 Dress Like Leonardo And Tobey: Brooks Brothers 'The Great Gatsby Collection'

Movies and fashion have always been inseparable. Both are build on aspirations and visions of the directors and designers to give the audience a dream to aspire to. After watching the spectacular on screen retelling of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ by Baz Luhrmann, I was wowed. Not only by the decadent recreation of the 1920’s American Dream but also by the immaculately dressed gentlemen of that era.

The women in the movie may have Miuccia Prada to thank for those intricate and richly detailed flapper dresses and more...  or Tiffany & Co. for the lavish diamond jewellery... the boys however can count on Brooks Brothers to smarten them up, like the gentlemen of yesteryear.

It used to be a distant dream to want to dress the part during previous movie incarnations of the classic novel... but for this 2013 remake, you can dress like Leonardo or Tobey Maguire with just an instant mouse click. Yes, Brooks Brothers has created a special collection of menswear ‘The Great Gatsby Collection’ based on the designs we see in the movie. All the pieces are available for sale online on their website.

I was won over instantly by Leonard Dicaprio’s ivory linen suit (Jacket at US$698) when he reconnected with Carey Mulligan’s ‘Daisy Buchanan’ character. I already imagined being wed in that outfit:-P
And when Tobey Maguire appeared in a handsome knitted green shawl collared cardigan (US$148), my heart was set aflutter yet again. Gorgeous classics remade with modern day relevance. A well heeled guy could wear these any day (of course, wearing it to Long Island, New York will be most appropriate).

Other noteworthy pieces from the collection includes the ‘The Great Gatsby Collection Burgundy Stripe Regatta Blazer (US$798)’ and my favourite... ‘The Great Gatsby Collection Tipped Blazer (US$798)’. There are also plenty of accessories from shoes to ties which looked equally amazing.

Living the opulent, excessive lifestyle of the super rich (as in the movie) may be unrealistic, but the collection allows everyone to at least indulge and rekindle the love of classic menswear from those past glorious days.

Marie Claire's latest issue showcase pics of Sarah Jessica Parker wearing Balmain, Kristin Davis in Oscar De La Renta, Cynthia Nixon in Christian Dior and Kim Cattrall in Valentino. Who is your favourite?

Oooh... I did not imagine Christian Louboutin himself would starr in a video clip shot exclusively for Fashionair. Not only does he dance and prance around in his role, but he did it with the hottest shoe in town now, the ever beautiful studded Freddy Flats!

What a clip. I don't know whether to be amused by Mr Louboutin's acting and dancing or be mesmerised by those hot shoes:-P But definitely still very entertaining.

Guess Who Plays The Venomous Beauty, Medusa In The Upcoming 'Clash Of The Titans'?

I was very surprised at who played the role of the femme fatale in the upcoming, must-watched Clash Of The Titans movie starring hot hunk, Sam Worthington. It's none other than our beloved top model, Natalia Vodianova from Russia (See the youtube clip from 00:36 sec for a better look). You probably will remember her recent brilliantly shot campaign for Givenchy Spring Summer 2010. Isn't that such an irony, for a beauty to play a character of ugliness and evil. A head of snakes never looked this fashionable:-) I will definitely be looking out for scenes of Medusa when I watched the movie in 3D next week! But warning, 'STARE' at your own risk:-) That's also a head worth keeping!:-P

Noah Mills To Play Love Interest In Sex And The City 2

Noah Mills follows the footsteps of Jon Kortajarena (in Tom Ford's 'A Single Man') and Boyd Holbrook (in 'MILK'), as he transcends from model spokesperson of fashion names such as Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors, to acting on the big screen with the role of Samantha's love interest in the upcoming Sex and The City 2 movie. Guess who his character is related to the original cast... the irritable, bitchy Charlotte's wedding planner, Anthony's brother named Nicky! Surprise surprise!

"He's a real New Yorker, a construction worker, blue-collar guy," Mills describes. "My first film experience is this role, so that was a little intimidating; they've worked together for so long." He has at least two scenes — a "speaking scene" and "a potentially more awkward scene," as Mills put it — the latter, a love scene with Kim Cattrall's Samantha.

'The September Issue' Opens In US on 28 August 2009!

No dates yet for Singapore's screening. But the movie unveiling the 'behind the scenes' of one of the world's premiere fashion 'bible', VOGUE, will open on 28 August in the US. Anna Wintour is in the limelight again and this movie will give a good insight into her job and whether if the 'Devil Wears Prada' is a myth or fact:-)

Can't wait for the movie to arrive in Singapore:-)

Sex And The City Movie Opens This Week (29 May 2008)!

The ultimate fashionistas' and a few fashionistos' style bible and movie opens this weekend! This movie version of the hit TV series now gets a bigger budget and an even larger closet! Check out fabulous fashion, shoes and bags that will define the next wave of 'lusts' in many millions of women's wardrobe. I bet all the designers want their pieces to be featured in this 'sales driving' movie:-P And of course, get into the witty dialogue, beautiful people and the ultimate question, will Carrie successfully marry Big afterall?!?!

I can't wait for the movie. 'The Devil Wears Prada' might pale in comparison in terms of the enormity of wardrobe styling for this movie. Kudos to Patricia Field! Let's see if she outdo herself this time with Sex and The City, considering she got an oscar for her styling work in 'The Devil Wears Prada'.
