these stunning pieces from Burberry Prorsum SS2013 recently.

So are you going to let in some tin foil glamour to your dressing? Yes or no, they are undeniably a big trend to keep watch over! I am game for the metallic pieces... but perhaps start with a gorgeous metallic stripe T-shirt which I spotted at Mr Porter. Love the bling bling!

The Runway Sniper #83

Below: Burberry Prorsum showed their Fall Winter 2013 mens collection in Milan yesterday... get ready for updated classic outwears with a playful touch. Such as 'wild' animal prints on coats, bags and shoes...even technology accessories such as ipad and iphone cases are not spared...

Below: Heart prints are also affectionately embellished on shirts, jackets and scarves...
Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2013 Menswear

Burberry Prorsum’s latest Fall Winter 2013 menswear shown in Milan just yesterday was all about seeing classics with a new eye. Evolving the brand’s outerwear and updating them with new colours, materials and shapes, while injecting playful elements, was the intention of creative director Christopher Bailey. Befittingly, the collection was called I Heart Classics, as explained by the designer.

There are cheeky hearts, resembling text message symbols (Burberry has always propagate the technology driven modern age), translucent rubber topcoats in burgundy, grape and caramel... but most memorable of all, abundant animal prints that will trek the Burberry man into the jungle (or urban jungle) by next winter.

Look forward to accents or full on splashes of animal prints on collars, shoes, Boston bags, totes and leather satchel bags that deserves some 'wild' attention.

So what are your thoughts on this latest Burberry Prorsum menswear offering? Too kitsch? Too boring? Or you simply love it for the fun but highly wearable aspect of the collection. For me, it is undeniably a safe collection, nothing overtly surprising but all mixed and combined together with the savvy eyes of a seasoned designer.

On a last note, you can pre-order the bags and outerwear and wear them way ahead of everyone at www.burberry.com till 20 January. I am thinking about the small leather satchel with contrasting Burberry checks and leopard printed pocket (USD1195 or SGD1995). Should I?

The Runway Sniper #82

Below: Another high impact season for Burberry Prorsum menswear... Spring Summer 2013 sees unexpected metallic colours creating a high octane collection that gets your attention every way...
Below: No rain but shine at Burberry SS2013 mens collection... metallic colours such as this trousers is sure to set next season ablaze with blinding looks!
Below: Beyond all the highly scene stealing metallic pieces, pay attention too, to the charming prints offered for SS2013... I want that tote bag!
Below: I love this look of a metallic cardigan worn with the suit... definitely a scene stealer! I forsee red carpet mileage for this look:-)
No Rain But Shine: Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2013 Menswear

Yesterday, Christopher Bailey showed a bold Spring Summer 2013 mens collection for Burberry Prorsum. 'Come rain or shine' was on the show notes... but it was not rain that was brought in.... but high octane 'SHINE' in the form of blinding metallic colours, surprising the audience and wowing the media.

Taking the brand forward yet again... where future meets traditional. The mix of classic menswear pieces of tweeds, wool and garbadine accented with visionary use of metallic colours and materials spices up the conservative pieces... letting any guy display his forward sense of style without compromising his time-tested looks.

Bomber jackets, slim trousers, trenches, cardigans and sweaters come in all shades of metallic hues and cleverly woven with a strong Burberry flavour, eclectic and fun. I especially love the metallic half lapels on coats. Watch out too for the accessories, metallic croc iPad cases, tote bags and birkenstock lookalike sandals (with socks!). All those 'shimmery' pieces seem to be gearing up to outshine any competitors and ceorce your consumer dollars. No wonder most of the looks are paired with sunglasses... It's truly a mesmersing Burberry season yet again.

The Material Boy #537

Below: Burberry Prorsum FW2012 Fox Print Stripe shirt is one of my most wanted Fall Winter 2012 fashion piece... I simply love the whimsical and graphic fox illustration:-) Now available for pre-order at www.luisaviaroma.com...
Below: As spotted on Taiwanese celebrity, Sunny Wang during Burberry's Taipei flagship store opening recently...

Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2012 Fox Print Stripe Shirt

If I have to name a piece of Fall Winter 2012 fashion piece that I most wanted... it will be Burberry Prorsum's Fox Print Stripe shirt as seen on the runway a few months back. Ever since spotting the whimsical printed shirt, I have moved it to a must have list for the upcoming new season. It's iconic, fun and has a very interesting graphic illustration of a fox head that will get everyone talking:-) Neither too brash or meek, it has just the right panache to make you stand out without screaming your head off.

Seen on Taiwanese celebrity and heartthrob, Sunny Wang during Burberry's recent Taipei Flagship store opening... I am now even more convinced I need this shirt. Good news... Luisaviaroma has already put up this shirt for pre-order at €409.09 (For orders to Singapore). So hurry, sizes and quantity are limited. This shirt will simply fly off the shelves even before the shipment date arrives (latest by 30 September). Yes, it's a long wait to commit that payment... but it will be well worth the wait knowing you are guaranteed a piece of this shirt!

The Material Boy #515

Below: New shoe obsession... Burberry Prorsum has coerced me yet again with this version of their cork soled shoes...
Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2012 Mens Calfskin Tapestry Jacquard Lace-ups

More Burberry obsession for Spring Summer 2012. Further to my raving about the woven leather pair, I am now deciding I will get this pair with Tapestry Jacquard fabric instead. It's cheaper, more adaptable and perhaps more lasting in terms of relevance... At €450.00, this pair of lace-ups is more attainable than Prada's if you are looking for statement shoes:-)

I love it... especially after seeing the pic posted on Mr Porter's twitter account. I wonder if they will stock this pair:-) Cross our fingers!

The Runway Sniper #79

Below: Burberry Prorsum unveiled their Fall Winter 2012 Menswear collection yesterday in Milan... I am already getting a rush from wanting all the pieces featured below... what will be your picks?:-P Fox graphic print shirt is top on my list of must buy!
Below: Brollies with animal heads are perfect for Singapore's rainy weather:-P
Below: Suede patchwork document case are a dapper gentlemen's best friend... the colour combination is amazing...
Below: Of course, a guy can never get enough of studs...
Burberry Prorsum Fall Winter 2012 Menswear

I will leave it to the professionals to critic and review the collection. Here on this post, I am just going to do what fan boys do... drool and covet over which pieces I like and will buy from Burberry Prorsum's Fall Winter 2012 Menswear collection as unveiled yesterday in Milan.

Christopher Bailey has been on a roll creating some of my favourite collections at Burberry Prorsum for 2 consecutive seasons. Spring Summer 2012's quirky artisan inspired cork sole shoes and colourful ready to wear scored a thumbs up... and now for this new Fall Winter 2012 menswear collection, I am again swooned.

Combining traditional English styles (think Sherlock Holmes and leading men of TV series Downtown Abbey) with an outdoorsy adventure spirit of dapper gentlemen and all their hunting gear, the collection balances refinement and utilitarian spirit in mens dressing. Nothing stuffy or boring, with just enough quirks to excite. Fox beaded appliqués on sweaters and shirts, animal heads (greyhounds and ducks) on brollies and studs on gloves/document cases add the right amount of interest against the sartorial smarts of the collection. Hunting and field jackets, tweed trenches and jaunty polka dot prints are also highlights. I especially love the proportion of short coats over suits which is young and refreshing.

So what will I buy if money was not a problem... here's my picks from the collection:

1) Fox Graphic Print Shirt - I love the quirky animal print!
2) Duck head brollies - It's the new accessory and totally applicable for year end rainy Singapore weather...
3) Suede Patchwork Document Case - Preorder now at Burberry.com for SGD2390. (Kinda Céline-ish but still very desirable)
4) Studded Leather Document Case - I love studs! (but the price is astronomical at SGD8295!)

What will be your picks?
